When I was in massage school, we did a school-wide experiment similar to this with rice. Two containers containing uncooked rice were placed in the common area of the school. Instructions nearby said to hold each container for about 20 seconds. In one container, students were to think positive thoughts. In the second, students were instructed to think negative thoughts. the results after 1 month were astounding. The rice that received positive thoughts became fluffy and bright. The rice that received the negative thoughts turned brown and looked disgusting. To be honest, the dark rice looked like a scene from a horror movie. The intentions we hold are so very powerful.

I believe it all because how doctors can prove our healing results to positive outlook. I have been healed three times, so no one can tell me that the mind has no effect on a situation or matter.
Those who don't believe are missing out on what they can do through their mind alone.
Until you have faith for something and it comes to pass, you will not know that power of your thoughts.
All things are possible to those who believe!

If you don't believe negative thoughts can degrade ourselves faster, just look at the addict. The only positive thoughts the addict has are simply obtaining substance. Other than that, they really don't have a lot to be positive about. Hence, they degrade faster. Just as this has been demonstrated many times in the Rice Experiment, our consciousness definitely matters. But, moreso, our intent. Conscious intent knows no language. Its about the intangible. The projection of energy from you

Well, these experiments, from what I've heard, seemed to be pretty scientific. Control groups, well-documented observations. All that really needs to happen is to repeat the tests several times, and take some statistics. This is actually really cool, I hope someone does do more with it.

It's so easy to angry at all the negative, ignorant comments but I guess that's the whole point. The whole point of this is not about pharmaceutical companies or underfunded science, it's about truth. It's certainly not some new age thing either. Science is involved here, more specifically Quantum Physics. It's scary to think that our minds are as powerful as they are. It's a lot of responsibility but the truth of the matter is we create the lives we're living nobody else is doing that for us.

@martialalex thanks for your comment. I respect your personal feelings and belief systems although I feel you haven't done a lot of research, reading or personal inquiring into this. Dr. Emato's studies and life work shows us how our feelings, emotions and words impact water. We are made up of mostly water and so is the earth. So of course feelings, emotions and words will impact our bodies, minds, the earth, etc. as well. You have to go with what feels right for you. ;o) Take care

@lovingenergyyoga the problem I'm having is that I can't appease my skepticism with research because there is little readily available on the internet. From what I've found, Emoto merely selected the most influential pictures to show as the study and has thus been criticized for that. Also I don't understand how words can impact water (i've already argued with a friend over the metaphysical mental waves from feelings and emotions impacting the freezing; he couldn't find an answer to the words.)

If you don't know what constitutes real scientific experimentation then I would suggest you START by looking up what is involved in a double-blind experiment, the importance of controlling variables and the essential role of peer review. Then ponder why Emoto ignored these things. Then you might want to investigate where he got that doctorate from...

@martialalex I really enjoy your feedback, thanks martialalex. (smiles). There is more than Dr. Emato's work but regardless as we all know we don't have the answers to everything. I guess this is what makes life interesting. Even scientists don't, and have been wrong many times. Have you tried the 'rice experiment'? You can goggle/utube it. You need to put some elbow grease into this and not go by what perhaps you've read/heard. You think, therefore you are. Much love

Masuru Emoto's water crystals seem rather amazing at first - the word "love" creating beautiful crystals, the words "i hate you, etc." creating ugly images. However, what the film doesn't explicitly state is that Mr. Emoto knows the word/blessing used, and could have looked for a crystal that "matches" the word. To demonstrate a real/credible effect, Mr. Emoto would need to be blind to the word being used.

  • @CoryGibbons

  • @BerryTheBnnuy
    @BerryTheBnnuy 13 років тому

@moderjoker Yes, the photos are of real ice crystals which form in random shapes. One bottle of water produces a lot more than just 1 ice crystal per bottle. Please look up something called "confirmation bias" to see why it is highly unlikely that the photos being real has any bearing on the subject whatsoever.
You can do the same experiment and get different shaped crystals than he got. Every single time. Look hard enough in any bottle and find similar ice crystals to all the others.

First thing you'll learn when you become aware is that with all our science we are but infants to the knowledge of the universe.

  • @BerryTheBnnuy

@florrirose of course you feel better with positive, loving thoughts than negative, angry ones. The problem is, that has nothing to do with it.
Think about it. The photos they're showing are exactly like snow flakes. You know how snow flakes work right?
Masuru's experiments can be a complete hoax and that in itself would not disprove the benefits of positive thinking. It simply means that Masauru failed to prove that positive thinking can affect the shape of ice crystals.

  • @pocketjedi

@martialalex that said what I'm getting to is 'water' cognition may have nothing to do with a 'osmosis affect'. normal cell permeable transition occurs in people. what about gaseous state evaporated water? there are networks of water connecting the world. it's a interesting theory no? before science knew of osmosis it was magic. The water was frozen, like a hard drive storing data, no less interesting is if we give off something record-able in frozen water

"... What the film makers didn't say is that Emoto knows the word used, and looks for a crystal that matches that word (biased data selection). To demonstrate a real effect, Emoto would need to be blind to the word used. James Randi has said that if Emoto could perform this experiment double-blinded, it would qualify for the million dollar prize. (He has never applied.) Such a protocol would show there is no correlation between the words taped to a bottle and the crystals formed within. "

'The Journal of Science and Healing' is not a scientific journal, it is an alternative medicine journal. It is peer-reviewed, yes, but it's chief editor is Dead Radin, who is primarily a researcher in the field of 'Telekinesis'.
There is a difference between a peer-reviewed _scientific_ journal, and an 'alternative medicine' journal. The research he presents in that paper is hardly scientific... I need to sleep now, but an article in that journal does not imply any scientific evidence. BBL.

He has also many amazing published books for you to read up on this work that he's dedicated his life too. Obviously having a positive life outlook will make you more open to opportunity when it presents itself. However- there is no evidence that these experiments are valid. They have yet to be replicated. The fact that he supposedly photographed differences in structure means nothing. These were not controled experiments. I'd be interested to see these experiments replicated but until then, I remain skeptical.

It would also be nice if he kept the conditions under which he froze the water constant and didn't allow them to change. Maybe Emo should get a real degree from a real university. Maybe I'm asking for too much. At least he admits to not a real scientist.

No, I'm not saying that at all, and I certainly don't want this to turn into a pointless existential mud-slinging match(!)...
But I am saying that the idea of peer-reviewing papers only counts as long as the scientific method is adhered to by all involved, and the paper is assessed in a critical manner, regardless of belief. If this wasn't the case, then we could have peer-reviewed religious journals, which state an Abrahamic god's presence as fact, or any number of other beliefs!
