    This is the 1939 version. The '27 opens with small orchestra.

    Can someone write the exact text she's singing?

      The Nightingale and the Rose (Oriental Romance), Op. 2 no. 2 by Nikolai Rimsky Korsakoff; tranlated from the Russian of KOLTZOFF by Deems Taylor
      Copyright MCMXIX by Oliver Ditson Company
      The nightingale sings to the rose,
      By day and night, his song of love;
      In silence to the song she hearkens.
      So on his lyre the poet sings,
      And, singing, woos the timid maid
      Who silent listens, all unknowing
      For whom he sings, nor why so sad,
      So fraught with pain his yearning song.
      [Vocalise a bocca chiusa (humming at end) is not in the vocal part, but is taken from the upper piano part]
