Just want to add that some of Tarentinos writting holds up decades later comedy wise. i.e. Jewls and Vincent Vega or Mr Pink and Joe Cabot. Classic lines. I'd definitely give Tarentino props for comedic scenes.
I would argue Tarantino's first two films shifted culture far more than anything the Coen bro's have ever done. His movies have crazy influence over the general public. The same can't really be said of the Coen's despite their technical mastery.
Pulp Fiction and Dogs definitely impacted the culture and the industry in a major way in the 90s and made independent film viable (and spawned a lot of terrible emulators). That said, I think the Coens have aged better as filmmakers, tend to use better actors, and can write clever dialogue without waffling and jerking themselves off too much. God, I could barely get through The Hateful 8. I liked Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, but I don't think it comes close to a Coen Bros comedy.
Pulp Fiction and Fargo are in my top 10. Tarantino really doesn't have a miss except OUATIH which just didn't work despite containing some of my favorite actors. I love the Coens but idk what Raanan’s talking about saying they’re experimenting and making “new kinds of films.” Especially when he said Hollywood would read Fargo and not like it because it’s a mix of comedy and dark stuff. There were hundreds of dark comedies before Fargo.
