wow, thank you! sorry the video is so painfully long. i had delusions of grandeur regarding my editing ability, and wasnt able to cut it down like i had originally intended. i talk way too much, haha. but, in theory this should work for most reels. thanks!
I have to say, Old Sport, I found this video totally engrossing. It was all stuff I wanted to know and more, as any reel I take apart never goes back together the same and I always end up with screws, washers, and a few mysterious bits that don't seem to fit anywhere, so watching you do all that was a great help.
You did a wonderful job. I have a bail-less VS reel that is perfect in the surf. I don't want to buy another one or switch it to another rod. I have the perfect low cost spinning reel I would like to try this conversion on. Thank you for this great information, tight lines!
Thanks... I apologize for the length, it ended up more than twice as long as I intended... I talk too much (in general) and editing it down proved harder than I thought it would be
real questions, what is stopping us from buying the *parts for the bailess for say $3.50? anyone figure this out, im guessing a penn slammer bailess parts with a cheap wrath or something?
Even with Bait I'll still fish a bailless reel , all my spinning reels bailless, because like the video said , with a far cast with a bloody fish head on I don't trust the bail cus it close on me.
Man that’s a lot of effort ! Did you search eBay for bailless kits for penn battle ?? Still you have a one of a kind reel .. in 40 yrs it will be collectable with a story ...
i didn't know about a bailess kit for the battle. my video skills are terrible, i didn't have an editor so the video is wayyyy too long. honestly the whole thing can be done pretty quick, and it for a few bucks you can swap it back. in retrospect... a 4000 is probably a tad too small for bailess, because i generally use that reel for smaller lures (1oz and below). seems like a 1oz lure is the minimum size you'd want to be fishing a bailess... at least that was my take.
31:00 that thing under the bolt is called a rotor locking plate
Out of the all the UA-cam instructions, this is the best found for converting any reel. Thank you

The tip for no automatic close of the bail was awesome. Do you think it can be done in any reel? I have a daiwa ninja lt 2500 and i want to try it.
Yes
Are you in Jersey?
I fish Jersey, but I live in PA
