This was the first time that Dallas had finally moved their opening credits footage from the rusty ass late 70s into the 80s. It was about friggin time!!!
Barbara returned for the remaining 6 year run of Dallas, I can admit that I never watched an episode, but looking at this opening theme I can so get hooked on this show
The dream was hard to buy for many fans, but really the only way to bring back Bobby in a believable way. And the 1986-1987-season is great, the downfall started when Pam left.
Dallas was really before my time, I only saw the show on repeats on cable TV in the early 2000s..But you know, Donna Reed was a good actor and the way that she was treated by Larry Hagman and Producer Leonard Katzman was despicable Even Barbara Bel Geddes said when she came back into the show that she was not happy with the way that Donna was treated, especially when she died of pancreatic cancer a short time later after she was axed from the series. It was disgusting
Who knows if it would have worked if the writers had stayed true to the miss Ellie audience was seeing for 7 years they should have seen if Donna could have pulled it off but no they turned her into a sophisticated type of character and that wasn't what we saw with Barbara
There is so much about this season that I enjoy. It was the only season on DVD that I binged. I skipped season 8. All the other seasons were good, but it was easy to stop between each episode and return to it another day or another week.
Yep - many cast and crew members confirm in the Barbara Curran book (excellent, BTW, if you haven't read it) is that while the public reason for Bel Geddes' departure was "health reasons", in actuality it was over salary and length of work day.
Are you kidding? This was a great season! Ok,there is only one Miss Ellie Barbara Bel Geddes, but we only had Donna for a short while and got Barbara back.
Barbara left the show due to health reasons, or due to a contract dispute, depending on whom you believe. Donna Reed stepped in, but the producers fired her when Barbara offered to return.
Lex5576 and see how it had happened when Larry Hagman aka JR EWING passed away. The new Dallas got cancelled! I guess JR’s son was still not good enough to be like his daddy. All the that the son has is having a pretty face and a hard d**k! lol
It just doesn't seem right without Barbara Bel Geddes up top. Still I agree this is the point where the show truly appreciated the enormous following it had.
Mark is meant to be alive,he comes back next season but its all a dream! I think its mean to be Katherine who hired the assassin, because he says had orders to kill Nardo and frame Jenna, remember Katherine throws her glass at the tv when Jenna gets out.
Too bad this wasn't Dream Season. If Donna Reed was only there Pam could have made comments about how Miss Ellie just wasn't herself throughout the dream, giving a little extra humor to the show.
I really like these Dallas credits even though its Donna Reed as Miss Ellie and not the one and only Barbara Bel Geddes. I guess its because its just before Dallas got really silly with dream seasons,a really young wifr for J.R. and a long lost son who couldn't act!
nice theme opening sequence, but i can always remember just wanting to walk up that lane/avenue towards southfork house(maybe will someday)when it was in its heyday and still.hot weather, peace and great outdoors.whos the family living in southfork anyone know?
I wouldn't say that BBG was 'frumpy' she was just more 'earthy', as she loved the land, and Southfork - plus, she had the real temperament to handle J.R. - Donna Reed was just too damn nice, like her character on her sitcom to be Miss Ellie!
@Pasquier82 I don't think that Donna was a better fit, as she didn't have the vim and vinegar that Barbara brought to the role - Donna was too 'nice' to J.R. compared to BBG, as she NEVER was afraid to stand up to him!
The question I ask were the producers happy they fired reed as obviously by late 85 she would have withdrawn anyway causing problem for show. Or wish they had waited and saved million bucks and b bd come back 86 87 following season
Donna Reed was not a good replacement. She was more glamourous wheres Barbera B.G was a bit frumpy in her summer dresses and her reading glasses on a neck chain. A more 'motherly' figure if you will.
Istenem! ha mégeccre leadnák a teljes sorozatot, én annak akor nagyon örülnék! de jó is volna, mondjuk a Kisváros-t ujra kezdék akkor ezt miért ne?! na csá
Every TV show has it's limit, going past series 8 is a great achievement, anything beyond that is a bonus for the true fan, long live JR.
Susan Howard,a very underrated lady on Dallas!
She was my favorite
This was the first time that Dallas had finally moved their opening credits footage from the rusty ass late 70s into the 80s. It was about friggin time!!!
It took them seven seasons to finally bring in a full orchestra background.
Dallas was and still is great viewing love it JR'S the man
This show used to follow the "Dukes" every friday night...
And Falcon Crest followed it at 10 as well!
This season was the last to follow the Dukes, cause 84-85 was the Dukes final season.
I think this is the first intro when they finally update with the new skyscrapers downtown. So cool to see the BOA under construction.
Those gold bldgs were so gold! Not as gold today but still look great. Maybe needs glass replacement.
Same glass in 2017, as in 1978. :)
This was filmed in the summer of 1984. The original was filmed in early winter of 1978, when the grass and leaves were all dead.
Also one of the first, if not the first to use those synth drums in theme tune.
They never changed the centre photo of Victoria Principal the whole time she was in the show.
Shirt and Jeans from K-Mart.

connyben and Sue Ellen Ewing

DONNA REED TAKING OVER BARBARA BEL GEDDESS WAS ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATING.....
Who knows if it would have worked if the writers had stayed true to the miss Ellie audience was seeing for 7 years they should have seen if Donna could have pulled it off but no they turned her into a sophisticated type of character and that wasn't what we saw with Barbara
Actually the Donna Reed season was before the Dream Season.
Always remember my mum watching this every Wednesday night 8pm on BBC 1. Loved how every season the bit from 0:11 to 0:13 would differentiate
Yes! This 1984-1985 version with the cool steel guitar lick was my favourite. Other seasons paled in comparison 🎸

Happy 40th anniversary DALLAS

Totally agree,
Instämmer. Bästa "drama" serien genom tiderna och moder till alla såpor. Inget går upp mot Dallas.
Good Lord, just a full on babe alert in the heart of Texas.
Larry Hagman kept CBS's palms greased with high ratings season after season after season.

@@luerike idk? In some quarters those attributes are more than enough 😁

@UFOSPACE1999 They did (in a manner of speaking) when Clayton Farlow (Howard Keel) was added to the cast that fall.
nice theme opening sequence, but i can always remember just wanting to walk up that lane/avenue towards southfork house(maybe will someday)when it was in its heyday and still.hot weather, peace and great outdoors.whos the family living in southfork anyone know?
Is that the one where he showed JR how life in Dallas would have been if he was never born?? I've been wondering when that episode will be on.
oh right cheers

sorry to press and thanks again ceno 1975,but what are they doing with it.walk in tours or..?

legend jr R.İ.P😒😒😒😒
The first version with the extended end.
Enfin jenna arrive
But Dallas returned...and Sue Ellen too!
the donna reed strange debacle. BBG and DR are both awesome but one could not step in for the other
The question I ask were the producers happy they fired reed as obviously by late 85 she would have withdrawn anyway causing problem for show. Or wish they had waited and saved million bucks and b bd come back 86 87 following season
The season with Donna Reed remplacing Barbara Bel Geddes was the most ridiculous. A total non sense.
shortly after donna reed died.
lol i heard their trying to make a movie.
donna reed died january 1986
all a dream the next season???? lol

Dieser "lange" Bildschirm ist nicht am besten...
Ez a hosszított kép kicsit torzít, nem a legjobb:-(
I absolutely despise Donna Reed!!!
fake Miss Ellie!
