    You should have used a model who has puffy eyes. Your model doesn't have them.

    Cold water constricts, not dilates. Ring finger is the weakest, not the middle, don't go inward when you massage. So many things wrong here...

    Great Video but I have some comments. Firstly, cold water and/or ice does not cause vasoDILATION but rather vasoCONSTRICTION. This is the reason why we use ice to reduce the swelling associated with sprains. Swelling is caused by the escape of fluid by vasodilated blood vessels secondary to localized inflammation and trauma. By applying ice these blood vessels tighten up or vasoconstrict thereby reducing the swelling.

    I thought the middle finger is the strongest and the ring finger gives less pressure...?

  • @lvergara87
    @lvergara87 14 років тому

    @sd167 yeah, you might be right, but i did read before that the reason why cold water dilates the vessels is because the room temperature is warmer, so after you wash with cold water your vessels dilate and thus your circulation improves. That is why they say is good to shower with cold water, just think about the opposite when you take a hot bath it feels so cold right after.

  • @Jessir14
    @Jessir14 14 років тому

    When the skin temperature falls below about 10°C, the surface blood vessels dilate (get wider) rather than constrict, If the temperature falls further periods of blood vessel dilation alternate with periods of constriction, This is because your body is trying not to lose heat from the extremities, but at the same time wants to supply the skin with blood for oxygen and nutrients. This is an excerpt from a website.

    @Houseitch cold water closes up PORES but dilates BLOOD VESSELS = circulation. That's why cold patches are used on cellulite areas...they improve the circulation...that's the way she was going according to the eyes! xoxo

    Green tea bags work well if you have puffy eyes due to allergies and help with the itching.

  • @kalookakoo5
    @kalookakoo5 13 років тому

    @TaintedxHalo Yeah you're right, hot water dilates, not cold water. Though she said it wrong, you do want to use the cold water to constrict the vessels to reduce the puffiness, but you'd just be better off sleeping more instead of lowering blood flow through your body.

    Wow! Those patches REALLY worked! My eyes are puffed from way too much time looking at my PC screen and lack of sleep. I usually take 1 day a week and make sure to avoid my PC and TV :( and get 8-9 hours of sleep. That pretty much refreshes me for 3-4 days. Now I'm going to try those patches for the other 3 days of the week.

    Hi, I'm fourteen years old, and a generally healthy teen. I've been having such trouble with the bags under my eyes and I want them gone as soon as possible. Can you take a second and read this comment? (: I've tried the used tea bag thing (20 min), I've tried ice (15 min), I've tried sleeping sitting up, and I've also tried putting cold milk on a paper towel (10 min). None of these have helped! I'm a little skeptical about trying cucumbers now considering all the other stuff I've tried.

    If you don't have a cucumber on hand, ice will work just as well. It's the cold temperature of the cucumber that alleviates the swelling more so than the actual cucumber itself.--Albeit, it is definitely more relaxing to sit for 10 minutes with a frozen cucumber than ice. Also, try to avoid hot showers; if you take a shower, either cover your face (a cold rag would work) or take a cold shower--I know that sounds awful, but then again, so are puffy eyes!

    @beti05 No... why do you think medical advice is to use ice on a minor injury? It reduces swelling and constricts blood vessels to minimise bruising

  • @Imolabren
    @Imolabren 13 років тому

    Two points of misinformation here:
    -As mentioned, cold does not dilate, but constricts. Personally, I use a warm compress & gentle pressure 1st, to dilate the vessels & encourage fluid to leave the area. Then immediately splash w/ cold h2o to constrict & prevent fluid from pooling into the are again.
    -The RING finger, NOT the middle finger should be used when applying anything around the eyes. The RING finger is the finger that gives the least amount of pressure. I thought everyone knew that!

    I know of two home remedies:
    1. lay slices of raw, chilled potatoes on your bags for ten mins.
    2. use your ring finger to smear a little preperation H ( chilled in the fridge ) on the area.

For waterbased, non-toxic makeup (like nailpolish), someone told me about Honeybee Gardens or Suncoat Products, but, I think you ladies would look fine without any makeup!
