Just beautiful, this garden that was made for us. I grew up in rural Canada. The road I lived on had very few paved driveways. There were swallows nests in the gables of every single house. Now every house has a paved driveway and swallows nests in gables are extremely rare. The major impact it made is that the mosquitos are horrible at times now. The balance that existed since the 1600's is off. We have plans to change that next year. We still have a summers worth of data to collect and we should be able to restore that balance. I'm including education to our arsenal this summer in the peak of mosquito season, so that the locals are fully aware of the role these birds have played and will play going forward. We've been talking about this in certain circles throughout the community and its always well received. I'm confident they'll thrive here very soon, the people of this area are compassionate, caring and hospitable people. Great community. Alot of life around us plays a pivotal role in how we experience nature, and most of us are oblivious to this. That's o.k. too, it's a part of the beauty of the system. There are people who are interested enough for 100 people and that's o.k. too.
Kind of, 😂 albeit they are stingless and absolutely harmless to humans. Moreover, they feed on mosquitoes, flies, gnats, and other airborne bloodsucking scavengers. Lovely and tender creatures.
These species evolved together for thousands of years, of course one benefits from the other. This is why it's so important for humans to minimize our impact on the environment.
I have two of the cute master builders building their nest in my balcony. Right above my sliding glass door frame . One is extremely friendly she acts like it want to fly on my finger .
And I thought buffalos had grown wings and were helping out the cliff swallows bring the material up there. African swallows are known to carry coconuts, but cliff swallows are a more delicate type of bird.
So overall the cliff swallows will hover over the group of bison and asking em be like " Hey did ya poop? No? Hey you over there! The one with a two feet long horns, did ya poop?
In my village Manipur state of India our forefathers believe the swallow will choose the house where they wanna build their nest and if the swallow built their nest it brings luck to the home owner so we let them choose and built their nest

I appreciate this comment! I’m from rural Canada, too, and loved seeing the barn swallows. Thank you for this.
I'm a farm boy now in Alberta. Loved this comment.
Dominique Hebert You are someone I look up to! Texas boy here!
It's disappointing how many people I've seen demolish barn swallow nests knowing full well it's illegal.
PRAYFORMOJO I know, it’s outrageous...
2:09 that scenery is so beautiful
beautiful valley
Yellowstone is stunning. A must visit for nature and landscape appreciators
Fascinating video. No wonder my husband and I saw so many cliff swallows in southwest South Dakota: they had plenty of bison helping them.
I assumed it had something to do with the bison's poop.
Bison's poop burns (Indians burned it) - birds don't want a house fire.
@@paulsawczyc5019 then the swallow should quit smoking!
I thought it would be bison hair.
Me Too
That's what I assumed too because of bison's fibrous poop.
I figured from the title of this video the swallows would use bison hair as a binder for their nests.
Exactly my thoughts too
Right? These people don't know how to make a video.
Remarkable photography! I have seen swallow nests on bridges, but never thought I'd get to see the building process in such detail.
So they are basically feathered wasps.

Try to watch Netflix's "Our Planet" series on Netflix UA-cam channel. It was like.. Maybe 3 months ago.
Love to see beautiful birds free in the wild doing their things. In my place, there is no more. People capturing them.
I have two of the cute master builders building their nest in my balcony. Right above my sliding glass door frame . One is extremely friendly she acts like it want to fly on my finger .
One of the bird species we still need on the show’s lists.
It took me three times watching this clip before I realized that the narrator is Bill Pullman. I’m glad I did because that was gonna bug me all day.
I thought the birds were gonna live inside the buffalo
@Oliver Viehland The fur, or the end part of a buffalo

Used to be billions of pigeons - all gone.
Because of men!
*America there were very little bisons roaming the other 22 nations in NA

Beautiful - the video shows the intricate relationship of all life. One missing piece and the ecosystem collapses...
i didn't know bird could also do this, not just insects
Nature always nice without human intervention but thanks for sharing God bless
That's cool
It would be nice if everyone cooperates on protecting the remaining natural habitats.
I'm cooperating
But does a bison know the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
Love the Monty Python reference!
Is it me but when it said bison on the title i instantly thought of appa (only ATLA will understand)
In my village Manipur state of India our forefathers believe the swallow will choose the house where they wanna build their nest and if the swallow built their nest it brings luck to the home owner so we let them choose and built their nest
Bison? U mean swallow?
aditya mohan yes thank you for the correction
What a lovely tradition! And I'm sure they appreciate the pest control aspect of having the swallows around, too.
