This song doesn't remind me of anyone I loved... Because I never really "loved" someone. And I don't want to. Because throughout the majority of my childhood I watched as my parents' relationship failed miserably. Then my father's fiancée after that fail miserably. And he tried so hard to make both of them work. Dragging it out as long as they can manage. It was torture. He currently is in a much healthier and functional relationship. But I learned my lesson regardless: Everyone is selfish and everyone eventually hurts each other in some way or another. But healthy relationships survive by each person properly addressing every conflict, sincerely apologizing, and agreeing to some reformations if necessary. Patience is key. And no relationship will ever be easy. Because true, perfect love only exists in stories. Real relationships require effort and care. Or else they fall apart. But I don't think I'm able to supply what's necessary for a successful relationship right now, too busy with other aspects of my life. Don't mistake, it's not as if I don't want to socialize. I just want relationships that are easier to maintain. That's what friends are for. And I don't to incidentally make someone miserable because of my lack of consideration. I'm pretty happy with what I have now. A nice family, a good friend. So more intimacy just seems to be unnecessary. Maybe having a romantic partner is really nice, and I'm just underestimating it. But I'd rather experiment with it more when I actually have the time.

This song doesn't remind me of anyone I loved... Because I never really "loved" someone.
And I don't want to. Because throughout the majority of my childhood I watched as my parents' relationship failed miserably. Then my father's fiancée after that fail miserably.
And he tried so hard to make both of them work. Dragging it out as long as they can manage. It was torture.
He currently is in a much healthier and functional relationship. But I learned my lesson regardless:
Everyone is selfish and everyone eventually hurts each other in some way or another. But healthy relationships survive by each person properly addressing every conflict, sincerely apologizing, and agreeing to some reformations if necessary. Patience is key. And no relationship will ever be easy. Because true, perfect love only exists in stories. Real relationships require effort and care. Or else they fall apart.
But I don't think I'm able to supply what's necessary for a successful relationship right now, too busy with other aspects of my life.
Don't mistake, it's not as if I don't want to socialize. I just want relationships that are easier to maintain. That's what friends are for.
And I don't to incidentally make someone miserable because of my lack of consideration.
I'm pretty happy with what I have now. A nice family, a good friend. So more intimacy just seems to be unnecessary.
Maybe having a romantic partner is really nice, and I'm just underestimating it.
But I'd rather experiment with it more when I actually have the time.
