- I'm so hyped about this! I've been working with Waves for a few weeks now on this launch. I've given my feedback and they've been amazing to work with. As amazing as this sampler is I'm even more excited bout the new Cosmos AI-powered sample finder. It finds and auto-tags your samples by type, BPM, etc. Let's jump in here and I'll show you a song I made entirely from the free Cosmos samples and give you a walkthrough of both the CR8 Sampler as well as the Cosmos Sample Finder.

Great positive personality Beau (just subbed) and great review of Cosmos which is currently databasing my ludicrously large library of samples. Yes, absolute kudos to Waves for making this free which compensates a little for their rather unfair update plan which has made me less likely to add to my large collection of Waves plugs. This is a great move by them and is so damn useful!

Good eye! Those are so great! There’s a record store in Dallas (I’m sure it’s still there) called Good Records that sells those huge album covers. I got in a habit of collecting them over the years. I’ve given about half of them away but have kept my favorites :)

Where are all my Loops & One shots stored in COSMOS/CR8??? Am I duplicating them each time I call them up into cosmos? Great demo on this!
You have to set their library source and then you can find them on the left side. Mine, for instance, are mostly from my Splice Account. As for duplicating them, I don’t believe so since all of the edits are housed inside of the sampler, but I can’t say for sure. I’d recommend keeping all samples on an external though. That way you never lose everything (which I have done). :)

Thanks so much for watching! Unfortunately no, I don’t believe so. You can use the Cosmo sample finder in standalone, but you’ll need the DAW for CR8.

I use mixed in key to find the key of my samples and Como's had half the samples in another key. I'm not sure who's algorithm is more accurate.
They’re both great for sure, I’d kind of forgotten about Mixed In Key!
I feel like Cosmos is easier on the cpu. Adsr mgr quit working for me.
Maschine mk3 has been my intro to sampling and I'm getting the hang. I bought CR8 a few months ago but didn't have a clue how to use it. I feel like I'll have a much better idea now.
The first thing I sampled was the intro to bomb the bass megablast. Don't ask why, I just loved the album it came from back in the day!

In the process of indexing my samples through Cosmos. I'm not finding it to be very accurate. It seems to be incorrectly categorizing a LOT of files. I have about 141,400 files and expected to see mistakes, but not this many and I still about 2,000 files left to index. It seems to be better than others I tired, not far from perfect. Not sue, but Loopcloud might have done a better job and the indexing was much, much faster. Also, Cosmos no longer free. You have to pay for it directly, or get it when you purchase CR8 or a subscription.
How does this sampler compare to the sampler in Logic Pro?
Hmm. Well the chopping feature is much better in Logic, but this sampler’s real power is in the modular design of being able to attach envelopes and ADSR to put them into motion. That being said I find myself bouncing back and forth between the two pretty effortlessly and without really thinking about it. So I’m the end they’re kind of different but pretty complimentary. :)
The sampler finder technology is open source and has been around for a while.

Hi mate, how do you get cosmos? I signed up with waves and when i try to download cos mos nothing is happening. its keeps saying it has sent me a copy of cos already but i cant see where they sent it. Also there is nothing in my cart? Can you help?
Strange. Are you saying you bought CR8 as well? Perhaps it downloaded with CR8. Otherwise it might just be a file management issue.

i just bought it and i have one question.. Can you chop samples with this like in serato sample and slicex and play them with your keyboard/pads?
Yo. Awesome! Yes, but it’s the one thing that isn’t super quick. I just wrote a reply trying to explain it but I did a terrible job lol. This video should cover it. You do it by duplicating multiple layers and selecting the start and end points. It’s still fast, but it’s no auto slice, which I’m sure they’ll add in an update.

Why would YOU use this when you have an AKAI FORCE and Logic Pro?
That’s a fair question. Honestly, for the same reason that I use Maschine, Force, or Logic. It’s just about shifting up the workflow. For me, I find that if I use one workflow for too long of a consecutive period I end up making the same sound over and over. Changing up my workflow helps me keep things fresh. Now, as cool as I think CR8 is, it’s Cosmos that I’m most pumped about. That file manager is a 10/10 in my opinion :)

Cosmos is NOT free anymore I've just purchased the CR8 and cosmos is no where to be found it will NOT launch and when you visit the forum there are some issue with cosmos I don't need issue I have enough to do making music CR8 seems to be pretty good but I must go back to what I was using it is more reliable than fussing with Cosmos, hell I don't even have cosmos with my CR8 this is false advertisement!!!
