I received these exact two hexagrams yesterday in asking for guidance in how to prepare for pregnancy. What I have understood in my work and understanding of the I Ching is that the most relevant guidance is the inner workings and the necessary evolution that can only take place within you first that will then inevitably shift your environment. I understand that the external world plays its role but I will focus mainly on the inner workings. What I have understood about Hex 59 is that there is a necessary 'dispersion' of certain aspects of oneself in the form of thoughts, feelings, or behaviours that may be of hindrance to the desired outcome. It states clearly that gentleness will help in this dissolution of our rigid ways and that we should seek the a higher good and intuition that goes beyond our own selfish desires that keep up going around the same roundabout. I don't know if this resonate with you but the way that it spoke to me I understand that there are aspects that need dissolving before the gathering together of what is necessary for the desired outcome or for the higher power's will. As these aspects break up the task or re-uniting presents itself. in regards to Hex 20, Contemplation, suggests one looking at the bigger picture. Seeing from heights higher than our ego as symbolised by the tower. The power is established by the ruler in alignment with heaven with a clear view of the people bellow (the people bellow representing the parts of our personality or our lower self) (this symbolises that there is a system or a structure in place where one allows themselves to be governed by their superior self or their higher self in accordance with the divine) The judgement says: 'The ablution has been made but not yet the offering' - ablution is the cleansing, the washing of the body. This suggests some form of repentance (the acknowledgment of shortcomings and the willingness to change and to make a change of mind). The time, between the ablution and the sacrifice in the calling to the higher power in sincere search for the truth is this real seeking with deep inner concentration of the person at hand. There are immovable laws in the universe and much of our suffering or confusion comes as a result on firstly not knowing these laws and secondly not having them at the back of ones mind in ones existence. One thing we are good at is forgetting.This deep concentration in contemplation to understand the laws, develops strength and the will power of the individual in their strengthening of the connection with their higher power. This is the only true power, that of the ego is futile and fragile. 1. You know the laws and therefore you are incorruptible. 2. Your mere vibration from being in connection with the higher power will inevitably change the circumstances of both your internal and external world. Both Hexagrams reference the Kings of old. In hex 59 - 'The kings of old sacrifice to the Lord' and in hex 20 - 'the kings of old visited the regions of the world and gave them instruction' - This to me signifies that a sacrifice on the part of the ego, the personality must be made to establish a firm contact with the higher self which will then after much prayer, meditation, contemplation be in the position it is meant to be in, on the top of the tower governing the people, who by his mere existence are swayed by him profoundly. Like the grass bows to the wind. We must align with the divine, to truly walk the path. I hope this provided some additional thought to your question. I am still working on a strategy to implement into my life so that one day I may be worthy to carry and raise a child in the way that the heavens would rejoice. God bless.
