I was there in the Jungchang gymnasium last night, and this was definitely the dopest battle of the night. For those that don't know, they were so well matched that in the end USA won by points (as both had won two categories) and the points were USA 146-145 Korea. I personally thought that a tiebreaker would have been more fair, but both teams really killed it, and I think that the fact that the result was so close testifies of balanced judging.

+Ryan Cho Yeah, Korea has the best routines in the world, but I swear it puts me out of the battle as often as not. That raw aggression of one man going after the opponent fearlessly can really help sometimes. Vero knows what I'm talking about, haha.

#1 this was almost a dead heat could have gone either way. #2 This is a CREW battle not a 1v1. Crews need to stop being able to get away with not responding to routines im sorry. Teamwork is part of it. Not being able to respond with routines shows your crew is unprepared. Getting away with just commandos needs to stop. #3 the OUR system needs to go. It should be judged per set and per routine no more points

I think this would be the job of the battle category judge. If a team doesn't respond to routines they should get low points in the battle category. So the O.U.R system still works. It really depends on the judges. Well, we have to rewatch the battle with the scores. But damn this battle was straight fire
+Luminym I disagree, I think if a crew can't respond with a routine it should effect every category not just the battle category. You can't just do solos in a crew battle, that's not what a crew battle is. I also like @Myers suggestion it should be judged round by round. Winning by points from a tie shouldn't happen
Yeah but it was a lot easier for the Korean team to make routines since they live close to each other. These American bboys live all over the place

As a Korean American, I am having mixed feelings about this. Personally, I think Korea took the TEAM finals
At this point I don't care who wins I just want to see the best battlers go at it, it's always hype watching Korea and USA square off. Great skill.

Some really good sets but it look like the judges didn't really count the routines in this battle. Which is unfair but "kinda" understandable, it is pretty much half Jinjo and half Fusion MC so they would automatically have better teamwork between each other. It was a dope battle but and I'd say even but if routines are counted then I'd give it to Team Korea. If it was a battle with out the R16 scoring I'd say that Gravity last set was what took it for the judges.
Koreas routines were good but USA had a beast of a team. Gravity wrecked shop on that last set, it was over after that. Victor is crazy!

Korea has creative way of incorporating dance moves and bboy power moves. As for the USA they stuck with the one on one bboy battle performance. How they judge these battles will always be a mystery to me.

Yes that one guy from USA was better than everybody but Korean team was better in overall. Korea got robbed.Unfair decision is the reason bboy is not much famous these days.
I don't wanna talk about who won the battle, but I want people to note that Bboy Goblin now stands out to be one of the best Korean bboys out there. His foundation, musicality, and the flow is near perfection. I can literally see the whole Rivers Crew in him. Bboy Born (Foundation), Bboy Physicx (Powermoves), Bboy Bang Rok (Top Rock), Bboy Benny Ben (Swagger). I can only wish I can breakdance as freely as he does.
great sets from both sides. i'm biased towards cypher mentality rather than choreographic sets so i leaned towards USA but both sides did what they specialize in well
Yea I agree, except in all honesty USA was doing the same thing majority of them were doing choreographed sets as well. The idea where USA bboys do freestyle instead of sets doesn't really exist anymore sad to say

Wooo fresh battle! So much fire from both sides. I thought US had better solos and Korea had better teamwork and blowups. Music was dope! You could tell both crews were becoming energized from the music.

i hope next time R16 won't have a live band. as much as I appreciate it and understand that it adds a certain value to the whole music, at time the band was just a... well.. mess. I would have preferred the event to be without the live band.

Such a dope battle. Like this could have been IBE instead lol. Why do we need judges? Just let them battle for 30 minutes. I personally liked Korea better because they had more originality and bboys of very different styles. USA had a beast line up, i dont know why, but it bothered me when more than half the US bboys had a windmill variation in their sets...:/...the only ones who stood out was Gravity, Morris, and Victor. Compared to Korea, korea's whole team really stood out with individuality and team work. Should have just kept the battle with "no team work or commandos" to be more fair with judging. hate to say it, but Korea should have had it. I know it's battle strategy as well, but USA was overdoing it with the mocking of each bboys' style from Korea...let the dancers dance, it's distracting when the you got a guy from USA sitting there just mocking korea's every move and freeze. R16 stands for "RESPECT" for a reason. Both sides were dope, and im not D*** riding Korea, but Korea edged it out for me round per round. Close battle tho.

i knw r16 has different categories to mark the bboys but a same move could be very basic bt kill the beat and another very hard bt not in beat or style bt it wins.

Dope battle, hella fire. I like how people will point out how USA didn't respond to routines, but won't admit to the koreans crashing several times really heavy... The Americans saw this and took advantage, honestly I feel if it was based round for round then USA easily won, but the routines made it a lot loser. Starvin, Gravity, Morris, Vic were monsters this battle.
i love the battle and individual skills... as a dancer there should be musicality thats why we are dancer not from circus .. but no one was dancing in music even the beat was very nice....they were doing same old sets...sorry but its true....i had great hope in this r16..that i see dancers now days even power mover dance in beat..as best part of bboying is we have the coolest beat (music)..such a waste... for me Korea was winner

They probably lost because of the repeats. Some ppl that watch these finals never watch the entire event. So they dont know that sometimes the crew in the finals ends up recycling routines and moves from previous matches in that same event so that will count against them.
