these guys should've just carried on being extreme grindcore band carcass.....keeping a style has worked for many many other bands.....in fact, how disappointed would cannibal corpse fans be if they released an album that sounded more like slayer? fuck that!! i buy cannibal corpse i expect to hear cannibal corpse.....carcass should've done the same and they'd be sitting pretty now.....still, it is what it is and i'm forever grateful for those first two albums

Swansong has better songs than a lot of 'classic' metal albums and the sound is heavy. Sometimes that isn't enough. Times change, people change.
Ken your struggle was monumental. So humbling to listen to you.

I didn't like "Swansong" at all. But the outtakes from that session that were released later on the "Wake Up & Smell The Carcass" compilation were much, much better. If those songs along with 3 or 4 from "Swansong" had been on the CD, it would have been a much better record.

@@davidvanpelt7100 It's funny seeing my old comment after all this time. I revisted "Swansong" last year. It was only the second time I had heard it. I ended up buying it again on Discogs. It's not as bad as I had remembered.
Ive been a fan since Symphonies was released. I have absolutely loved every single album by Carcass. They are pioneers of the metal scene, as well as brilliant songwriters and musicians. I will be a fan for life.
Been watching this documentary through the week and Ken is the highlight of this series. First death metal band I got right into back in 1994 after hearing Heartwork. Ken's drums were so creative. Still a legend forever and my best thanks to him, Bill and Jeff for forming one of the most inspiring bands of my time!
Each album has its own identity...and all of them are great...Carcass was and is a fucking great band!!!

Bottom line, Carcass is an amazing band for anyone who followed them from the beginning. They were progressive on every album and will always be my fav band. You cant fault the guys for getting better and OLDER. Cant wait wait for Surgical Steel and a show in NYC
