My dad used to drive a trash truck and around 10-ish years ago he came home with a plastic bag filled with Snes games the console and controllers etc needless to say it was the awesomest thing EVER and I played it for hours on end when he brought it home, I still have it in a shoebox in my closet and every now and then a take it out just for some Super mario World and kirby all those classics I wasn't around when the system was in it's prime ( I came in towards the end of the saturn/ps1 era) it is still although being around 20yrs old the coolest game system in my opinion ( the dreamcast being a close second)
I remember marveling at the Super NES when I first saw it back around '91 at my friend's house. It's my favorite console of all time ...Sorry but I have to disagree. I think the Super NES is the cleanest and best or 2nd best looking console ever. Also, despite being a simple design, I love the look and feel of the SNES controller. The original NES and its controllers were boring-looking; the SNES brought some style and sturdiness into Nintendo products.
+G Ryen Well if Nintendo of America used the original Super Famicom design, the Snes would be a LOT more awesome. I never liked the for little kids-like design of the Snes.
+G Ryen I believe the SNES would have looked even better with the Japanese/European style case. The SNES also was the very first console with L & R (shoulder buttons) on the top of the controller, years before SEGA Saturn,Sega Dreamcast, Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, and even PSP.
@@PointReflex Let's agree to disagree. The super Nintendo looks so sleek And if you want a North American super Nintendo to look like a super Famicom they made a cheaper revision.
CHINA GONGETYA duh the number is still the same for the Nintendo service center they just stopped putting the number in back its smaller with a modern look

Triforce....haha. that's good. Man, with so many great games, that is a great question of what everyone's "Triforce" would be. I think mine would have to be: Super Metroid, Final Fantasy III, Yoshi Island II. (How can I leave out Zelda?) man, this is hard.....

I was addicted to the beautiful graphics, sound and excellent play control. I still have it. Fond memories and still fun to play today.
My favorite console of all time right here. As for whether it's prettier in North America or everywhere else is all based on taste. Personally I grew up with the grey and purple. So I'll take that anyday for nostalgic reasons. My opinion
When I first tried out gaming as a child, I used the Gameboy. But the Super Nintendo was when my love for video games truly began. I've started long-lasting relationships with iconical franchises, and all of them started on this console. Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong Country, Metroid and Final Fantasy, to name a few. The Super Nintendo will always be my favorite console of them all. It's a shame my old cables don't work anymore. Oh well, time to get them for Virtual Console.
I wasn't born in this generation of consoles, but after playing both systems I decided to go for Sega. The controller is just so much nicer for me, and although in the UK the SNES looks a lot better then the North American SNES, it still looks kind of dull compared to the Mega Drive. I definitely prefer Sonic over Mario too... Just my opinion guys! Nintendo is still amazing as well!
That’s because the PAL version is just a Super Famicom. Although the PAL version looks the same as a Japanese Super Famicom, Japanese carts will not work in a PAL console and vice versa while Japanese carts will work in a US SNES.

when I was a kid, If one of our games wasn't working properly, my parents would just buy a new one. Hell, I have three working SNES's! Two of them are smaller (probably the european ones) and one big ass american one. And two super famicom games (DKC 2 and 3) that I can only play using an adapter.
i was not born to see these things yet I have both an n64 and a nes just sitting on my desk and yes i bought them because i love them so much. i mean come on imagine a twelve year old buying an n64? it makes you think im like secretly 30 years old something but im not
I recommend Super Metroid, Super Mario All-Stars, Final Fight 1-2 and 3, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Chrono Trigger, Star Fox, Legend Of Zelda, Yoshi's Island, Mortal Kombat 2, Super Mario Kart, F-Zero, TMNT: 4, TMNT Tournament Fighters, Super Contra, Megaman X 1 and 2, Super R-Type, Final Fantasy 3, NBA Jam, Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2, Ninja Warriors, Batman Returns, Super Star Wars 1, 2 and 3, Samurai Showdown, Super Marioworld and Secret of Mana. I'm sure others can recommend more great games.
I'd buy a classic game system right now if you want one. Ebay prices have skyrocketed in the past few months. A clean system with a few games now goes for about 60-80 USD. You can get a "Unclean one" On Ebay for 30-40 "I'm talking about NES" Best bet is to look up a video on how to clean one, and grab one from a pawn shop where the owner doesn't know the value. SNES Is the next one to go up in price. You can grab a good one with a few games on ebay right now for 40$.
Man, I usually like Lord Karnage videos, but it's hard listening to his bias of the Genesis. Even on a review of the SNES, he talks about the Genesis. (why doesn't he talk about how great the genesis controller is on every system review)? Also had to put the sega genesis 3 in the video for some reason (didn't do that for his genesis review). I know I'm nit-picking, and will probably get bashed for it, but I hope Lord Karnage will take this into consideration for any future review type videos.
I still dont have one, which i am dying for one. But LUCKILY, I can get one at a store in a mall nearby. It sells ONLY old game consoles and their games. I cant wait until i can get one! I am a large nintendo fan and I don't know if you would ever see someone like this, begging for a SNES today. XD
I went to a local store to buy a Super Nintendo back in 2004. I talked to the guy at the desk, and pointed at the Super Nintendo in the desk. The guy told me that said Super Nintendo I pointed at was just a display. I saw fucking CORDS with it. I was a bit upset because it was close to my birthday and wanted to relive the awesome memories of playing Super Nintendo in my room. *sigh* I have yet to get another Super Nintendo, but I know a place or two to get one so I have not given up hope :)
Well, while the american console design really ... yeah, SUCKED BALLZ, the japanese an (our ^^) european design (the grey, round design) was faithful to the original famicom and stood out of all those semi-cool black and polished consoles like e.g. the turbo graphx 16, it just looked more friendly. Well, but the american design is ... well ... "unique" in its way ... somehow ...
each their own compainge. sega,s word mega vs nintendo,s word super. megadrive vs supernintendo. you should,ve compare those games. sonic the hedgehog vs supermarioworld. street of rage vs super steet fichter turbo. sonic 3d blast vs supermario rpg. virtua racing vs stunt race fx. svp vd superfx2. virtua fichter vs killer instict. vectorman vs donkeykong country castlevania bloodlines vs super castlevania 4. truxten vs r type 3 shining force vs final fantansy. wich system is the best who knows!?
Surely if you're going to run down a console for it's appearance (several times i might add) you're surely going to to also mention this is the north american version of the SNES, which, in comparison to the european and japanese versions is totally different in shape and style. Pity the reviewer of this video didn't do that. In fact, i've only once in my entire life come across one of these north american SNES's. When i think of a SNES, i do not think of the north american version.
I think it looks weird too. I grew up in the UK, and our SNES was styled like the Super Famicom, which looks pretty cool. When I came here to the States and saw the US version, I was baffled.
I grew up with the Sega Genesis, it was my very first videogame system but I prefer the SNES by far. The reason why I didn't own a SNES back in the day was because I didn't know it even existed. I knew about it when I grew up...
I really wanted to buy snes but in my country it wasn't popular as Mega Drive and also costed twice as much, I actually saved my pocket money to buy one but when I arranged the amount, Playstation came and I bought PSX, but still I really wished I had one.
Kinda neither.. ish? Nintendo pretended to abandon Sony for Philips, to get Sony to re-work the agreement so Nintendo would be able to make money off the CD games, Sony didn't want to budge, eventually Sony, Nintendo and Philips began to work together, then the Sega CD flopped and quickly Nintendo ditched CD, Sony made the PS1 and Philips made the CDi.
I remember getting a cart copier from Japan and renting games and copying them to a floppy disk and then one could play them for the cost of a rental, ha ha. That cart copier paid for itself after about 3 or 4 rentals. Killer system. I grew up on an Atari 5200 then a Commodore 128 computer but I also had an SNES and a Sega Genesis. Both are still great consoles to this day.
@Karatenerd5 I'm also a Nintendo nerd in middle school. I say get an SNES. Not only does the SNES have better games, but NES's are prone to failure. I have an NES 2. They work way better, but are more expensive. In addition, NES games get remade and rereleased more often than SNES games. IMO, the SNES is the smarter purchase.
sim city, Zelda, Super mario RPG, F-zero, Donkey Kong country, mario cart, yoshis island, oh the memories these games were great. I worked any odd job I could find so I could have a Super Nintendo, TG16 and Genesis, I think they all were fun but Super Nintendo was slightly better because of the excellent games in my opinion
@MBlueFlame Yeah man, you totally should. SNES may not have netplay or stuff like that, but if you haven't experienced the SNES, you MUST get one and start retro-gaming. Back in the day, when the SNES was released I was about 6 years old and I wanted one of those so bad but never got it. Luckily I had friends who had SNES and that's why I got to know it.
Yeah the US version is ugly. That's why I have a Super Famicom instead. Unfortunately that means I had to find an adapter for it cause the US carts are too big for the Super Famicom slot, and I didn't want to cut up the system.
the SNES also had an edge over the genesis in the fact it had actually 3D graphics thanks to the mode 7 chip, Genesis basically used optical illusion with its "3D" games, This is BASE genesis/megadrive, no add-ons still I Prefer the Genesis having grown up with it
i honestly like the rf out better because you can plug in as many as you wanna and not have to worry about unpluging some other shit from the back of my vcr if lower audio/video quality is what it takes for me not to have to go through all that trouble then so be it.
Maybe because you're too young to know about Super Nintendo. You're probably just a kid. Your parents probably have never told you about this game console. This is from 1991 anyway, way before your time kid.
i have a snes. my origianl was stolen when i was 14 years old. then a few months later i got a N64. i'm just got some what of a collection going on now for my collection. emulators suck compared to the real thing.
And how am I supposed to know if I like it before watching? I always thought that internet is democratic place, but apparently a bit of constructive criticism is too much to handle for some people. Grow up.
@razorbladelove101 That ain't no serial number, dude. It is the MODEL NUMBER, you just typed it. The serial number is on the big white sticker. If you check the controllers and the RF switch, it'll have similar model numbers.
The SNES design was indeed ugly. I prefer the Genesis model 1, as well as Dreamcast and the original XBOX. Nintendo's designs were always uglier than any other console.
Hey yo, Genny fan. Base Genesis could do "mode 7": watch?v=EFefE3r8mQA There you go, now there's yet another reason to love it, and "exclusive" thing less the SNES had. Note: NO SPECIAL CHIPS!
AND HE ALSO FORGOT TO MENTION WAS THAT SOME SNES GAMES COULD SAVE WHILE I REALLY DONT REMEMBER ANY SEGA GAME THAT COULD :D HAHAHA TAKE THAT SEGA BUT IT WAS CHEAPER THAN SNES BACK IN THE DAY I REMEMBER THAT
My second favorite console of all time and it has the best controller of all consoles in existens in my opinion. I like the japanise and european version better the same reason BombBakers said above
I can careless if its ugly or Pretty, Super Nintendo was a great system. So Many awesome games , I still have mine and always play the oldies but goodies !!
Mark is right: The american SNES is ugly as sin. I just don't understand why they didn't stick with the japanese/european design - so much sleeker, and none of that purple bullshit.
Hey Mark, did you know that they released an adapter for the SNES to turn it into a Sega Genesis? It's true, it's called the RetroGen Adapter, and best of all, it's only $20 brand new.
there actually is an adapter to make genesis games work on the super nintendo but i don't know why you would it, since i think its better to own both of the consoles, like i do :D
and ultraman.... ultraman is one of the worst fighting games of all time, its up there with shaq fu. iv'e now decided that you have no idea what you're talking about and im going back to the nerd
I was born in 1999 and i love retro stuff. Not because my parents :) They didn't know shit about retro consoles/computers. My dad BARELY knew what was a commodore :)))

Nintendo super toaster
Well, while the american console design really ... yeah, SUCKED BALLZ,
the japanese an (our ^^) european design (the grey, round design) was faithful to the original famicom and stood out of all those semi-cool black and polished consoles like e.g. the turbo graphx 16, it just looked more friendly.
Well, but the american design is ... well ... "unique" in its way ... somehow ...
each their own compainge.
sega,s word mega vs nintendo,s word super.
megadrive vs supernintendo.
you should,ve compare those games.
sonic the hedgehog vs supermarioworld.
street of rage vs super steet fichter turbo.
sonic 3d blast vs supermario rpg.
virtua racing vs stunt race fx.
svp vd superfx2.
virtua fichter vs killer instict.
vectorman vs donkeykong country
castlevania bloodlines vs super castlevania 4.
truxten vs r type 3
shining force vs final fantansy.
wich system is the best who knows!?
Unfortunately that means I had to find an adapter for it cause the US carts are too big for the Super Famicom slot, and I didn't want to cut up the system.
i love the genesis 3
the SNES also had an edge over the genesis in the fact it had actually 3D graphics thanks to the mode 7 chip, Genesis basically used optical illusion with its "3D" games, This is BASE genesis/megadrive, no add-ons
still I Prefer the Genesis having grown up with it
i honestly like the rf out better because you can plug in as many as you wanna and not have to worry about unpluging some other shit from the back of my vcr if lower audio/video quality is what it takes for me not to have to go through all that trouble then so be it.
The PAL/Japanese SNES/Super Famicom did look better.
Base Genesis could do "mode 7": watch?v=EFefE3r8mQA
There you go, now there's yet another reason to love it, and "exclusive" thing less the SNES had.
I just got doom with the giant angry red cartridge! NOT the best version of doom, I just got it for collecting purposes. Looks good in a collection.
I can careless if its ugly or Pretty, Super Nintendo was a great system. So Many awesome games , I still have mine and always play the oldies but goodies !!
I owned both the original and the Mini SNES as my original busted (so much rage from UMK3) but i much prefer the mini SNES
@animeswl46 There's also an SNES emulator for the DS, PC, Mac, Linux, iPhone, Android, Wii ...
Oh, I wish I still had mine. I'm going to buy one when I get the money.
I was born in 1999 and i love retro stuff. Not because my parents :) They didn't know shit about retro consoles/computers. My dad BARELY knew what was a commodore :)))
I got one a few months ago, and I really want to expand my library. I only have Star Fox, Super Gameboy, Super Empire Strikes Back,, Tetris 2, and Super Mario Kart.
Im 12 i wish i could go back to the atari ages or snes ages and play pong, galaga, pacman, legend of zelda, mario, and megaman instead of cod, skyrim, battlefield, minecraft
Doesn't Mark know you have to plug in the SNES to power before it'll play a Sega cartridge upside down?!
Even though you are a Genesis Fan Boy, I guess you found out that the SNES was much better but the games for both were so exclusive between..
Or..., it can take you 1-to, a few hrs. to beat ( Super Mario World ) a game, if you have the time, and also can master it...
