I see you used a OBD2 Device and app Car Scanner Pro to set the rear brakes into service mode. I presume this only sets the Parking Brake to off because you still had to wind in the cslliper pistons? Do you think you would get the same result if you released the electric parking brake from inside the car THEN disconnected the 12v battery, would the Parking brake still be off?
I would say yes to prevent possible issues, (on a different car a Prius Hybrid) the brakes can apply themselves further and this could push the pistons out of the callipers if you were working on the brakes while the 12v was still connected.
