In her 39th year before the public, soprano Cheryl Studer made her role debut as Countess Adelaide in this same work late last month in Hamburg. the baritone has a rich full voice, the soprano a light lyrical voice.
Patricia Mcdonald Well, the soprano could lighten her voice when asked for or when she wanted. But she is not a light lyric and never was. It's in fact the first time ever I've heard anyone describe her as such.
Patricia Mcdonald FYI examples of light lyrics include Kathleen Battle and Barbara Bonney. But not Studer who has sung wide ranging rep, from lyric to coloratura to dramatic, including mezzo and contralto character/supporting roles presently.
Eine Frage: gibt es eigentlich noch eine unveröffentlichte Elektra von Abbado mit Norman und Studer?
