One of my favourites and not just because I live in Sussex . 🙂
The Kings College Choir: often imitated but never equaled. 👍🇬🇧🎄
Love how the organ scholar, with the greatest of ease shifted from the great to the choir manual.
Our family Christmas begins here: Christmas Eve, it's dusk/dark, the crazy shopping frenzy is over, my wife is preparing the evening meal (we often invite friends, who're on their own), the last of the decorations are put up and I look forward to taking my sons to Midnight Mass, in a chapel built in 1730, where the wonderful choir sings in English, Latin, German and French :)
So when shall I plan on being there? 🤗🌲 I will bring the egg nog !
Glad to see Tom Pickard returning as a choral scholar. His expe3rience as a chorister will be of great vlue in working with the boys.
What a beautiful time I have
Oh how sweetly singing you angels of the most High. Your singing is as sweet as honey.
A resplendent sound! Beautiful arrangement and effortless singing.
Will be big shoes to fill after Stephen - May he Rest in Peace. Cheers from Canada
Beautiful
An excellent balance is maintained between the trebles/altos and the tenors/bases, and being accompanied at an ideal volume (i.e. not over-powering) by the organist.
Beautiful singing n praising our Dearest Lord. God bless u all .
Such a peacfull choir..I love it!!
Perfect, this is what makes my Christmas!
My favorite Christmas song absolutely beautiful
angelic voices
Lovely easy flowing style, with subtle phrasing and dynamics. A pleasure to listen to.
Greetings from South Africa. Loving BBC Carols from Kings 2019
A lovely arrangement.
Perfect. And all year round too. King's College Choir has been a messanger directly from God for the best part of six centuries now. They are a blessing to humanity beyond belief yet are so taken for granted‽‽ I just don't understand.
Maravilhoso 🥰
STUNNING !!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR
How lovely -- tanks for posting.
My favourite one.👍
Thank you, beautifully done and flawless in delivery.Wishing you all in the choir a very Merry Christmas from Ontario,Canada 🎄🙏🇨🇦
2 dislikes already? Totally undeserved. My whole family have always enjoyed these lot and always will
Thank you and Happy Christmas from Texas.
This is far more than a Christmas carol. It is an ikon representing the accomplishments of civilization and a culture. All the more pleasing and important in an age where both civization and this culture of accomplishment are belittled and under attack.
Hermosooo
I always wait unpatiently for a new upload...
@@temitopefaleti7053 So can I. I'm not patient for new uploads either. In fact, I can't wait to hear the Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols broadcast on Christmas Eve. I am counting the days. I loooooove the King's College Choir, although I miss Sir Stephen. I always enjoyed watching him conduct, & I like his arrangements as much as I like Sir David Willcocks' arrangements. I am sooooo sorry Sir Stephen died. RIP Sir Stephen.
@@claireakaforestgreenorgang9506 that was a tragic loss; too common :'(
Amazing video to practise
Came here from "The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends" anthology. Absolutely beautiful.
Soon Christmas again!
A very fine performance, but I prefer the tempo a bit faster, the way Stephen did it.
You are thinking of the David Wilcocks arrangement. I love R V-W but I too prefer the Wilcocks version. This is a bit ponderous by comparison.
Yes, it is way too slow. This is a song of joy, not a dirge. But it is not horrific like Transiberian Orchestra's "Execution of the Bells."
@@thomashunt6123 Daniel Hyde’s more measured tempos are taking the choir back in the direction of Ledger, Wilcocks and Ord. And that is ideal for the acoustic of the building
god it's so beautiful ✨🥺🌸🧘🏼♂️
PLEASE POST once in royal david's city
Wooooooow!😲😀
Amen
Can you upload full video( carols from king's 2019)?
i am doing this as a solo
Different arrangement, interesting but quite fun. It’s a bit slower than usual, wasnt it- but all together, a good presentation. It should be faster.
The notes say this arrangement is by Ralph Vaughn Williams. This may account for the different pace of the music. Some like the carols the same old, same old and some of us like to hear new arrangements. To each his/her own.
Wow this version the tempo is much slower than usual
not the same without stephen cleobury may he rest in peace
Cleobury towards the end of his tenure, began to develop a strained, rigid, almost puritanical sound.
This sounds much more natural, but I do hope they maintain some of that diction.
מדהיםםםםםםם❤️🇮🇱❤️🇬🇧❤️
It's too slow and sounds even a bit laboured. This is supposed to be a rousing carol. Apart from this, Kings always sound so professional and thankfully still such a traditional looking choir of men and boys. I personally detest this modern trend of attempting to make our male choirs more inclusive by having mixed sexes. Boys and girls choirs should be totally separate.
Yhis arrangment , it's too slow and not at how it should be sung. That said it's Kngs College.
Isn't this supposed to be a joyful carol? I miss the emotion, the excitement.
not a fan of the voices....doesn't sound angelic in the least to me....prefer strictly adult voices! everyone's entitled to their own opinions even if it doesn't mesh with yours.
I suppose you could post the same thing on the Vienna Boys Choir video, but why bother. It's nice to have the variety and people will always have preferences. We are lucky to have You Tube and hear things free of charge. It's a pity those boys worked so hard to give displeasure.
@Nate The Statutes of the College laid down by King Henry VI in 1441 require sixteen boys to lead the choral foundation of King's College. It has been the same ever since.
Wow Suprime!
Beautiful

This was my fathers favorite carol. I sang it to him right before he passed! 😥. He always said this carol made him feel like all his worries and troubles were gone! MISS u Dad everyday!!!!! ✝✝
Take care this season.
@@Jackleber thank you kindly !!!! 🤗🤗🤗 Same To You!!! The world is pure insanity right now
That’s a lovely story. Away in a Manger does that for me
@@capricorngirl52405 it's Amazing how certain pieces of music can mean so much! Be blessed and be safe this Christmas ! 🤗🤗
This brought tears to my eyes! My own father passed away back in January. May God bless you and ease your burden of grief.
