- So what's a Thailand vlogger to do to celebrate his 60th birthday? Have a party? Been there, done that and worn out the T-shirt. I decided to invite a few friends and subscribers to come on a weekend trip to see the 'Unseen Thailand' with me. On this day we visited Khao No in Nakhon Sawan Province, the perfect thrill seekers day trip destination.
The day was given even more meaning because Eamonn decided it was the place he wanted to honour a friend of his who had recently died at the age of 64. Apparently his friend Gary was a man who loved to travel and lived life to the full and what better way to remember him than to 'Get Busy Living' ?

That felt a bit easier than last time Karl, I think because we didn't do the side mountain and monkey cave first, and we had more rests on the way up (although I did have a little nap at the top haha). It's wonderful up there but we really should have got Bob the Bulgarian to tap dance for us!
I remembered you really suffered that first visit we did together, slow and easy definitely the way to go. Yeah, missed opportunity lol. Cheers

Happy belated birthday Karl, my wifes farm is only 20 minutes from Khao No, I first went to Khao No in 1993 before it became a tourist spot. Rice farm country. great views, well worth the climb, cheers

Superb video and a great send off wiith the compass for Gary Wilson , you couldn't of picked a hotter day , was.the same when we visited about 3 months back , have family just across the road , lovely part of Thailand to celebrate 60 years young , see you for a jar when your next free for a catch up

Ridiculous gap between the steps/ rungs. They make the Bamboo ladders the same. It's not like Thais have exceptionally long legs.

It’s a great, adventurous day out Brett. I tend to go up about 2.30-3.00 pm for two reasons; 1. The sun starts to dip over the other side of the mountain then making the journey up a lot cooler and 2. You get down bang on time to see the bats. Look for the statue of the big monkey on the way in, that is the bat viewing point. Have fun

mighthave to skip this one a bit danger, imagine goingup at 8am and at 10am the metal is hot tot ouch and you cant holdon very well...
I find it best to go up about 3pm because the sun dips to the opposite side of the mountain to the stairs and IMO the stairs are the toughest part. The ladders can get intensely hot but a thin pair of gloves would be enough to make it not an issue. Cheers

That looks like a lot more than 220 metres….come on!?
Just checked on Google Earth Dave. The summit is 238m asl although it does feel higher and the bottom isn't always exactly sea level so I think my gps was just about right, cheers

Congratulations Karl! With the anniversary and the climb. I know this is (again) an extremely difficult one. Strange to see these very steep hills rising from an otherwise flat area.
Many thanks! Yes, those mountains really stick out from the surrounding plains, you can even see them from parts of Nakhon Sawan City centre. I drove past them many times without realising that you could go up Khao No.
Brilliant, lots in there from Bob making the trip to thailand, the story of the compass, the bats and what state the girls feet must have been in at the bottom. Oh and the drone footage...mint.
