I always knew Hal Jordan as Green Lantern especially because I would watch the cartoons that were produced by Filmation during the 1960s. I really enjoyed the episode of Superman: The Animated Series titled “In Brightest Day…” which introduced Kyle Rayner as a different Green Lantern. The music for that episode is great.

Dude that FF is sick!!! And thanks for the story of how you upgraded to get a book you have always wanted. And price shouldn’t matter as long as you have the funds make it happen. Again some great finds keep up that hunt and great content
I appreciate that you aren't about spending a butt load of money on comics and collectibles, its refreshing to see someone who genuinely likes the hobby and makes you feel comfortable about being part of this community, no matter how much money you have. Great video as always!
Really like your channel since I truly relate! I had tight budget constraints back 40-50 years ago. One of the books I considered a grail back then was FF # 52 ever since I bought a reprint in Marvel's Greatest comics #39. On the last page of the book was the reprinted cover! That was 1972. I set my sights on FF #52 from then on. ( especially when FF was my favorite title) Finally in 1979 after putting together a very incomplete Silver-age FF run, a dealer found me issue #52. Purchased it on the spot, and have it still. I always considered finding it a great personal achievement even back then, before it gained the incredible cultural significance it has today. It is still one of the stand-out comics in my complete Fantastic Four run of #1 through #350. It's hard to top the classic Lee-Kirby books of the 60"s, and FF# 52 in an elite group. You should be very proud!! EXCELSIOR!!!
Hi Mike. I’m one of those pesky colonists living in the U.K. The U.K. edition of Captain Britain #1 is quite common over here on eBay but it’s still a pricey book. In decent grade about £200 upwards and that seems to be without the free mask.🙄 Issue two is a lot cheaper and that’s even with the free boomerang. I’m after that Marvel Team up # 65 but over here it’s very rare a Cent copy comes up for sale. Loads of pence issues which unfortunately reflects on a lot of other 1970’s Marvel comics. Great channel by the way.
Good afternoon Michael Well done, another great show! You deserve your great rise through the youtube ranks. I get a great kick out of the dollar comics you show, and of course a lot from the early 90s are now 30 years old, and they had such great covers. Here in Australia Web of Spider-man and Sleepwalker , Punisher War Journal etc are finding a market. Your Fantastic Four is.. well Fantastic. Thank you so much for not using the words slabs, 9.8 and CGC in your shows. So from a great Lunch Money Comics fan, please don't ever Change. There will be a big show in store when you have the comic to go with each of your cards.
Get that Nightwatch #1 graded fast, yours might be the only 9.8 on the CGC census (worth boasting about to fellow collectors). Taskmaster's tax return would make interesting reading: Name - Tony Masters; Occupation - Supervillain goon trainer. You're right about the cover of Avengers #196, the green just works so well. Love your enthusiasm Mike, love that you have a plan for buying comics and you stick to it, love that you use the trading cards for reference. And congratulations on FF #52, I know the thrill of getting a comic you've been after for ages, I still remember the buzz I felt when I finally secured a copy of Conan The Barbarian #1 years ago.
No one makes me want to spend money on comics more than you. Congratulations on the grail! I’ve been slipping Silver Age books into a folder for Nychon in hopes of filling in some X-Men gaps. Hope to see you at an upcoming show.
Another great video, Mike! As a HUGE black Panther fan and someone who just acquired that book myself, I completely understand how amazing you feel right now. I also traded and sold a bunch of old collectibles I had enjoyed for some time to help me acquire this book as I am in the same boat of not spending a lot of money on comics. Congrats on picking up an amazing book and welcome to the club!
I love sleepwalker, has a cool story to it for a good bit and nearly have a full run. Happy to see it be a part of your collection, hope you enjoy it some day 🤙
As someone who also use to save his lunch money to buy comics, congrats. We like to see all the books you get no matter the cost. I own a FF52 in a 6.5.
Great pick up, you definitely have one of the best channels on UA-cam. Really like when you mention how much you spent when you find a great deal. Keeps me coming back to the channel. We all know what the resale value on these books are, if you find a great deal and are able to make some money on it, good for you. Congrats again!
I decided to upgrade my FF 48, 49 and 52. Right after I sold them, Disney got the rights to the Fantastic Four. Those already pricey books just blew up and needless to say I haven't been able to replace them. Really happy for you being able to add this cool key to the pc.
Congratulations on a wonderful buy with the FF 52! It is a glorious comic! Glow, enjoy, regards! Woah, looking at the number of comments, your getting big.
Great video! Some awesome pickups, especially love the Worlds Finest, Green Lantern, and Superman issue. I got one myself for a couple bucks a little while ago.
Congrats of the grail. I too don't like to spend too much on a single comic either, $55 was the most I spent, and everything I have spent on comics came from selling comics from my childhood.
Congrats!!! That FF52 looks crisp!!! I would trade up smaller keys and cash for a bigger key like that every time! I'm still working on making the hobby pay for itself - the last few bigger books I've picked up, I've paid for with my freelance cash ... still working on it! I'd like to reduce my collection down to mostly big keys, and books I'd never sell, like some of my childhood purchases.
I can’t believe you are showing sleepwalker. I currently saw the book on whatnot. I loved the artwork on cover and purchased. Cool to hear story about it.
Just went to forever antiques in port Huron and I walked away with a few. Sometimes we strike out and sometimes we hit a triple or homerun eh? I still have fun either way 😊
Another great video. I'm a UK viewer and collected everything Captain Britain when it was released (I'm old). Unfortunately, I only have #2, 3, 4 and a couple of later issues left. And they're well read! You can get #1 for £100 but in very low grade and no free gift. 👍🏼
I just got my Green lantern 48 as well... But I also got 49 and 50 as well.... and they're all Newsstand editions... and I got them all for $45 on ebay! What a deal on that one. Nice video! Keep hunting, I love what you find.
I'm in the same boat as you. I often times pass up a good deal because I'm very frugal. I see some UA-camrs spending hundreds or thousands on books, I would die lol. I always worry about things like car repairs and condo repairs.
Great pic up on the Black Panther, would love to get that issue someday. I think the Sleepwalker 1 is my favorite pickup. I have been looking for a cheap copy myself.
Ha! I recently picked up a Giant Size Fantastic Four #4 at my LCS, earlier in the day after i got off work. The owner gave me a great deal of my purchase of $10.00 dollars as i was surprised, like wow! 😳 real cool. The Giant Size Fantastic Four #4 copy, however isn't a clean book and nice as yours for the price you've paid for especially what they're going for also on Ebay, i have personally been eyeing for that comicbook for the last year or so. And now i have it my personal collection. Needless to say also that Multiple Man is my favorite Marvel character of all time since X-Factor #71 in 1991. My copy is a bit dingy where there's a slight split on the square bound front cover when you open the book also some minor stains on the inside of the back cover on the edges and the pages are very cream to off white pages and some small dog ears on a few pages but gotten it a bit straightened as it's been re-bagged and boarded to a newer one. Sort of beat but readable as the pages are complete and both staples are intact with no missing pages as 68 pages are complete in full and no cut out pages and ads which i'm happy about. Although it does have color rub on the cover where the black area of the trade dress and the back cover looks dirty with a little stained which can be cleaned i guess. Never sent out a comicbook before to a professional grading company to get it cleaned and pressed as i'm considering it due to being it's my favorite character of all time and his first appearance. But 'am thinking of course to getting it cleaned and pressed to make it look decent enough and cleaned to have that standard as the comicbook should. I'm not a professional grader but as in looked at it it seems like it might be a 2.5 or 3.0 from my understanding, but not sure honestly. But all i know is that it's in my personal collection yet happy that i have it especially when it's a decent copy I've been eyeing on for the past year now. I'm blessed to have stumbled upon a gem that should have been to consider my personal grail, but isn't. Overall i'm happy. I was planning to travel to Boston this April on the 22nd for a comicbook show 'Wicked Con', but decided not to go as it may be too much of a travel 7 to 8 hours from NYC to Boston and back just on the trains for a comicbook show and to be traveling back to NYC just might be a bit of a hassle, a real reason being that i'd go was because of artist Larry Stroman, who i'd like to have him sign my X-Factor #71. And to meet and greet with him a bit about his works as an artist and also too to meet with Joe Jusko who worked on the '90s Marvel Masterpieces, who will also be at that show this year in April. Checked the Boston comicbook show in August of 2023, learned that Stroman has canceled that show. Nice books and review and congratulations on your personal grail.
@@lunchmoneycomics That's really cool, if i were to go to that show in April, i'd definitely would have liked to have met you and show you my copy of Giant Size Fantastic Four #4 and to get your feed back on the condition the comicbook is in. Joe Jusko to me personally is by far the best yet my favorite Marvel artist as the painter he is to make these Marvel characters come to life.
Congrats on the Fantastic Four 52. I appreciate your honesty and openness on what you paid for it etc. To be honest I'm more a video game collector than a comic collector, but I do the samething when going for those expensive high dollar titles. I either sell, trade from the collection to get those grail items that I want and also just stuff around the house that I no longer need. It is the best way to do it for any hobby really.
Another great vid! I like the fact you tell us the price, it’s interesting to hear. Please don’t apologise about the books you buy, it means a lot to you, so it’s great to see you managed to get it. I’m in the UK by the way and looked on eBay as soon as you mentioned the C.Britain book and it’s not cheap or easy to find. Unfortunately in the UK we don’t have anywhere near as many places to shop for comics, at least where I live, so I can’t really give an opinion on finding it in the wild. 😔 Keep up the good work Mike, loving the channel. 👍
I liked those Marvel cards too. I have almost all of the second series I think missing 2 cards I may hunt for just to complete the set. I have only 3 cards from the first, the holographic Magneto and I think the other was cosmic Spidey, and the regular Magneto card that the holographic card was based on. I know they’re not really worth much money, but they’re pretty cool. I don’t collect comic books or collectibles anymore but I appreciate my collection mostly I want to sell off like my action figures and toys. They just take up too much space. 99% of them are all still in the packaging I kept them as mint as possible all this time. They’ve basically been in big plastic totes.
You got some good grabs in this video. You reminded me of how cool the Spectre was. I got a good deal on some that showed up today along with Hal Jordan as the Spectre. Keep up the great videos.
You can never go wrong on any of the early Fantastic Four issues. So many great first appearances from Marvels first family. When I started collecting back years ago, I started out with Silver Age F.F. books. They are never cheap, so I’m happy I got them back when I did because now they’ve doubled, even tripled in price. I’m really happy for you because there’s something really special about those early issues. Great pick ups! Thanks for sharing.
It's always great to see what you picked up this time. A few of my favorites in this batch. Byrne Team Up with Captain Britain. I remember picking that up shortly after it's release, I lived that original costume and great Byrne art. Perez Avengers with a great new villian, Taskmaster. Another great artist and costume. And the classic first appearance of the Black Panther. Glad they didn't go with the name Coal Tiger like they were planning. Don't think he would have been as popular. Thanks again for the great content.
Mike, why be apprehensive about trading up for what you want? It kind of explains your channel in a nutshell. Buying cheaper comics because of passion and interest is what makes people subscribe I think. Great video and keep up the good finds!
One day I hope to own Showcase #22, as Hal Jordan's green lantern is what got me into comics. I don't really sell books or anything, I could very much so get rid of a lot of my 8,000 books of stuff I don't care about but usually I can recall every story I have of acquiring that book and where.
Mike, these are all fantastic pick-ups! Love that you got a huge grail! It gives me hope in reaching my comic grails as well! Thanks for the encouragement and keep the great content coming!
Thank you so much! And if there is one thing I’ve leaned over this last year is that those wish list comics are more attainable than I thought. Good luck getting yours!
Great video as always, love your enthusiasm it’s great to hear your stories and footage hunting for comics. I’m from the UK and there’s nothing like that where I live so it’s good to live it through you. As for Captain Britain #1 it’s hard to find over here there a low grade copies for around £100 usually without the mask. I’ve been after a high grade copy on eBay for ages but nothing as yet, but that’s the part of hunting for deals is the patience. Keep up the great videos. 👍
Great pick up on the FF52! It’s a solid investment. I was fortunate to have paid $100 for a high grade raw pedigree copy 20 years ago. I’m guessing it’s gotta be north of 9.2. Personally I’m glad you are so open about what you pay for stuff. It makes you much more endearing to the viewer and why I love your channel so much. Keep it going!
You could sell a CGC copy of that back any time, and get your money back. Good video, I have always been shy to spend on books because of my upbringing. I know how you feel.
Can’t go wrong with FF 52 as a grail in your collection. I am also glad that they chose the name Black Panther. Anything else just wouldn’t have fit. I also pick up any time l see them Spawn 9. Especially for all the first appearances. How can you not! I love the cover art for that book and Angela has such potential l think.
Absolutely love your channel! And I think you got a GREAT deal on that Fantastic Four Black Panther!! I have done the same thing several times and traded up to books that I would never have been able to buy without the trade. I would rather have 4 or 5 books that I cherish than a short box full of books that have no real meaning to me, just having them because they were minor Keyes or just were priced really well. Thanks again for your channel!!
enjoy and appreciate your videos. glad i found the channel. congrats on the Black Panther 1st appearance. Lunch Money Comics is right up my alley as i come back to comics. My in-laws are in Westfield MA, looking forward to hit'n up some of the shops/markets you mention. keep up the great content. thanks.
Awesome, there are some great places in that part of the Pioneer Valley, especially in Springfield and Enfield Connecticut. Definitely check them out next time you're around!
Keep continuing to show your amazing pick ups we love seeing them. I also just got a personal grail as well, was able to pick up a 1st Black Cat, just a reader copy but it’s in pretty good condition.
Man don’t stop glowing on that 1st appearance of black panther. You earned it. You got a great deal. It’s a great book. I Enjoy your channel tremendously. Love seeing what you will find next
I once traded some comics for some novels that I really, really, really wanted at the time. I super regret it now, since it would be easier to get the novels now, than the comics, which have really gone up in value. Hindsight is 20/20, as they say.
Great video Bud, I'm with you, I cannot spend over a certain amount of money on a comic book it's just not in my DNA. But all that does is make me creative on where I find all my books for my collection, Like you do
I've Had Been Collecting Darkhawk Since 91, Tried Collecting Everything, Cross Overs Card's, Custom Figure Toy's..Got 1-50 Almost All Signed Mike Manley And 1-50 Unsigned 😂 👍👍👍👍👍

Green lantern 48-50 is one of my all time favorite reads in comics. Hal Jordan vs Sinestro is EPIC!!!

That's the magic.. The irony is, the more money you throw at it, the "cheaper" is begins to feel... Sort of like a Woman! Lol
First T'Challa? Heck yeah! I'd have spent that much as well. Great pulls, Mike!

Actually, taskmaster first appeared in avengers 195. What you got is the first cover appearance.

Glad to see you get a book u've been sweating, that 52 looks like a nice copy man!
Have tons of those black panther 🐆 comics. Thought they was common. The collections i bought was from guy that used to work at marvel.
Great FF 52!! Awesome congrats man!!! Loved my copy too!!

Great episode this week as always.
Wow! Thank you so much!
It’s a great book! Even as a marvel fan I’d LOVE to have that book
Kyle Rayner is the Green Lantern I grew up with!
Congratulations
Great books there bruh. 🤓👊🏿😎
Awesome grail get!! Picking up keys thru the years for this purpose and then it happening is such an amazing feeling!!
Congrats!!
Very honest collector and your channel is always interesting and uplifting buddy
Thank you!
One day u have to show up the comics on the wall
I have the whole set of knight watch
I found an Avengers 196 at a flea market! Got it for 7$ then last night found out that some one had a fun time with a marker on some pages. 😢
Lol! I have the same nightwatch#1 from when I was a kid and bought it for the same reason!
Haha, the foil got you too!
Great pickup! 👍
Nice pickup! Love it! One of our favorite books!
enjoy and appreciate your videos. glad i found the channel. congrats on the Black Panther 1st appearance.
Congrats man! Nothing like the feeling of holding your grail AND THEN KEEPING IT! 😂
I plan to hold onto it for a very long time!
Congrats on the personal grail. That book was the first book I bought graded and it was about the same grade as yours.
Nice! I thought about grading it for about 30 seconds and decided not to. I just love it as is, at least for now.
Love taskmaster
FF 52 is really cool but my favorite is Avengers 196 first appearance of Taskmaster. He’s a favorite villain of mine.
Yeah I think he’s pretty awesome too!
Keep continuing to show your amazing pick ups we love seeing them. I also just got a personal grail as well, was able to pick up a 1st Black Cat, just a reader copy but it’s in pretty good condition.
Ooh, I’d love to own that book someday, congrats!
Man don’t stop glowing on that 1st appearance of black panther. You earned it. You got a great deal. It’s a great book. I Enjoy your channel tremendously. Love seeing what you will find next
Thank you so much!
Congrats on a major key! Closest thing I got to it is a facsimile from the mid-2000.
Your channel is very entertaining to watch 👍🏼
I once traded some comics for some novels that I really, really, really wanted at the time. I super regret it now, since it would be easier to get the novels now, than the comics, which have really gone up in value. Hindsight is 20/20, as they say.
Great video Bud, I'm with you, I cannot spend over a certain amount of money on a comic book it's just not in my DNA. But all that does is make me creative on where I find all my books for my collection, Like you do
I've Had Been Collecting Darkhawk Since 91, Tried Collecting Everything, Cross Overs Card's, Custom Figure Toy's..Got 1-50 Almost All Signed Mike Manley And 1-50 Unsigned 😂

Great video keep up the great work! You deserve it.
