- 新加坡開放中國旅客免簽首三日，單從上海出發旅客就暴增15倍，但新加坡並沒有出現香港當年開放陸客自由行的亂象。有學者分析，從北京最近放寬資金流到新加坡限制的舉動看，中新互免簽證只是第一步，讓新加坡成為另一集資窗口取代香港，才是北京的戰略目標。 新加坡的反應是，經濟上可以合作，但對北京的政治干預却處處設防。

I find it rather amusing that HK always treats Singapore as a threat, and that the focus is always about being the top financial center in Asia, whereas Singapore has never saw it that way. Being a successful country/city/territory is not just about being the top financial center, it is also about all the other industries and quality of life. Singapore excels in many other industries, which barely exist in Hong Kong. Singapore is the the world's busiest transshipment port, is one of the top oil refinery countries in the world, has a sizeable top end manufacturing industry that Hong Kong does not have, among others. Being just a top financial center does not make a place better than the other.
Hongkies are just salty ccp screwed up them up.

曾有记者问"香港没落新加坡是否成为了大嬴家"?李显龙总理回答："我们看的是长远利益，只有周边地区安定繁荣，我们才会有更多的商机和投资合作机会，我们希望香港继续繁荣"！
其实新加坡真的从来不将香港视为竞争对手，也不会羡慕来得快去也快过烟云烟股市。
90年代新加坡口号是"学习瑞士🇨🇭"！国际财富管理中心这大肥肉才是新加坡政府🇸🇬垂涎的目标，吸金又才富豪带整副身家移民，巨额资金或顶尖人物长期留在本地高端消费和产生副加值这远比五时花六时草的股票市场更有利可图!
世界级印度🇮🇳顶尖富豪和巨富李嘉诚等都在前年在新加坡🇸🇬开设了私人家族办公室，相映成趣的是香港🇭🇰精英走了30多万人，而新加坡却吸金又吸才，世界亿万富豪排队开设私人银行或移民！

The constitution also states that the four commonly used languages of Singapore are English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil, with the lingua franca between Singaporeans of different races being English, the de facto main language and our common working language is English

I'm just cherry picking two examples why family business office chose sg over hk, "Recognisable and Identifiable," this is no secret to many. HK may be recognisable but may not be identifiable these days.
The Ministers in Singapore can't be bothered with those Hong Kong Ministers that despised sg because their remunerations were very much higher than their counterparts.

This is because HK people only focus in 2 areas - properties and finance. Everyone in HK are ‘expert’ in these 2 areas and whole day talk nothing but only these 2 topics. How pathetic! And most laughable is that they think other countries placed the same importance in only these 2 areas too. HK people always say Singapore is a boring place but this Singaporean here think HK may be an ‘interesting’ place but HK people are the most boring group of people on planet Earth

Hong Kong spirit will alway be hong kong spirit. No one can replace them. I remember my friend told me when he work in TCS, there a lot of movie prop sets to be strike and set up. Hong Kong Master Tradesman can set up a movie prop in 3 hours, Singaporean can only do it in 1 day.

To put it simply: Almost 3 years back, Hong Kong had a good thing going. Unfortunately, you guys think you could change things and try to be "democratic" like the west, and you guys screw it up - big time. All the riots and dissent came to nothing - only your own people suffered. Who could you blame for the current situation in HK? For Singapore, we do what is best for us - our political and social systems do not try to be a copy of any other country. Does the US or Europe have a system that is to be emulated and "worshipped"? The current situation is opened to the world to see, and you decide for yourselves.
HK 自己玩死自己. The HK people are complacent and naive all these years, thinking that whatever glory they obtained in the past will remain with them forever, 十年不变. Complacent, no foresight and no strategic planning all these years after 1997 handover. Naive and easily manipulated by external forces, democracy and freedom are the golden words to them even though they did not enjoy democracy and freedom for the past 100 over years under British ruling. Now, the Chinese dare not trust them too
