I thought ang word na suman in Visayan means malagkit na rice with clear latik (gata with white sugar) na binalot sa dahon ng saging. Moreover, I also grew up thinking na ang word na latik is a viscous liquid form ng nilutong gata mixed with sugar and not the solids formed from heating the coconut milk.
@@jayroh3996 Hello po! Suman has different versions of cooking and ingredients. In our province, we use muscovado sugar to add sweetness rather than refined sugar. For us, latik is the result of boiled oil coming from coconut, even without sugar, it's flavorful and delicious to eat even without anything else. I heard in some provinces that latik is mixed with sugar, making it sweet and tasty. Anyway, any version of cooked suman is good as long as we enjoy and are proud of this food as our organic Filipino food for special occasions. Thank you po 🙏
