For anyone who can't understand the song...
Pharrell is declaring that although there are many popular sexy women of the past (like Marilyn Monroe) who have set a standard of beauty in their respective era's...he wants a different girl. He wants what might not be the typical beauty "GIRL" on a magazine but is way better and more appealing/sexy to him. It's awesome.
I'm not seeing much of the different kinds of beauty in this video at all. Last time I checked women aren't like different friggen brands that you can pick and chose from. It's not like 'magazine girls' exist anyway but all the pretty girls are lined up, I think the message would make itself clearer if there no male gaze either, geez.
The video kinda fails of potraying that.

This album is criminally underrated. One of the best albums of the 10s.
Definitely underrated. Pharrell was actually the artist who motivated me to be a feminist-like guy to express how girls and women are important and they're very unique with this song and the album which I worked myself so long to be even within music. It's the right side for me as it is for him. Even Zara Larsson, Kesha, Beyoncé and Little Mix motivated me for it.

I don't think Pharrell was trying to objectify women, I think he was trying to express how men get hated on for liking certain physic features on women. The problem comes when the standard is set too high and men think that they need a women with big boobs and that is all that they should look for in a women. I could be wrong but what I derived from the song is that no matter how idolised, or perhaps perfect a particular girl may be considered, if he (Pharrell) was to be with any of them he'd still want a different girl.
Society's definition of beauty is white skin, blue eyes, a slim straight nose, and blonde hair. The video has far more examples of what differs from that. It IS in fact a good example what what the ideal should be: all colors of skin, hair, eyes, and a variety of different shapes of facial features.
