I had an old, crappy Craftsman chainsaw that was not up to the task of felling a couple of trees at my new house in, I think, 2011. I went to the Husqvarna dealer 3/4s of a mile from said house with like $400 in hand and they had a 460 Rancher (effectively the same saw) with a 24" bar that I left with in a bright orange case. Other than the usual maintenance and picking up an 18" bar I have used it a few times a year and felled and bucked two bradford pear trees with it last season. I hadn't used it in a while so I dropped it off at the place I bought it 10 years prior and they changed out the fuel line but otherwise determined the saw was in great shape. I just used it with the 18" bar to clean up storm damage downed limbs for my neighbor and was just blown away at how this thing always starts and is just super easy to maintain. Keep your chains sharp and air filter clean and this thing will last for ages. The only other thing I have done to it is replace the chain oil pickup and seal those lines and gaskets with Loctite which has eliminated the snail trail.

455 is a good saw all around. I had mines since 2000. Still starts. Runs and cuts perfect. I have cuts tons, tons of wood. Proven reliable

Hey, between this and the Stihl 261C I believe is the model number. Would you recommend one over the other for a firs time owner of a gas powered saw. I have a property with a lot of trees that’s dead and dying as the previous owners didn’t care too much so I need to take care of this for safety reasons. I own and Ego 18” but it’s just not doing it for me. Thanks! Also, do you ship products?
