One of the funniest moments in the entire series of the show.😂 Also, great editing of this situation. It balanced out the seriousness of what they were attempting to do, adding a humorous bit from the problem solving conversation they had in the wheelhouse.
Yea that was stupid. I use to work a job where I pulled liner out of pipe and the way it worked was you put the pipe in the vice camp it down then send the cutting tool through the pipe out the other end I guy on the other end of the pip would hold the cutting blade in place then using remote you start the wrench the metal line would start to spool up and pull the cutting tool through the pipe once it hit the other end it grab the liner and pull it out of the pipe. Sometimes the liner would be beat to s**t it happens when it’s drilled into the ground. The winch line would then get very tight and sometimes that cutting tool would fly out of that pipe. We would always yell at the new guys to get the f**k out of the way many times guys would stand right beside the line. I once told a new guy and said why do you think that winch room has a gage around it step back.
Sig needed Edgar. He knows what Sig wants and means before he says it, that's how close they were. Sig was stronger with him. They were a dynamic duo, unstoppable when on same page
that is a good idea to put buoys on the anchor line this way if it does snap they will float to the top. I guess it was to rough to make it in the harbor
I feel like maybe the entire decision was scripted. Hey, let's anchor out here in big swells and high winds and see what breaks? Makes for some good drama. lolz
The title, narration and the little animation might as well be describing a different video / not representative of what actually happened at all. I wonder if people who are on these shows ever get annoyed watching it later - or they just figure: Oh well... 90% of the audience won't notice.
Man, I was thinking the same thing. Those guys have so many years of experience, and have seen just about everything, but it seems like the Bering Sea can come up with some unheard of crap, just when you thought you'd seen it all. I respect those guys so much, and its a shame we won't be seeing Edgar anymore. He is one seasoned veteran, that's for damn sure.
@@rare_name420 Now with Edgar, it was a fully clothed scenario. Still wrong, but not nearly as disturbing or disgusting or disappointing as what Josh Harris did when he was 16 in 1998.
Actually it's a common thing to put bags on the anchor line just in case something like this does actually happen. And most sailors only drop anchor when close to shore. Never out at sea. The bags are for when you do happen the lose your anchor close to shore, you can attempt to retrieve it.
the stupidiest thing you could do during high swell is to drop an anchor. to enter that harbour he could turn his boat against waves and enter to the harbour at 45-60 deg angle against the waves.
I have never seen anyone put buoys on there anchor line. And he was backing down on it when it broke. More than likely he knew he had a bad spot so he said let me see if I can pop it that'll make good tv. If I was him Id tell em if I pop that cable for the show will y'all buy me a new one
Obviously not a mariner. Anchoring in a big swell isnt stupid, just uncomfortable. I would go to the lee of the island or remain a sea. As for saying enter at 45-60 deg to the swell - now that IS really stupid. Waves and swell are not moving bodies of water, you dont alter your course. The swell will make the vessel heel and the heeling induces a turn. The vessel will turn away from the heel and toward the swell, cross the swell-line and do the opposite ie in a corkscrewing motion.

You do realize Edgar is still on the boat right? He is just off the camera. Discovery also slipped up once.
This is where experience MATTERS
I love me some SIG and CREW!
There's not many job I see that I think I couldn't do. I definitely could not do this. So dangerous and brutal shifts/conditions.

The crews silence was hilarious, they really don’t want to do that ;)

The crew response, let me explain, that was a TV-scripted moment, they all knew what he was saying and they are all seasoned veterans.
I mean what ever could be the purpose of trying a buoy to the anker in the first place😂
I feel like maybe the entire decision was scripted. Hey, let's anchor out here in big swells and high winds and see what breaks? Makes for some good drama. lolz
this was a few years back as he has Edgar on board.
He's still on board. Just not featured on the show. Sometimes you can spot him in the background.
The way sig explained what he wanted and everyone looks at him like braindead morons 😂😂
Now that’s fishing 👍🏻

I think this is an old clip, it has to be, because it has Edgar in it, and they won't film him anymore.
@Victor Lassiter just getting back into the show. Curious if you could tell me why they won't film Edgar

Why would they have floats on the anchor cable already?? Seems suspect. Unless they saw the cable fraying and just let it go for TV.
Right. Off TV screen real world the parted cable, chain and anchor will be at the bottom of the ocean.
