As a Nigerian, I don't have a problem with this casting. There will only be a problem if they do not give the roles of other main characters and supporting characters to Nigerian actors.
To all those who don't get it, he is being paid to play a role i.e, act and in case you guys forgot it is also a business and his name pulls a lot of eyeballs more than any other Nollywood star. We don't hear anything when there are Nigerians in Hollywood playing original Black American roles.
The problem with you guys is even when you know the right thing to say, your delivery is poor especially when it has to do with Nigeria. You started your comment well but ended it poorly because I've not seen any Nigerian actor playing a major role in Hollywood movies because you can't classify Nigerians that were born abroad or grew up there as Nigerian actors in this case because they are part of Hollywood. I can also tell you that there's an issue with the beginning of your comment even though you have a strong point, yes it is business and Idris will pull a lot of eye-ball but how does that really benefit the Nigerian film industry when it's not a Nollywood movie?

I think something is off about this video giving that a Ghanian is the one pushing the narrative and I've not seen any Nigerian blogger mention this. We all are celebrating the success of one of Africa's greatest writer and you are talking about casting. Dude we don't have any problem as long as African stories are told by Hollywood the way they ought to be told (in the African way) not the way Hollywood wants to tell it (the Western way) because culture is important in that nareativ. Personally I care more about the Director than the actors because the vision belongs to the Director and like Denzel Washington once said "It's more about culture not color" The entire cast can be Black Americans for all I care but if the Director doesn't understand Nigerian culture then trust me the movie will get a lot of backlash which is why I'm more concerned about the person telling the story (i.e the Director) than the person being used to tell the story. Idris can have fun. He's good. Nobody disputes that but I feel there are sinister motives behind this post because a Nigerian can't speak for Ghana film industry so why should a Ghanian speak for Nollywood? When Ghanaians were complaining about Lil Wayne bringing in Ramson Noah and other Nigerians to make his movies Ghanian celebrities and UA-camrs spoke against it. Which is understandable because they were speaking for themselves even though it's a sign of inferiority complex. So you can't accuse us of saying something because you think we ought to say something. If this was really a big issue Nigerians will have mentioned it in entertainment news and shows just the way Ghanaians couldn't stop talking about Nigerians in Ghanaian movies. You are inferior doesn't mean we are inferior. If we were we won't be having this conversation because nobody would be interested in Chinua Achebe's book.

Everything is not nationality politics or inferiority or whatever. I talk about movies a lot on my channel so I decided to talk about a movie related topic. That's it. All you had to was do a simple search and see where the news is coming from and see the discussion around it. The fact that you don't see something does not mean it's not happening.
