My son has watched a few POV and now he can’t wait to ride. He doesn’t have any memory of splash mountain. I think this ride is for the next generation to get excited for the park. We also saw you in the new history show about how Disney built America. Great job.
My daughter’s in the same boat. She doesn’t really like thrill rides, but after watching this she’s excited! I remember splash mountain as a kid and it was my first thrill ride too (if you can call it that) and the memory will always be special, but like you said, Tiana’s BA is for the kids, just like all of Disney. All these boomers who keep complaining need to zip it!
While you are right that the new generation is going to like this ride better than the old generation, I don't think that's the question we should be asking. The question should be, "Would the new generation enjoy this more than an updated splash mountain?" And I thinks that's a definite no. There's no clear story on Tiana's ride, but there was a great one on Splash. There is no real conflict or danger on Tiana's, but there was on Splash. The songs on Splash are much more widely known even today, and it is much easier for kids to sing a long to. Not to mention, most kids at this age want to do what their parents like. Splash Mountain was literally the most popular ride in the world according to most polls. I don't think Tiana's Bayou will ever crack the top 50 rides of all time.
Idealy, Dr Facillia at the bottom of the lift along with his "Are You Ready" music. Mama Oddi ,at the top, telling us at the last moment she is sending him back to the underworld where he belongs before the big drop. "Now on to the Party you all!".. SPLASH!
The red clay and rockwork were beautiful then and still beautiful today. Tony Baxter's hard work makes this Lousiana Avery Island Bayou salt mine swamp look amazng!
@@CrazyManhog - Yes, that is factually correct. Avery Island is hitorically a place where horrible atrocities happened. Maybe the ride can shed attention onto this salt mine and raise awareness about the terrible things that happened there. I never knew about the mine before.... but this ride caused me to research Avery Island and I read quite a bit of sad historic information about it. Yes, it was a terrible place with terrible slavary.
Maybe it's just me, but I never rode Splash Mountain for the story. In fact, I really had no idea what the story even was. Maybe I'm the minority in that, but I'm anxiously awaiting my first ride of Tiana's for the drops. Again, not really for a story element.
A lot of adults forget that Disney is ultimately designed for kids, and kids are gonna absolutely love this. I think is looks fun and def worth a ride on my next visit!
The Roaring 20's even became the golden age of classic music by the horns and trumpets. Megalo Station (Blaire Rastaneo) saw it all along with Walt's early years and the events of The Princess and the Frog, same for the birth of The Walt Disney Company.
Tiana is apparently the last of the cartoon Disney Princesses and the second American Disney Princess after Pocahontas. Tiana reappeared in Ralph Breaks the Internet with the same actress voicing her and she will also reappear with Naveen and Louis in The House of Mouse Recaption, so will her five Crescent City buddies, her best friend, Charlotte Le Bouff and Dr. Facilier.
Honestly, your review seems biased. Not something one would expect from you. As you said, when it comes to cruising around in the log the ride itself is the same as Splash Mountain so if that’s what you enjoy then you won’t be disappointed, but I feel the show itself pales in comparison to Splash Mountain. It does compare to Na’vi River Journey as there is much of the ride where not much, if anything, is happening even though the scenery is beautiful. Many stagnant moments. As far as the animatronics goes, everyone knows there are dozens less in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, but the claim that they are more fluid or high end is not exactly true. The majority of the animatronics are no more high end than a doll in It’s a Small World. They simply rock back and forth or bob up and down with maybe a little arm or head movement. Louis and Tiana appear to be high end, but if you watch them they really don’t move much. They sway around a bit, their heads turn and their arms wave around like they were having an epileptic fit. Fluid yes, but other than their arms there really isn’t much movement. You pointed out how Tiana animatronics don’t loop, but instead react to the arrival of your log. This is true, but as your log approaches her she just stands or sits their with minimal movement either looking off into space or staring at you like a hungry zombie until your log trips a sensor. Then she kicks into action as if she had just done a line of coke - mostly just frantically waving her arms around. Once your log passes she re freezes and waits for the next log before going into action again. Kind of startling. Over all, the ride is not bad at all, but as a replacement for Splash Mountain it just doesn’t live up to the fun, enjoyment or excitement of it’s predecessor. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a classic example of how to take a fun and exciting “E” ticket attraction and turn it into a mediocre “C” ticket. Other than the long boat ride and the drops inherited from Splash Mountain and the improved fluidity of a few of the animatronics it’s no better than your typical Fantasyland dark ride. Better if Splash Mountain had been plussed or at least maintained and not ignored and allowed to deteriorate and that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure had been built as an all new attraction in it’s own new building. This isn’t a complaint, just a point of view. The only complaint is too many screens. A screen can work well when used properly, but it’s no replacement for even the most basic animatronic. In an attraction like this, if you see one and instantly know it’s a screen then it doesn’t work. To repeat, the attraction is not bad, even though there isn’t much of a story, (what story there is is kind of lame), and there is no tension build up before the big drop, it just doesn’t live up to or provide the entertainment value of Splash Mountain. You won’t exit this attraction humming a tune like you did after hearing Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah . One more thing, it was a mistake to remove the big tree stump from the top of the mountain without replacing it with some other icon. The weenie is gone.

When Splash My opened OMG I was amazed at how smooth they were able to have the logs from the constant bumping similar to its a small world. Thanks so much for this ride threw. I'll let this grow on me and may just eventually watch the movie one day after too lol.
I passed by the attraction earlier this week while the media event was happening and I did see the cast of the movie and they seemed stoked to ride it. I think on its own, the ride does look great and seems to be a lot of fun for fans of the movie. The animatronics are definitely stunning and I wasn't even expecting the cgi but it does look ok and hopefully it doesn't slide too much into the uncanny valley (although Lottie seems at bit unnerving for me a bit). The shrinking bit I did not see coming at all, but for this to be set after the movie I guess it makes sense since Tiana was already a frog herself so I see why Mama Odie would shrink the guests. Now when it comes to the Splash Mountain comparison, that's a very tricky question. Obviously, many people would still hold on to Splash Mountain because it was a classic, but again fans of Princess and the Frog would probably enjoy this as well. However deciding on which ride is better is pretty much a debate of its own so at the end of the day it just depends on who you ask but for what they were given I'll give kudos to the Imagineers for creating this ride. It's not perfect by any time but it looks very fun.
I'm confused. It's "Tiana's Foods" as in it's "hers"...but then says: "employee-owned"? Who's company is it supposed to be? So, we are looking for a missing "spice" on the historic Avery Island salt mine? No,..no,..we are actually looking for a "musician" for the band instead in that salt mine? We then get shrunk down by voodoo that we can't talk about...to help us find this animal musician? No, wait!... the last song said we found the SPICE we were looking for in the salt mine....and YOU were the missing ingredient all along? What happened to that musician we were looking for? This thing seems soooo half-baked and NOT very well thought out!
Disney should have done was spread out the animatronics better. That would help with the empty spots in the ride so each time you enter a scene if gives you something to see.
@@DSNYNewscast thanks. so they did it for the event only. have you thought of taking a 360 camera? i mean with a ride like that you can record 360 and post edit what you want on a video or post the whole 360. my channel i have 360 video of some rides. trying to do more.
Disney got involved from a health and safety perspective, putting our phones into the camera mount, because of the liability if it came loose. We didn’t have to show them anything we recorded, and they had no final say before posting.
My characters will celebrate Mardi Gras and Douglas will reveal his murderous ways; Jennis will clod into Tiana's Palace after being thrown by him. Casey Jr. and Putt-Putt will then traverse Louisiana.
It’s fun of course, just a little empty. It’s ok to replace splash mountain. But it just feels like there’s a lot missing in terms of sets, and story. Feels like an incomplete ride in that respect.
If this were Universal, UA-camrs and Vloggers must sucked the balls to the end. Tiana Bayou was well-made. I just hope Disney World can negotiate with Universal Orlando, and make it to bring MCU Rights to their land in the end, by all means.
1:38 The music sounds very similar to the old Splash Mountain exterior. It sounds like soft banjos with trumpets and pianos and guitars and I love that part only. Why because it fits with the flow of the water
I was never interested in splash mountain…got into theme parks when I had my 1st born in 2017…I’m all in for Tiana’s …going next month just wondering if I should go to Tiana’s mid afternoon or at night to enjoy the bayou lights
@@DSNYNewscast Actually ELO never recorded it,it was Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Many thought it was ELO. Anyway, great POV and I hope to be able to ride Disneylands version in October.
This is so niche and would never have happened BUT. It suddenly just came to me that Disney already had the perfect non ip that would have worked marvellously as a retheme for this attraction. Have you ever watched the Pixar short “burrow”? The story fits the existing attraction like a glove, all the way down to the water plunge! But hey ho, just a fun thought!
Looks fun for what it is, but I think they definitely F'd up in terms of the story and not having a villain. Yes I know it's "after the movie" or what not, but with this track profile it should've just been based off the movie, imo
I live local to Orlando, so no free stay at the Contemporary. And Disney gave me $100 on a gift card to buy some food over 2 days. Also haven’t received any such merchandise either yet.
I can tell you right now, that my fee for a paid video is much more than a small box of merchandise. 😂 I have my honest thoughts, some positive and some negative in my review earlier in the week. Getting a free event merchandise is normal for most conferences, be it media or corporate.
@@DSNYNewscast we watched the video you reference and like your channel. This ride is just not good and promo funded opinions are skeptical. Besides, I watched Disney’s ‘edited’ release video and a few others ride through and didn’t like anything I saw. Yes, modern animatronics and modern tech. Ok. But the story is horrible and missing the entire point of the drop and scare. Disney has failed with the cheap overlay.
I hope you were happy enjoying that ride, Jack. I'm waiting for the possibility of the sequel show Tiana to come to Disney Plus and for The Princess and the Frog to become a live-action/CGI adaptation. Tiana's Foods' establishment was also the birth of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit! If Disney Storyline Studios were born, all the bonus Princess and the Frog stories can be turned real.
Yes I super like this ride! I never got the story of splash mountain. It looks fantastic. And it is something new to experience. Go to Japan if you want Splash Mountain.
Decent review Jack. I think the ride gotn ome unfair hate to begin with. It's of course sad to see a classic go or change... Bit i think they have done a good job here from what you have shown
Tiana and her voice actress, Anika Noni Rose, are good to celebrate Black History Month with and Dr. Facilier had a daughter named Celia in Descendants 3.
Jack all the darkness behind you in your reverse view belies tour claim of emptiness between scenes. They didn’t even bother to extend basic swamp theming into no show areas. I also notice the room dimension much more than sm. They did a poor job in camouflage not just here but in several other ‘updates’ around their parks. the lack of a story makes me care less about the character because I’m not invested in her quest. The garden need way more animated vegetables to make it mildly interesting. And if they wanted a party atmosphere in the last lift, they could have hung lanterns and animatronics along the way up to make it a party. Simple lighting , not a laser - would have sold the thin story a little more. Lastly, did anyone see anything that looked liked the purported salt of the mine? I thought this took place there, so missed opportunity for some huge salt crystal, if you wanted to get small.
$350 million to $1 billion for the Galactic Star Cruiser, $4 billion on Lucasfilm, $150+ million for the Acolyte, countless millions on the Snow White reshoots, yet Disney couldn't Keep Splash Mountain and build a brand new Princess and the Frog ride?
No doubt Splash Mountain will be missed, but I think The Bayou Adventure has the potential to be a memorable ride too. I would only hope to see the amazing Imagineers find ways to fill in some areas where the ride may seem a bit idol with just a simple effect to grasp one’s attention more while transitioning to some of the animatronics where it may seem like they are waiting for you to get close before speaking to you. (Where Tiana is sitting, maybe an effect to seem like fireflies in the dark space are going around and over the boats with some speaking about them heading to the party or something) And definitely incorporate a not so scary Dr. Facilier at the shrinking. I think that would would boost the storyline and make that part of the ride seem very much intended! Overall I’m excited to experience the ride, the atmosphere of the attraction at night and the scenes, especially that amazing finale scene!
The story looks like crap. Who cares except those that follow this story - which I never will. So I’ve lost one of the best rides that I grew up with for many years. Disney doesn’t care and neither will I.

Thanks so much for this ride threw. I'll let this grow on me and may just eventually watch the movie one day after too lol.
I’m looking forward to seeing it. Like Walt said about Disneyland, “ it’s never finished “ Tiana is here to stay for awhile.
🎉🎉 good work Jack
Thanks for the ride! Nice video coverage! Can’t wait to try it out!
Thanks for the video. Hope your whole day at the magic kingdom was good. God bless Jack.
Thank you, Jack! Your POV video has made me excited to ride the attraction.
What is funny is the reason they gave to get rid of splash mountain and replaced it with something that has the same problem 😂😂😂😂
I’m so glad they invited you out I wanted to say hi to ya! Big fan but I was working in the station just know love your channel!
The first season of Disney's Hailey's On It finished and Inside Out 2 is about to be released!
Gotta get the dad jokes in 😂. Still looks fun regardless of the backlash
Disney should have done was spread out the animatronics better. That would help with the empty spots in the ride so each time you enter a scene if gives you something to see.
Wonderful coverage. I always appreciate hearing your point of view.
Signed up for queue early am today and finally got on at 8pm. Liked it, but it kept breaking down. I do miss Splash quite a bit. Got very soaked too.
This was so fun to watch! Can't wait to experience this 😭🐸🪷
how are you connecting your camera to the ride? can you tell me what clamp/connection you used?
Disney installed a special rig on the logs. They mounted our phones. Liability reasons we were allowed to set them up ourselves.
@@DSNYNewscast thanks. so they did it for the event only. have you thought of taking a 360 camera? i mean with a ride like that you can record 360 and post edit what you want on a video or post the whole 360. my channel i have 360 video of some rides. trying to do more.
There’s already a channel that has done it and done it better than I would probably do it, so go check them out
hear that? Disney got involved. Seems like a totally fair and unbiased review... lmao
Jack i think you would love the ride regardless on what is in the SWAMP lmao
Disney screwed the pooch again.
Username checks out
I was never interested in splash mountain…got into theme parks when I had my 1st born in 2017…I’m all in for Tiana’s …going next month just wondering if I should go to Tiana’s mid afternoon or at night to enjoy the bayou lights
Why do the Tiana animatronics look like she's hella drunk off moonshine?
That was a Bruce Springsteen song "Blinded by the Light"
I know it from ELO, and the version they recorded. Interesting that it was a Bruce Springsteen song!
@@DSNYNewscast Actually ELO never recorded it,it was Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Many thought it was ELO. Anyway, great POV and I hope to be able to ride Disneylands version in October.
I love what you do
Splash mountain had story telling. Disney doesn't know how to Disney anymore.
Honestly, not impressed with the ride update.
Yes they do!
They still know how to do it and always will.
@benmalsky9834 lol I bet you buy into everything they do
@@Bravado1989 I am. You have a problem with that?
Jack, we need a POV and ride through analysis on every ride now. This is the best 🫶
A lot of rumors and patents filed! I keep checking everyday for a new video lol give us the news 👀😂😂
Working on it! New news video coming soon!
Would love to know your thoughts on this
This is great. 😂
Jesus Christ is there anything Tiana related this kid DOESN’T comment on?!
@@JDMACCC I'm not a kid. :)
@@DrewtheDisneyDude that sounds a lot like something a kid would say
Great work!!!. What happened to the water from the great fall?
It is there, that clip was taken on the first day of cast previews when they had turned off the waterfall effect for the drop for some testing reason.
Are the scenes as dark as pirates of the caribbean ride?
The progression in all electric animatronics gives me hope we could see a much lighter version of the Expedition Everest Yeti installed at some point.
I don’t think it bad some people just wanna hate to hate
I agree. This looks magical. Love the dark forest vibe
It has been said that the ride system has been upgraded
Are beignets served anywhere in the MK now? They should have put this ride in the Port Orleans resort grounds.
They’re going to serve them at the Golden Oak outpost near Pecos Bills. But still waiting on confirmation of a permanent location.
Looks fun for what it is, but I think they definitely F'd up in terms of the story and not having a villain. Yes I know it's "after the movie" or what not, but with this track profile it should've just been based off the movie, imo
Hope Disneyland's opens soon
My guess is around September or October
How sad to see Jack fake it this hard, at least he didn't have to pretend the animatronics were working. 💩 Losing cred.
Bro just let people enjoy things goddamn
@@Joopitor Is that what we're doing?
He got four hundred dollars in merchandise and a free stay at the contemporary way to go pixie duster
I live local to Orlando, so no free stay at the Contemporary. And Disney gave me $100 on a gift card to buy some food over 2 days. Also haven’t received any such merchandise either yet.
lol… haven’t received yet. Disney financed commercial. 🤡
The end of an American classic. Jack is so shilling it.
It’s just not as good as Splash Mountain!.Other than the improved animatronics there’s nothing great about it. Very disappointing.
Boo hoo
I want this ride
Way to go, Jack
It's good but it's not splash mountain : (
I'm seeing more and more of these preview videos with empty ride vehicles, where is everybody? Not a good sign!
It was part of a media preview. They have like 50+ logs cycling through the attraction. And they were spacing the media out for the rider-cam videos.
Jack is really try to sell this and shill Disney hard…
I wish they would be honest and say how much Disney pays .
Disney didn’t pay me. They did provide $100 on a Disney gift card to purchase food during the 2 day media event. That is all.
@@DSNYNewscastappreciate the transparency! Thank you
Do you say this to literally everyone who’s just having a good time and who’s on a positive state of mind?
@@DSNYNewscast also for the event was it true they paid for everyone to stay at the Contemporary and hand out 500 dollar goodie bags ?
No clip on mic?
Yeah, I don’t bother since you can do a lot in post-editing. Plus I find the clip-on mics annoying
The story looks like crap. Who cares except those that follow this story - which I never will. So I’ve lost one of the best rides that I grew up with for many years. Disney doesn’t care and neither will I.
Nice video footage of Tiana's Bayou Adventure, Jack Kendall. This new attraction is awesome!
Bayou in a mountain 😂
Almost as crazy as talking animals
@@abraxishalliwell9645exactly. But these goobers will find anything to hate
The red clay and rockwork were beautiful then and still beautiful today. Tony Baxter's hard work makes this Lousiana Avery Island Bayou salt mine swamp look amazng!
It NEVER looked like the Old South. When they first built it they shoved an Old South IP into an Old West landscape.
@@LowTide941 No you’re just so slow to understand that Bayou and Mountain are literally two opposite geographical environment… Next time try to blend Frozen Ever After in the Mexican Pavillon
Jack, I saw you on TV. You are a big star now having been on How Disney Built America!
I wouldn’t say “big star” 😂 but it was very cool to finally be seen as a “Disney Expert” by the History Channel!
As someone who never really loved splashed mountain. This is fine. It’s the same thing with better characters, better animatronics, better set dressing, but less danger and not as “iconic” songs. I think if this was the version of Splash Mountain I was introduced to as a kid I would have liked it a lot more since I was a bit of a scaredy cat. The story could use work though and the danger will be missed
Can’t wait til you can get your little one on rides & see them review!
I just see lost potential when watching this video.
I see lost potential when anything Disney comes out these days.
