  • This is a step by step video to show how to make Kefir from hydrated grains. Kefir is a fermented drink made from cows milk that has live cultures in it very much like plain yoghurt. It is very versatile and can be used for baking, smoothies, sauce dressings and icecream!
Please note - Discarding the first batch - This batch can often be very watery, the grains need to acclimatise after shipping and to the milk being used.
Disclaimer - do your own research to make sure Kefir is suitable for you or anyone that will be consuming this produce.

Hello Helen, another excellent video. I have been making my own kefir now for 7 years. My kefir grains are still form the original batch and I have given away loads. I make 2 litres at a time and we mainly drink it plain as we are used to its sour taste now, lol. If I may share something that may help your viewers. I had been very sick from an infection that antibiotics wouldn't touch, eventually I was given intravenous antibiotics and they worked. But I was left quite sick afterwards as the antibiotics weakened my immune system. I asked for help in prayer and then found a video here on you tube all about the benefits of kefir and it was signed GOD. So I sent for my grains and the rest is history. Home made kefir is by far the best you can have so I became an evangelist for kefir, lol. We all have to take antibiotics from time to time so afterwards a good follow up with home made kefir will put our immune back on track. Thanks for this video Helen. I know it will help many who will be led here to learn about it. 😃👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Why do you need to discard the first batch?

Great question thank you so much for asking. The first batch can often be very watery, the grains need to acclimatise after shipping and to the milk being used. I have now added this to the description. Helen
