Sarah Sherman is a rare example of someone who joined SNL but didn't need a season (or more) to find their place on the show. She stepped in and was great from her first show forward. She's an incredible talent and probably the cutest thing I've ever seen.
Yeah she didn't need to gain confidence, she came with it. She had also already learned to fully lean into the weird.

She's delivered much more confident performances in her subsequent seasons, and I love all of it. Wonderful that she's touring with Sandler. Could not be a better choice.
