Fell in love with the Challenger when I saw Vanishing Point as a teen. I bought a driving, pieced-together 73, 318 in 2000 from a MOPAR junk yard for $1,200. It was a driver and I slowly was fixing it while still being able to drive it all over the place until an uninsured A-hole rear-ended me at full speed and destroyed the frame. I sold it for scrap. I plan on buying another in the future but, you can't even find a rolling chassis for under $10K anymore.
The one thing about these restored cars that aren't original is, if your not going to go original, then why not convert them to four-wheel disc brakes? The first thing I would do is convert them. Why they didn't build them all that way from the factory, considering disc brakes were already being used since the 50's, is beyond me. Cheap bastards! Anyway, that's my rant!

no underbody protection, no exhaust heatshield protection, hydraulic brake lines hanging free, fuel line hanging near the exhaust manifold, etc
