Just picked up my first bottle of Old Grand dad and I really like it.Good flavor.Much better than I thought it would be. Im not a whiskey snob,I buy what I can afford. This is affordable and good and will be keeping a bottle in stock from now on.
I think the 114 is better, but I would say do bonded then 114 the following week. It would make a good progression of really high value and available bourbon. Also fun fact: James Bond called for Old Grandad Bourbon in the books.
Love the 80 proof Old Granddad for what it is. I always have a bottle on hand as a mixer of for friends who are not whiskey geeks but will have a pour with me.
I’m an OG Bonded man personally, 114 isn’t bad, but I stock bonded. It’s like a Glock, no frills or gimmicks just reliable, affordable, and it has enough of a kick to give me a good buzz after a few glasses
I have 2 each half gallon Old Grand-Dad still unopen still sealed with c.1977 red tax stamp strip that euns over the top of the lid and down the side of the bottle. From what I understand, the half gallons were for bars only. I bought into a huge lot of 1950's - 1960s Schenley and 1960s - 1970s era bourbons that are mostly Buffalo Trace.
I haven't been able to find the 114 in my area in a while. I do have a bottle of the bonded on my shelf...just recently read the label and discovered it was "high rye".
Enjoyed video,as always. Cool you are doing regular stuff not just basement bourbons. Never had Old Grand-Dad before and probably never will although I have served gallons of it back when I bartended my way through college decades ago. I would choose the 114 next as that seems like a good proof mixer and seems to be very popular
I believe the 86 proof was an additional offering in the lineup alongside the 80, 100 and 114 proof bottles, but that was eliminated. Kind of like Very Old Barton had the 80, 86, 90 and 100 proof offerings at one point.
Good stuff. I'd suggest people buy the bonded, but whether you stock it is a matter of taste. At $25 you're spoilt for choice with a lot of solid options.
I’m gunna go BiB. I like both the 114 and the BiB.114 is better I believe that extra proof helps. But I really like the BiB. Side note-Never had the 80 cause it’s not even sold anywhere around here.
Whiskies like OGD are often overlooked, under-appreciated, or flat out disregarded because they are inexpensive and admittedly not the most interesting drinks one can have. OGD - like EW BiB, Early Time BiB, etc - honestly punch well above their price point and are just good. Not great. Good.
Bottled in Bond or 114?
114
@@phraktl both
@@gerhardschote8000 no argument here. Given one or the other? 114 all day.
I like the bonded - have not tried 114, would like to hear what you think of 114
Bonded

Eggs and bacon is one of the healthiest breakfasts one can have.
Exactly

I like the bonded and I think you should go in order just for the heck of it. Cheers Bill!😁
Cool! What do I win?🤗

I enjoyed the BIB Old Grandad and will pick another bottle of it soon.
Thanks for the info I am going to give it a try.
Bottle picture should be called Buddy Basil 😂

Johnny Walker Red! Oh the things you do for your subscribers ❤️
That swig was rough
for a few dollars more get the BiB - in fact, that's probably my next "well/cocktail" bottle purchase
Love the bonded and 114
Thank you Bill. Nice intro, I wish you will do it more often, like it was a few years back in your channel. Cheers

I think I had OGD original back in high school. That would be over 25 years ago! My vote for OGD: 1: OGD BIB. 2: OGD 114
114
I appreciate your channel as someone who is trying to refine nose and palate
Thats great! I'm glad you are working on it. What is your current favorite?
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary Of those 2, 114. Overall, loving Sagamore Double Oak.
I prefer the sample of the 114 that was sent to me. However, up here I can only buy the Bonded. I enjoy it! Certainly on the basic eggs and milk list!

Great bang for buck bourbon
Great video Bill-I’d like the 114 review to be honest-Thanks Bill 🥃
Coming soon!
BIB and then do the 114... then do a blind taste test.... like an OGD 'miniseries
100% agree
OGD 114 is by far the best in their lineup .
Love the 114, but I’ve been looking in Massachusetts for the last year and a half and have not seen one, including places I used to buy them at!!
I believe they have it in Natick Total Wine
Never had it!!! But I have the BIB and the 114 and love them
Power to the people ✊
I’d say do Bonded because that’s what’s available to me in my area 😅
Review the BiB, and if you're feeling saucy, follow that up with a review of the 114.
My "stock it" vote was for the bottled in bond. I would never purchase a bourbon at 80 proof.
Bonded for sure.
The bottled in bond followed the next week by the 114.

Totally agree
EXACTLY 👍😋🥃💯😉
I have had Bonded, and 114
Ooo man you are hero you tasted johnnie red😅 !!
I do it for all of you

New to channel. Bottle & bond. Thx
Welcome!
114 for sure!
Bill do the OGD 114.
I have never tried it yet.
Bonded then the 114
Why in gods name are you doing the 80 proof my man? Bonded and 114 is where the magic starts
I ended up doing the 114, but yea. Hard to find the Bonded here
Instead of only doing 1, do a comparison
