10 WEIRD and Unique Roller Coaster Things I Love

- I have made over 200 Trips to more than 20 different theme parks over the last few years and one of my favorite things to do is study the roller coasters before each trip and learn what elements they have to offer and what I can expect. I always find after going to the same park many times I start to like weird and unique details I would have never thought about before my trip. This is mostly for fun and includes elements along with many other small details. This is 10 Weird and Unique Roller Coaster Things I Love.
If you enjoyed this video I hope you will consider subscribing to my channel @Okaycoasters

Weird things i love about this video, the dialup sound from 2003 😂 i actually got rid of dialup in 2001 but the memory and pain is real
Haha I probably got rid of mine about the same time......I do remember trying to load the Kings Island page and the picture was loading slow just like the video I showed....haha
Nothing worse than dialing up to connect to the internet, but then at the last minute, the connection cuts out.
I personally like the sound of a B&M roar and an Arrow chain lift. Those are iconic roller coaster sounds that always get me hyped to ride. In fact, I always lose my voice when riding Raptor because I like to scream/yell louder than the roar and the ride is just that good.
Cannot agree more!!! Sound of B&M roar will always be a favorite......Also When was going thru my footage of lift hills I liked the sound of Magnum XL's the best but it had to much background noise.....Also I always like the sound of all the Arrow loopers.
Of my experiences thusfar, great bear has the coolest roar, growl, howl, whatever one might call it. It can be heard from far away. Pretty good suspended coaster to boot.
PTC trains on a lift hill, An Arrow brake run, a B&M brake run, an Intiman LIM sound.
If there is one thing I love, is I'll stop and just watch a coaster go, forgetting what I was doing. Its just super satisfying and nice to watch a coaster rush through its layout. I'll also be building a PlanCo park, then get distracted and start watching my coasters.
I also love lift hill sounds like Arrow, and B&M inverts (mainly Afterburn) leaving the station. I still remember the sound of Afterburn leaving the station like I was there yesterday. Also El Toro's roaring airtime hills. I haven't been to Great Adventure since the mid-2010s and I still remember the sound of a bull going over those hills.
I do the same thing haha
okaycoasters I like the sound Leviathan makes through it’s tunnel, that short pulse of roar bounced back by the tunnel at the pullout of the drop
I always get so invested in your videos. Awesome cinematography, editing, and narratives. Keep up the amazing work!
Thank you so much I really appreciate the support
Most underrated coaster channel on youtube, quality content as always!
Haha Thanks !!!!
I have a knack for onride audio.
I totally agree with you on FoF. You see everyone get launched, but the train comes back empty and it makes you wonder what's gonna happen to you. That is really an overlooked part of the ride.
Also I think the reason Intamin doesn’t do hydraulic launches anymore is because they are a nightmare to maintain.
Im sure that has to be part of the decision.
It's all LSMs now
@@johnfoltz8183 yeah, hopefully tgey figure a way to make the LSM's pack a punch and add the susspence like the hydraulics did, though s&s already improoved that with their air compressed
If you know its a intamin LSM or a Vekoma LSM you know that it will be the strongest.
You can almost spell Maintain with the letters from Intamin. Not quite, but i though that was cool
Thank you for brightening my Sunday morning! Interesting take on Dive coasters, haven’t been on one yet but now looking that much more forward to going on one now. Once again, incredible quality video!
Haha Thank you so much !!!
For me, I love the roar of the Great Bear. Brings a smile to my face everytime :)
I agree with so many things you mention in here. I love your observations. Your content is original and done incredibly well! Easily one of my favorite channels now.
WOW THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!! I really appreciate that !!!!!!
The description of the dive coaster drop was just spot on. All of the characters you’d encounter if you dared ride.
Thank You !!!
I love that all 4 of Maverick’s water cannons are still fully functional after 13 season of operation! I just wish Maverick had some of the additional theming that was in the original animation.
Thank you!!! I need to go and watch that
It wouldn't be hard for the park to add those additional decorations, but would be cool for some near misses and such. At least the park restored the effects in the tunnel recently.
Thanks for being my inspiration man. I'm working on my first vi right now, and honestly your style and attitude is what finally convinced be to get started. Such amazing content!
Wow that Is so Awesome to hear!!!! Thank you so much !!!
I absolutely love your videos. They’re amazing quality and delve into why us enthusiast love coasters and parks so much. And if i was gp and watching this id have a better understanding of what drives our passion. You will eventually have a million subscribers your vids are that good. I followed theme park worldwide from the beginning and knew hed be doin big things, i think exactly the same about you, absolute perfection.
Wow thank you so much I really appreciate that!!! I also enjoy Theme Park Worldwide.
okaycoasters no worries my friend, keep up the good work buddy, subscriber for life!
Honestly I like the clicks and clacks of a wooden coaster going through its course
Dude! I just found your channel and count me in as a subscriber. Your videos are well edited and the narration is spot on. Some channels can belabor their points or just really snobby with their opinions. None of the videos I've watched of yours have been anywhere close to that. Count me in as a subscriber.
Thank you so much for the support !!!
For me I care if it looks like fun. If the ride looks like fun and a good time, I will probably ride it.
Growing up Six Flags Astroworld was my home park, and the sounds of the Ultra Twister’s and XLR-8’s lift hills are very fond memories.
I’m glad I found this channel, the content is so well produced
Thank you so much !!!!
Great video with TOP-NOTCH editing! I think all coaster enthusiasts can relate to these subtle-but-unmistakable characteristics of coasters that you mentioned here. By the way, have you considered setting up a Patreon for this channel? I really feel like I should be paying for this art!
Thank you so much I really appreciate that! I have not considered it. I am just thankful to have people watching. Thank you again.
Passionate people can make people excited for their hobbies and your passion just screams out from these videos - it’s electric!! I don’t know what you do for a living... but you deserve to make a living out of content like this 👌
Thank you so much!!! I really just do it for fun but hopefully one day I can do work like this
Congrats on hitting 5K!
And I just want to say thank you. The last few weeks have been frustrating because this was gonna be the year I finally hit up some theme parks outside of Florida and cross off a huge chunk of my bucket list. Sadly I'm not sure it's gonna happen this year so watching your content as well as the others on UA-cam makes it easier to get thru this hard time. Keep up the great work you are doing.
Right there with you. My credit count at the start of the year was 51. A trip thru Orlando and Tampa in February got it to 65. I have one trip planned thru Virginia, New Jersey and Pennsylvania that would double that number. It is set for the end of June/ early July. Getting more and more pessimistic that it will happen. Already have tix for King's Dominion and Kentucky Kingdom for this year. Hope I can use them, as well as the SFOG membership.
Sounds like a great trip planned. Hopefully things start looking better soon.
Thank you again. I have been watching alot of content as well !!!
i love it when h says gittin it
I think we all knew this would be the next vid, and it's awesome!
Thanks!
Congrats on 5K! Well deserved. You capture the spirit of what we love about coasters better than anyone. Another masterpiece!
Thank you so much again. I know you have been here since the channel only had a few hundred. Thank you for the support
I just get the tingles thinking about all these little weird things. Im so glad there are other people out there who think the same! I need a coaster buddy immediately
I have to agree on the hydralics. My homepark is Busch Gardens Tampa, and almost every visit I will stand next to that second long magnet run for Cheetah Hunt and just watch the trains zoom by and be treated to the sound of the hissing brakes moving in and out of position, and the unique sound the trains make when they pass over them. You know the sound! That interesting airy whizzing noise. Love it!
Couldn't agree more. Thats my favorite one to watch
This was such a great video!! 2 things that I really love about coasters are the station music, and ride ops who not only love being ride ops,but who also love the coaster!! Great job man!! Ride on!!
Yes that is 2 really good points you make and it always makes the ride more fun
THIS CHANNEL IS AMAZING BRO I COULD STAND HERE WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS FOR 10 HOURS LOVE YOUR CONTENT
As always awesome video!! You and Sam are my fav!
Great work as always. Your content is amazing. Awesome scripting and production values.
Thanks !!!!
I love the smell of The Beast chain grease in the sun. Of coarse the night rides are legendary, but I'd legit buy a candle of that grease in the Ohio sun 😂 Takes me right back to the first time I rode it as a kid...amazing memories! Great video as always, my friend! 👍🤘
Flight Deck @CGA has a killer finale, it’s highest speeds are at the end of the ride, right after you pop out of a corkscrew. Halfway through the ride, the course leads you up and over the station, revealing a corkscrew and a sweet lake behind the ride. Once over the station, you drop a few feet into the corkscrew, rising 20-30 more feet and then dropping a longer 30-40 feet, then you go rocketing around a helix OVER said lake. The highlight, aside from the surprise-increased speed, is that cool rush from the water that smacks you in the face that just wasn’t there a moment ago. Couple that with the incredible, sweeping view across the lake, and what you have is AWESOME. We don’t even have the high heat here in NorCal that other parks around the world have but it is a welcome feeling every time.
Nails about everything I love about roller coasters in my own right. For me, it's nothing like hearing the spiels: "And now prepare to enjoy the POWER & SPEED of the mythical, GRIFFON!!" & "Now get ready, HERE WE GO!!"
Thank You!!! Funny because when I read your comment I could hear that coming over the speakers just like I was at the park....Thats a good one.
@@Okaycoasters As my coworkers say at my Amtrak job, "You're doing a FINE JOB!!" Made me stop what I was doing once I saw ur video (luckily i'm in the office today, not on trains)
I absolutely love hydraulic sounds too. I agree with most of what you said. Fantastic video!!!
Thank you !!!
Wow, another awesome video. --- such great production and narrative quality. Nice tribute to Banshee with all the subtle*(well not so subtle) tributes to Son of Beast. My only trip to Kings Island was in May 2018 for a group trip with ACE to Cedar Point for the Steel Vengeance opening, and then my solo trip to Kings Island. I really enjoyed Banshee and withed that S.O.B. was still there.
Thank You !!
This video had me smiling wider than my first ride on Untamed. Amazing job!
Haha wow THANK YOU !!!!
Wow the productionvalue😍
This is literally the best coaster Video I've seen yet, just BECAUSE it's such a subjective thing. Everyone always tries to give an objective review about everything and I love you for not doing that!
Wow thank you so much for that and thanks for the support
Keep it up ive been here since 400 subs you have got really far Great Videos!
Thanks for all the support !!!!
I hardly ever comment on videos but man you are awesome! The quality of the videos you put out about my passion are so high quality! I love watching your stuff. Also it seems like you're in Virginia because of the parks you frequent, I'm also in VA and it would be so cool if I ran into you at Carowinds, Kings Dominion, or Busch Gardens.
Thank You so much for taking the time to comment and let me know that. I do go to those parks very often!!!!!
This really is one of the most underrated coaster channels!
Thanks so much !!!
Nearly 6k subscribers... you are amazing and your channel deserves this attention. Keep up the amazing work!
Thank so much again for all the support !!!
I love the different music in your vids
Love the video man! Son of Beast was great- only got to ride it once with the loop still there, it was absolutely a one of a kind ride. I'll regret not getting to ride Volcano while it was still around, but hey we can't hit em all- just gotta be thankful and fortunate for the ones we do! Take care and stay safe, keep coastin!
Thank you !!! Yea I got many rides on Volcano but I will always wish I could have experienced Son of Beast! Thats awesome you got to
My weird thing that I love about roller coasters is the interaction with the structure of the ride. Not exactly headchoppers, but when you're close to the supports, or surrounded by them. Like the lift hill then drop on Steel Curtain.
YES I really like that too !!!
I’m right there with you LRod’s speakers. It was my first RMC, my first ride was in the front with my Mom and I couldn’t be more excited in my entire life. Hearing those engines revving and the tires screeching made the experience sooooo much better! Another ride like that is Mako, the lift hill’s music makes that better as well!! Can’t wait to ride X2, hopefully their speakers are working lol
Thank you! I am so excited to hear the music on X2 as well. I dont remember music on Mako but it plays on Manta and I always like that and almost included it
okaycoasters Really?! Every time I ride Mako the music is blaring in the station and the lift hill. Ig it had the day off lol.
I love on Verbolten the different tributes toward Big Bad Wolf. From the license plate on one train to the one indoor themed area, to the finale finish over the old footers. They did well with all three there.
You know........I may include that in my part 2 video that I hope to release later. Good point
@@Okaycoasters awesome. I enjoyed this video. I was wondering if you were gonna mention that grease smell of an old woodie in there too. Dunno why, but nothing like that smell when you're next in line waiting to load.
Great video... sounds so cringey but you had me in tears with the music and genuine love you have for the industry. Really hit me in the feels
Wow thank you so much I really appreciate it!!! Thanks for watching
This is a channel where i like the video before i watch :)
Thank You !!!
Good work as always man.
Thanks !!!!
Hearing you talk about Fury 325 makes me want to jump in my car right now, drive to Carowinds, break into the park and fire up Fury!
Haha What a Comment !!!! Thanks !!!!
I’ve lived ten minutes from King’s Island my whole life. I distinctly remember the first time I rode Flight of Fear I was terrified. The humming, the cool darkness and... to make matters worse... an empty train approaches. Where did they go? What happened to them? I’ll never forget that first ride.
Haha that empty train is the best the first time you see it!!!
Great video. Your love shows through. I've seen a couple of your videos, but this one made me subscribe.
2 things come to mind for me. The chain oil smell on hot days (Sooperdooperlooper)
Also love the sound of all the electro magnet drive motors that move trains in and around the station. BONUS FEATURE of driving a Toyota hybrid vehicle... Our cars make the same noise and you really notice it in drive thru. Haha
Keep up the good work. Ive loved coasters all my life, so I never recall getting into them.
Thank you so much for the support!!! Yes those are are great ones!!!
Another amazing video dude! Theme park worldwide should take lessons in narration and editing from you! Love the music in this as well. Links?
Love your content! :)
Thanks !!!
For me it is the entrance! El toro is amazing walking over to it and just seeing the train go up its lift hill, make a turn then fly back to the earth hearing the El Toro fart!
Oh yes thats a great one for sure !!!
Awesome job!!! There's just something about coasters for us and boy are we missing that right now! Hope to get back at it soon and hope you are doing well! ~Dawn
Thanks again!!! We have been doing well hope y'all have too
I’m so proud to see you hit your 5000K milestone. Feels like yesterday you were a small channel of 145 subs that UA-cam insisted I watch, lol! Keep creating brother 💯✅
Thank you so much again!!! You have watched since the very early!!!!
Steel Vengeance tops my list of best coasters ever created on planet Earth.
It is INCREDIBLE
Another great video 👏👏👏
Thanks !!!
you earned yourself a subscriber, great video!
Thanks so much for the support !!!
Love your channel
Thank you !!!
Dude you missed your calling... These videos are TOO well done. You belong in Hollywood. I am now a subscriber.... Btw... Fury 325 is still the best coaster ever. No tricks, just pure intensity and fun.
Thank You so much!!!
"I imagine what happens when the train falls back" *Kärnan entered the chat*
THIS CHANNEL IS SO UNDERRATED.
Thank you!!! I really appreciate that
Awesome video, also i dont think you did a carowinds ranking yet but i may have missed it, if not id love to see that one
I have not yet but it is on my to do list! Thank You
@@Okaycoasters ok thanks for letting me know, stay safe and of course keep bringing the awesome content
SOB Some loved it, a lot hated it. I was younger and did not mind it to much. I did like the loop era a bit more though. Love the vids man keep it up.
Thanks again !!! Thats what I hear about it too. Awesome you got to experience it
9:12 that’s me every single roller coaster
Storm runner is underrated for sure
Great Ride!!!!
okaycoasters I love those powerful launches on the accelerators
One of my favorite things is kinda similar to the storm runner thing. On xcelerator, the launch is right out of the station so what I love doing is catching some kid's attention in line and staring at them as they count down, and then watching their face blur as I get launched
Basically, getting launched at that acceleration out of the station is fucking awesome
#11 the feeling of being completely out of control. X2 does the best job at this feeling and is also Arrow Dynamics greatest coaster they ever made. The simple feeling of strapping in to the seat thinking this ride was just like every other wing coaster, you are wrong. From the moment the train starts going up the hill and your seat tilts back, you have realized "what the hell did I just sign myself up to?" THEN they are not done, NO they are just getting started, that little bump in the drop at the top of the hill is the biggest "gotcha" moment for its the second one that is the most demonic element this ride has going. The minute the ride starts to edge over the hill is when they flip your seat facing straight down, and you feel as if your going to plummet to your death. It is at this point in the ride you have realized, you have no control in the situation and you just gotta roll with it.
I cannot wait to ride X2 it looks so Good!!!
Excellent video brother. It truly is the little things in combination that make these places we love so much so very special to us. Can't wait to get back to it once this stupid ass virus is subdued. Thanks for keeping content out there for us who are stuck in the house man.
Thank You so Much !!!
@@Okaycoasters Thank you man, channels like yours are our link right now. I think I can speak for everyone when I say we are truly grateful. Also, one more small thing that I love. The smell of the gear grease on an older wooden coaster. That's the smell of summer to me.
Oh Wow that really means a lot! Thank you.....haha I can smell it like I am at the park now! It’s perfect!!!
You create very good videos!
Thank You !!!
Nice video! Ki is my home park! Love the coaster lineup we have.
Thanks again !!! Kings Island is one of my favorite parks. I dont know the exact number but I have probably made 6-7 Trips the last few years and I have never had a bad visit..
okaycoasters that’s great to hear! What’s your home park? Also are you going to try to ride Orion this year if the world ever gets back to normal?
Kings Dominion. Absolutely I had a hotel already booked for this week but yeah had to cancel that. If the parks open back up and things start looking better I can’t wait to come and ride it
okaycoasters nice! Are you on social media or just on here?
6:58 I do feel like that sometimes on vertical lift hills 😂
Mabga yea
Lol I find 45° lifts scarier than Vertical lifts for some reason 🤷♂️
@@wills1437 same i think it's weird tho😂😂
@@wills1437 true, I havnt done vertical lifts yet, but the 45 on griffon is worse than the drop for me
You actually do fall back on Kärnan lol
what the hell. these videos are incredible
Thanks so much !!!!!!!
Accelerator is the only Intamin Accelerator coaster you haven't been on? Great video!
I also live the hydraulic brakes dropping or raising.
New idea, ASMR coaster sounds
I rode l-rod 1st open year yes that launch was insane I also loved that ole big hot-rod front end IMO made it feel complete
Thats awesome! I really liked the original front as well
If you ever come to six flags Mexico please let me know.
Your content is amazing
Thank you so much !!!
Yes, a thousand times yes! I love coasters for reasons most thousies dont. I really dont care all that much for airtime.. pacing is where it is at for me. There is a small laser at vogelrock at the efteling, love that. Also, i love launches more than anything. I’m a sucker for theming too. All the near misses with black mamba is just amazing. And I’m afraid of heights, so that moment when we are about to go over the hill and than the butterflies in my stomach.
I love something weird as well when I'm on a big coaster I love when I hear.... All clear
Yeah thats always a great one!!!
Hi okay coasters, great video! I'm a fan. I have a question, what's your home park?
Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens and Thank You !!!
@@Okaycoasterswe are in the philly suburbs, but those are the two parks my son and i plan to visit in june if things calm down. Already have had tickets and room booked for months.
Quality content as usual 🙃
Thanks !!!
God this is so beautifully edited
Thank you so much for that
This video is sooooooo good
Thank You !!!!
For me it's the sound of the chain dogs slamming down in rapid fire on B&M Hyper Coasters after a camelback hill.
Yes I love that too
This was uploaded on my b'day lol
3:00 third row that guy is out cold
You really would love "der schwur des kärnan "
2019 was my last year of coasters due to health problems but I have ridden 117 of them. My favorite? Top Thrill Dragster! I am now epileptic and and had a heart attack but it breaks my heart to let the coasters go.
So sorry to hear that.....117 is alot of coasters
Yet another great video.
I did notice one small detail. You splashed the word "hydraulics" (oil motion) on the screen when you started talking about pneumatics (air motion).
Haha .....Never thought about that just went for Hydraulics. Thanks!!!
@@Okaycoasters, it happens. If it wasn't for my line of work, I wouldn't have caught it.
100% on fury. Everything from after that first wave turn out to the dive through the hive tunnel is just so fast paced and surreal after that drop
So fast and fun !!!
Flight of Fear is *the best.* I waited in line for 1.5 hours. Worth it 100%.
I like Valravn. It's actually really fun, but the lines are too long for a coaster like it. I waited an hour through pouring rain, wasn't really worth it.
I love Banshee so much. The lines aren't long very often, and if they are, definitely worth it. Also, IMHO Son of Beast should've been a family coaster, smaller than The Beast, but still packing a punch.
I love Maverick. I only rode it once or twice (because I got a VIP pass for one day) but I loved it. I remember that one time the train in front of us rolled back (I think). I'm pretty sure they launched it again. That was also the day they announced Steel Vengeance.
I also like lift hills. I can still remember the rust smell you smell around wooden coasters. I love LIM/LSM launches too. So much fun.
The editing on all of your videos is amazing. Seriously, so good.
Thank you so much !!!
Was there mention of only 3 hydraulic coasters in US. There is 4. Xccelerator, TTD, KindaKa, and Stormrunner.
20 diffrent theme parks? That's like none :D
I like the adrenaline and the theming
Nice!!!
Your videos always have so much passion your love for coasters is so insane it makes my heart melt. I can’t wait for my kids to share these experiences with me as you do with your son. Keep up the good work and the music is always slamming rock on man thank you
Thank You!!!! It really is alot of fun and I appreciate it!!!
