I am not Samoan, but one cannot help but admire the tradition and the importance of family support. I really enjoyed watching this brief insight to the boys journey, too much!! Thank you for sharing!

Indeed. My family have our own artist that keeps our designs according to our family’s own history from Faala, Palauli! Samoa is one of a kind!

how amazing it is to catch a glimpse into the true inner workings of the Samoan culture and its traditions in Tatu. through even the worst of imperialism the Pacific , from both European and Asian cultures , Pacific cultures have stayed strong in their familial strength and it is very comforting to know that the modern age has not encroach too much into the most beautiful cultures on Earth , Pacifica.

I am proud to be a Samoan. No other nationality on earth can come close to our samoan culture, customs, and traditions. The tatau (for men) and the malu (for women) is sacred and it carries a special meaning to a True Samoan Family.
Thank you for reminding me why I am proud to be a samoan.

What do you mean by “no other nationality can come close to Samoan culture” that seems like your pride has turned to arrogance!? Sometimes people can be too prideful and start to look down on other people, that’s not right, no one is above anyone. We are all human!

@@RareGem369yeah it speaks of arrogance. We are all human. Guy should just said to him, being Samoan is special, which should be the case for all of us. Embrace who we are but also appreciate our differences between cultures, languages, and countries.

Saw this a few years ago. I was fascinated to say the least. coming across it for the second time. I find myself tearing up lol not because of the pain getting it done. but its the love and support of your family. from day one till completion. E le faigofie. Malō le Tali Au. Malō le Sausau.

5:05 Thank you! So many Samoans say "get your sogaimiti." No, sogaimiti is the person. Pe'a is the name. You get a pe'a, not a sogaimiti. Well, unless you are looking for a sogaimiti for marriage, you are getting a pe'a.

I love my Samoan Culture and the Pea n Malu. There are some things that should be sacred. I was shocked when my friends n I went to a nightclub in Auckland and i saw a girl with a Malu. Her skirt was very short, she was drunk and all i could see was her Malu. To me when a Samoan girl gets oneof those, its her familys honour she is carrying. To have one coz it is fasionable tgese days its wrong. I have only seen my aunties n uncles showing their Tatau out of respect at an occassion, and when they dance at a samoan occassion. But to see it like that i felt disgusted n disappointed...😬🙄
