Turbos or not, the most important thing is the rules... I dont know exactly what are the rules, but USUALLY you have Nitro, Roots blown, Screw blown, Turbos and Centrifugal superchargers. Nitro cars have the biggest engines, lowest weight, while Turbos and Screw blowers are more limited both on engine and weight. These turbos dont even have a waste gate and boost is in the roof. Years ago (2017 i think) John Zappia runs an screw supercharged car at 5.42 @ 265... We also have the fastest side by side run with 5.46@272mph (Turbos) -vs- 5.47@263mph (Screw) and that was in 2014... My point here is: What they can do with all we have now, with the rules? If we go back to 2014 with rules of the Pro Extreme or Outlaws... Those numbers can drop even more. Funny cars with screw superchargers are limited to 92%... Those ''owtlaws'' are running with 128% i think... (same as a Top Alcohol Dragster). Remember that we have almost a decade of evolution from 2014 to here. If im not mistaken, Frankie Taylor (Screw blown pro mod) was running with mechanical injection at the time.

Not to mention batteries are advancing rapidly and eventually we will get electric drag cars, that have instant torque. Drag racing has been slowly progressing for a bit something is bound to change.

Not trying to knock his impressive performance. Wicked quick pass! But these cars are 100% computer controlled with a very advanced digital EFI and traction control engine control system. If you took all that away, made them run a Mag and Mechanical fuel injection like a TAFC they wouldn't even be close. Just sayin.

MISSION SPEEDWAY was originally right beside the city across the train tracks on the city's non development land ! the executives of the BCCA car club with major help from the city's commerce built a modern public race track with a NHRA charter in 14 months ! the track was historic due to it's powerful atmosphere and attitude, 12 feet abouve sea level, every pro racer was there period ! as a kid I saw Ed Roth's YELLOW FANG dragster getting roughed up during qualifying ! local north west NITRO legend's Dave Benjamin and Jerry Ruth were right there helping "big daddy roth" get in the show ! so we move the track away about 8 miles in the 1980's on a extremely flat riverfront, thats the track today, 100% concrete, NHRA div.6 charter, this track holds the most sportsman records in the world ! in 2016 the California OUTLAW pro modified association was booked ! I had only seem IHRA and NHRA pro modified cars run 5.90's ! Mike Maggio from Los Angeles ran a 5.35 ! I saw it ! so my question is what rules ? Maggio's outlaw car was 2290lbs. no restriction's to any power adders.
