I'd try the eel before eating a sea cucumber . Great video, thanks.
Americans do eat turkey tail especially southern cooking
Yummy
One of my favorite 😍 I haven't had it for years, left Samoa at a young age. But I would love to have some lol. I wonder if I can find it in LA.
Malo lelei all the way from San Jose, California. Love your channel, I am Tongan and your videos are the closest to watching traditional food from Tonga.
I do have a suggestion, when you say you can see a previous video, then point here and there is no video there.....
But still watch because love love you and your family.
Weird. It shows up when i watch it. I’ll ask some friends to see if they see it. Sorry about that!

Thank you appreciate it, Malo ofa atu
Try eating the sea(aka seaslug guts)
Yummy ulu!😋I love ulu😍nice one joe! I see you getting your taste bug on with various samoa food!😁well done!!! You're a real samoa boy now!😄
i grew up in Samoa for 15yearss... now in aussie for over 15years... I love my island food but something about faiai pusi that i was never a big fan of... My grandparents loves it.. too many bones (ivi), which stop me from enjoying eating the thingy.. and also everytime im about to eat faiai pusi, the thingy looks like a snake.... which weirds me out..... but i guess many eldest still love it till now...
Bonne appetit hihi you should try the fa'ausi one of my favourite my grandma used to made fa'ausi esi is the best and pineapple pie.just saw your video and press like. Shoutout out to my village vailima and manase. Enjoy you meal.all the way from France manuia le Aso.
Faausi is awesome! But i like it w kalo not esi. Thanks for checking out the channel and leaving some comments! Always helps!
coconut cream thinned with water, add onion, optional lemon juice, eat with umu is called 'miti'. 'pe'epe'e is not as thinned out as miti, and thats what is used for fa'alifu, "fai'ai is straight coconut cream used to make all the food where its needed to be thicker, so its more or less 3 words descibing the various thickness of coconut cream, i love fai'ai pusi but the bones are hard to handle, the skin is my favorite, better to eat with fingers so you can feel bones
Wow that's a good explanation. I'll have to try and remember all that. Thanks Ann.
Yummy Yummy palusani and ulu.:)
Haven’t been on the spot in awhile Joe. Drink in a mason jar...old school. It’s gonna take some getting-used-to for the fai’aipusi. Bony as heck so careful Joe. Better stay with the fai’aife’e. As for the lu’au turkey tail, that’s a trip to the cardiologist...
Fai’ai is when meat is baked in just Pe’epe’e and seasoning, except palusami/lu’au. Keep them videos coming Joe. ✌️👍🇺🇸
Just cracking up at the people below saying it’s yuck and disgusting ,but if they were in Samoa with the not so rich people trying to make a living they will not be complaining, never forget where you come from and the struggle and sacrifice your family had and those who still is now ✊🏾I remember back in the islands eating just taro or cassava with no meat many times cause we couldn’t afford it,now living in Europe i still appreciate the island life and the people who lives there who struggles ,having these kind of food is always the best ,,humble beginnings💯respect to you uso 🙏🏽
Lua is a Tongan food it’s not the leaves it’s the puvi u must Saka it first to be soft
...frikkk...😂🤦♂️ I say that too....😂 ...but, back to the video... I'm a Maori, from NZ... we LOOOOVE eel... and if you mix it with coconut cream... that sounds DELICIOUS 🤤💜 MALO LAVA USÒ...💜💙💜 Hopefully I can convince my Samoan friends to make me some...💙
😂😂😂😂😂
We live vicariously through your trips and always get hungry watching all the good food. I'd like to make a suggestion, could you maybe consider trying makamalu, loli, and seasea please? Thanks...asking for a friend.
Lovin the sounds of the birds
Yum yum faiai pusi i haven't have faiai pusi for over fifty years alofa atu
Woah!! Been too long. Time to come back to visit Samoa!’
Hey Jamily tv any vidz of sashimi or do you have the recipe the way they make it in Samoa (spicy soy sauce one)
Thank you for sharing your food adventure.
I like the taste of eel but theres too many bones so i dont eat it if only theres no bones
Couldn’t agree w you more!
Bro Faiai pusi is nice. Japanese eat it.....there is a lot of it here in Sydney. Its just coconut and eel.
Lol
Fai ai pusi is the Best But you need to come to Newcastle Australia to have the best one mate our eels here are loyal and good ✊🏾❤️
IT'S LIKE CATFISH WITH COCONUT MIL. 🤣😂
Thank you for sharing x
I don't think I've ate eel & I don't to plan too lol...too much bones...I get excited when I eat poly food I might choke on it🤣
Looks like a small anaconda wrapped taro leaves! Hahaha. *kidding* lol
Faiai Pusi is better eaten straight from the umu.
Blessings to you & family Uso.
Wrapped in**
Definitely thought that’s what it was, lol!! You can tell by my face that i was really surprised, 😂😂
Higher language is oko ma le sau but keep it up uso
Love the food reviews. Keep it going Uce
Thanks Stacks! 🤙
Luau n ulu is the best combination..yummy in the tummy. One love n stay bless uso. Alofa atu.
Me and luau are the best combination? You couldn’t be more right!! Haha! Jk!! You’re right. Luau and ulu are THE BEST!! ❤️❤️
@@JAMilyTV lol autocorrect...dang it lol I mean ulu lol
Hey can you do a samoan breakfast mukbang? So curious to see what they have there.
Bula Family..
Love from Fiji 🇫🇯
Bula!! More and more Fijians are making their way to Samoan shores! 🤙
Malo lava from Western Springs, Aukilani. It was great meeting you last month, daughter and I were very excited😃 That was scarey for me to even watch so you're a very brave man Joe🤣 I don't think that'll be on my to eat list when we come in July. Thanks for the vids, keep em coming, they've helped us reconnect and have a new found appreciation for the motherland. Faafetai lava ma ia manuia😃
you're funny man joe..love watching your video mate..
Morning family. You make me so hungry so early in the morning lol
Kaffy Timoteo you look fine 🥰
USO you had me stitches with your reaction to the faiai pusi. Not my favorite either. I told my wife about you eating the faiai pusi and she said WHAT? She thought you were chowing down a cat. LOL. No worries I got her straight. There are various ways Samoans cook faiai. We can cook it in a coconut cup, in a laufai, in a can, in a pot etc..., as long as there is coconut cream mixed with the meat. The faiai itself is just a straight cooked coconut cream in a coconut cup in a umu. Faiai means brain. So think of a coconut milk gels like a brain when it’s cooked...I know not a pleasant image. Malo ma ia manuia.
Great video, Joe. My husband & I were dying at your reactions of trying fai’ai pusi.
I loooove luau & ulu my go to food every Sunday lunch 💕
The two form of Samoan language is
1. Formal
2. Informal / everyday language
Fa’aaloalo is respect which is formal
Fai’ai Pusi is one of the best fai’ai you’ll ever have, it’s even better when it’s fresh from the umu
Haven’t been feeling too well for the past few days and what better way to feel better than to binge watch pretty much almost all your vlogs...BIGGEST #BeautifulAmmo #NoliCutieBear #FAN!! Looking forward to more of your awesome vlogs! Malo lava #JamilyTelevise ❤️💙 🇼🇸 🌴 🥥
This channel's too good. Shows everything about Samoa. Fa'aaloalo is the respected way of the Samoan language.
Good one Joe fa'a aloalo means Respect
So i was right then?? Or is there a better word for the high language?
@@JAMilyTV Yes ur right fa'a aloalo means Respect but I'm as clueless as u wen it comes down to high language u need to ask some one born and raised there that knows how to translate that lol I'm from the US just like u lol
Oh my word...looks pretty dang good👍👍
Joe it's delicious maybe
plenty bones but our people ( islanders) loved it.
Your reactions are super funny. Got me laughing. I wouldn’t eat it though. Great video. Always watching.
Thanks Teloma!! Glad you’re enjoying the channel!
Haha there's even a few Samoans that won't even eat it!! Lmao
Yummy same in tonga nice straight from the umu we cooked fish tuna with coconut cream but I prefer on coconut shell charcoal tunu ngeesi niu nice food bro! 😋👍 from tonga!
Your reaction to the faiai pusi brought back memories for me ... I served my mission in the BEST mission ever - Apia Samoa 😁 ! Anyways, my 1st area & very first fafaga ( which was breakfast), we were served faiai pusi & faalifu talo! I was so appreciative for the meal, but the prostleying in the heat and walking up the hill ( we lived in Safaatoa & our fafaga was in Lefaga) was so not the business!! It is an "acquired" taste - which I have not acquired 😃, but I do love me some breadfruit !!!
Thanks for the video & channel !!
Was watching a video from Samoa and the family (actually it was mine) had built part of their house over a loved one's grave. So their house's roof went over the grave and it had become part of the patio. In the traditional Samoan culture, where you live, the people live very close to their dead, and they live very close to their animals (and plants) also that they kill for their food, so basically, death is always close to them (unlike us here in the West). The Samoan culture is a Neolithic (i.e. early agricultural) one, and like all Neolithic cultures its founding myth is of the god who sacrifices his life to a goddess whom he loves, only to be reborn again and saving her people in the process. Samoa's version of this worldwide myth (which is found amongst the peoples along the earth's equator, where the sacrificial god is usually in the form of a Snake) is the story of Sina and her lover Tuna, the Eel. You probably know this eerie pagan Samoan myth, and it probably predates the patriarchal Tagaloalagi as creator myth of Samoa, I believe. So the Eel is still a very sacred animal to the Samoans, I heard somewhere said. (Don't mind me, I'm just a Western raised Samoan Nerd thinking aloud.)
Hi Joe! Hope all is well on the island! I fee the same way about those nasty flys🤬. I have to eat my Palusami with Talo. And I agree my aunty makes the best palusami too! I also like mines just coconut juice/sua salt and onions. I don’t like anything kind of meat in my palusami. Thanks for sharing Joe and Enjoy!!
Hi Joe, when you had put the fork up close to the camera to show the eel... I wanted to eat it. I dislike all the bones but it reminds me of NZ flounder, but a little more tender meat than the flounder. I enjoy eel.
I cracked up when you mentioned the trembling of your voice.. 🤣 E ke fefe fua ha ha
But that’s how I feel about Mulipipi 😰
Good go Joe.. oi that rhymes 😄
Thank You Joe.. Alofa atu to your beautiful family ♥️♥️
The meat was awesome!! But too bony and the skin was too slimy for me. Haha! I do enjoy flounder and you’re probably right!! Probably is a lot like that!
Hi uce that's one of the Samoan delicacies and I miss that and haven't had one for ages.......thanks for the vedeo
If it was skinned you wouldn’t be so hesitant.. 🤣... Lots of people don’t kind to skin it cause it takes time & Some say it’s the flavor. It’s good either way... just to many bones!! 🤦🏻♀️
I couldn’t stop laughing at how nervous you were to eat it😂😂😂
I think we need to do a mukbang with this Aunty of yours. Lol
You didn’t know what you where missing joe..that’s some good stuff bro. Eat the skin too Joe..
Ooooh Idk bout this 1 uce. Props 4 trying it 4 us LOL
Haha! Thanks Josin! I’ll give it a better shot next time.
U the champ for trying the faiai pusi. I grew up in Samoa and never try it. I HATE eels and snakes !!!!!
oh gosh... the eel part was so intense to watch! ahahah you are Brave man! I could never get close to that thing. On the other side..Fiala'a would have prob finished that in 5 min, but he doesn't count as he is full Samoan. 😬
Hey Joe, How are you and the family? Ive been missing your videos I'm sorry, I haven't been as active on youtube as I used to be. Thats some delicious looking food right there, but your reaction to tha one dish you have never tried had me dying LOL!
Mukbang yasssssss 😁 not a eel fan but loooook delicious 😂 what’s good #JAMilyAiga 🥰
Malo Joe...Thanks for reminding me why do not like faiai pusi...hehe! Always Love watching your videos. Keep up the awesome work. Alofas'
I love bread fruit with luau...Yumm!!!
You have officially become a real island guy 👌😂 You did it 💯🙌
😂😂😂😂 OMG reaction was soooo funi
Your reaction is PRICELESS bro! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 omg we've never had faiai pusi too so we'd feel the same hahahahahahah
7:34🤣aaawww mah goodness Joe, can’t stop laughing!!! I’ve had it once but it was smoked, wasn’t too bad but first and last for me😬 Well done to you💯
Faiai pusi is yummy. Gazillion bones but tastes like fish but sweeter. Enjoy it Joe, don't be scared now lol
You’re right. It’s delicious. I think eating the skin messed w me too much. The meat is great! But dealing w that many bones was just too much for me. Gave the rest to a very thankful friend, haha!
hahahahaha funniest one yet ..... Eat it Eat it!!! lmao Malo Joe!
That's why i never eat faiai pusi. Too many bones
Joe vs Snake LOL 😭🤣 i mean Fai'ai pusi 😂🤣😂🤦♀️🤦♀️
Felt like a snake. Ocean snake, lol!
Seki video homie
Thanks Moana!
Your reaction to the fai’ai pusi🤣🤣
Had me in tears🤣🤣
Haha! True reactions too. I was freaked out. Kind of embarrassed by that, lol!
Eeuwww. But my partner would love that!! 😔
I actually can't believe Joe has finally met his match!! Lmao. I'm so used to Joe just eating anything! Even off the ground.
I could not even eat something with lots of bones....I can't enjoy my food if I have to be trying to "au" the bones. Just puts me off.
@@JAMilyTV it's ok. You gave it a go still...considering. I wouldn't have. 😣
This is a Samoan food video and you’re all acting like white people.....and Joe is acting like a white boy doing a Samoan food show. You’re all fake Samoans.....
Samoa has 2 language,,
1) Common language used daily
2) Language of Chiefs (Respectful way)
deerasta44 and there’s the Mala language...yuck
The Seer 😂😂😂😂
2 more months then I’ll be in Sa 🙌🏿, Uluau pipi here I come 🥰
Yeah uso upu faaaloalo for luau is palusami and for ulu is maualuga, but that faiai pusi 🤢🤢🤢
Here in my city (cen. Cali) we would die for some Samoan food. Heck! We have to travel up north or down south just to get some kalo 😂 idk about that pusi tho.. not my style 🤣
Another banger🔥🔥 I’m not a big fan of the faiai pusi haha. More power to u for even trying og✊🏼🤣 I would’ve just offered it to a neighbor
Thanks 100! I ended up giving the rest of it to a friend. Haha
Luau & talo or ulu, yum!!
Fa'ai pusi, you crack me up man!
Maybe try it again oven baked without the leaves, my folks cook it beautifully. And I only go for the white flesh, never eat the skin 😂
Malo broseph! 🤟😉
gagana fa'aaloalo is formal language, gagana fai so'o is everyday language, you use fa'aaloalo to show respect in village councils, to matai's, and those with high positions, one difference is the pronounciation of T, formal is "T", informal if "k"
FINALLY!! Thank you for this! ❤️
Very interesting explanation.I know about the two languages and I always knew that the T and K are interchangeable -but not that it's the royal reason behind it.
I always thought (as a non samoan) that in Samaon using the K sounds "harsher".
Grrrooossss!! 🤮🤮🤮
I’m sorry, I’ll pass on that faiai..just stick to the luau..gross me out. Never had that before🤑
Oh, c’mon😂😂😂 i grew up in the island my whole life, I never like that stuff🤷♂️😂😂😂
Pule Togaga'e you only hate it cos too many ivis lol
Emelie Love yes exactly lol
Best mukbang so far Jo hahahahah never had faiai pusi it's the most scariest food in samoa 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 no amount of coconut cream can make that pisi face go unnoticed hehhehe. You done well 😊. Always a big fan of Jamily tv😊
One thing I cant eat is faiai pusi, i hate it lol
That’s exactly what i would say ‘faaaloalo’
Hahahaaaaa " oh yeah it's easy its my favourite " lol malo lava uso.
Morning from perth joe and fam!! Another ☝️ lol luao and ulu are my sons fave ulu not so much for me i prefer fa’i and kalo umm and 🥴🤢 you are the epic legend joe🙌🏾🙌🏾 cos there is no way i would EVVVVEERR eat that your reaction is a thousand words 👀😷😳😂😂👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾il just stick to smoked eel tai lava 🤤😂
Luau is always magical to me. I never get tired of it. Faalifu fai is always too dry for me. I think that’s why I’ve switched over to ulu as my favorite now.
Turkey tail is gross man. So not healthy.
Yummy faiai pusi
I’m Samoan any my brothers name is faiaimusepulea so he’s a half coconut ?
Haha!
Hahaha. That's cute. Though I do wonder what his name means
As a lot of Samoan names when translated into English can be "interesting 😁
awoish i'm drooling here mate; big time; I so want to devour that fai'ai pusi; yummy yummy; malo Jamily TV; alofas
You love faiai pusi?? Someone else said they loved smoked pusi. Gonna have to try that one sometime.
Hahahaha!😂😂😂😂😂 Eat it man! It is delicious like chicken loft meat. I haven't eat them since 30+ years.
Faiai Pusi, that the one thing I avoided even to now
Lol I wasn't expecting that to come from the big asss foil😳😳 Faiai pusi 😳😳😂 those #LeMasagiOnes
My earlier comment was talking about the first part of this episode😂😂😂😂dude you gotta eat it
Haha! So you’re not a fan of pusi?
People eat it with bones, then they start “auing” the bones out.
Au means your eating but your tongue is feeling for bones and spitting them out
