I think the contact paper looks good. You did a great job putting it down. I am so glad granite finally went out of style. I NEVER liked it. Marble looks clean, bright, warm, elegant, classic, and modern all at the same time. Your kitchen looks fabulous overall!
First off the broom is adorable 🤗 One option for the corners and specifically the tear over the dishwasher could be clear scotch tape. They make tape that’s crystal clear that would be nearly undetectable against the contact paper which would allow it to not tear any further. How do I know this? I used contact paper to cover my 7 year old’s desk because she kept getting marker on it. Well one day I went to clean the surface of the desk and to my surprise the sponge kept hitting something on the surface that I couldn’t see. I gave it a scratch with my nail and it was scotch tape that she got on the desk while doing an art project. Tape will mask that tear.
I’d say roll the contact paper under the counter and sea the edges with caulking. You can also use contractors glue for the edges once you know the paper is good to go (you’ve smoothed out all the bubbles, straightened it, etc.). Or use glue for the torn piece and maybe the tiniest bit of caulking around any edges that show where the paper’s torn.
Am I the only one screaming and holding my ears when she started using the magic eraser? I wish I would have utilized all these tips and tricks in my last apt. i love that contact paper
Hell yeah! I’m about to get me some for my new big girl apartment! Since I can’t afford real marble countertops I’m about to get this contact paper! Can’t wait to bougie up my place
the way i have been binge watching her videos, like every device i lay my hands on, I'm watching her videos. Honestly appreciate you sharing all this and doing these reviews. now anyone to bless me with marble contact paper??? anybody??? nobody?? okay, lol
I put contact paper on my desk in work about 3 years ago. it is a metal desk and that has taken a beating and it's been very durable or peeling. I did choose a wooden look so I have not seen any stains. Love this video you look loke u have a lot of fun. definitely subscribing.
The very best thing of all time to use is EZFauxDecor...I am just now changing this vinyl because I am doing a kitchen refresh/re-do after over 6 years! I actually struggled to get it off, but then I used my heat gun and it softened the adhesive where I could pull it up..No residue...While it was down, I had no tears, no lifting and it wore like iron...I cook regularly and I am always in the kitchen doing something. I have found no other that can stand up to this...I am a diyer and I try everything..It is a little more expensive than the rest, but it's really worth it..it is thick. The brand featured here I bought and was instantly disappointed....too thin
I've never had a problem with my marble contact paper. I have the exact same paper as you. I've spilled coffee, egg yolks, and recently marinara sauce. I wipe up spills immediately with a damp cloth and Clorox cleanup spray for bathrooms. My relatives had no idea that my countertops weren't real marble until I told them.. 😄
I own my home but I still like the idea of using the contact paper. Since I do own my home I could glue down any areas that don't want to stick. My counters are flat and dont have a backsplash area and I noticed that's where yours doesn't want to stay down.
I fitted Ribbeck Oak contact paper to my kitchen worktops yesterday (I'm in UK). It looks fantastic as does yours 👌🏻 Glad to know it's durable long-term. Thank you.
Next time you get a little stain, try whitening toothpaste to remove it. Just cover the stain with a thick layer of the toothpaste and let it sit for an hour or 2. I have used whitening toothpaste on some of the toughest stains and it always works for me!
If you got year out of it that is good amount of time just for contact paper. I say that gives you a good chance to update your counter top in another color for a refresh as long as matches cabinets and back splash.
A little super glue will most likely hold down the torn part and also the corner that is coming up...or maybe contact cement if you're concerned about the counters underneath the contact paper. You could add just a bit of clear nail polish over those areas for extra protection as well. Enjoyed your informative video. Thanks
I just discovered you a couple of days ago, and have been hooked! Since quarantine I have been doing several projects around my apartment and now I have added the kitchen to the list, thanks to you! Keep up the amazing videos!
Not sure what kind of flowers you got but it sounds like lily pollen! It is definitely very very stubborn, but when I worked in a flower shop I would just saturate whatever the lily pollen stained in cleaner for about 10 minutes and scrubbed hard.
I think it looks great after a year. I'm going to try this contact paper to cover my countertops in our rental. Thanks for always sharing all your level-up renter-friendly tips and tricks.
I used this contact paper when i remodeled my house before we sold it. Had to tell everyone it was just contact paper not real stone. Love love love this product!
Last year I also put this product down after watching her great video but I wanna tell you what I did I took some of the extra Peel and stick and put an extra piece on every corner and it is held up and cushion my corners this is a great product and I have great grandkids that love to cook in my kitchen
If you haven't gotten up the yellow spots, or you haven't replaced that spot, I suggest Goof Off. Not Goo Gone which is oil based, but real Goof Off which is acetone based. I've mistakenly used it on soft-ish plastic which it kinda melts, so as all the products say, test in an inconspicuous area. I've used it on regular contact paper before without problems. Another suggestion that may, or may not work for the spot that won't stay down is rubber cement. I swear by that stuff! It won't harm your counters and might help it being held. I actually used rubber cement on the inside of my cabinets with shelf liner, peels off without problem. FYI I've also used it on the back of my Mom's tablet with gripping shelf liner so it's easier for her to hold. 😁
A way to almost seal the paper is a couple of coats of clear harden nail polish (Sally Hansen Hard As Nails) works good. A great idea to change your tile is epoxy. I did my small half bathroom from 1960s yellow square tile to white for $25 including roller (foam roller Rust-Oleum appliance epoxy)
I absolutely love your videos. I have a much older house and a small galley kitchen with as much counter space as the apartment kitchen and decided to buy this contact paper to update my kitchen next month. I got the exact same one you did. However I have a question. In watching your videos how do I get the paper to align properly at the back of the sink and sides of the stove? I'm buying the scraper and exacto knife but I want mine to be as seamless as your s and I've never done anything like this. Please tell me again how to do this along the back and sides. Oh does it matter which caulk I choose? , Any recommmendations?
Wow this is great been wanting to redo my counter tops and Don't have the money to do it the way ID like to so this is perfect and if it messes up just peel and redo, thank you so much.
FIRST!!! I’ve always wanted to say that. P.S. the contact paper looks absolutely amazing after a year. You’ve inspired me to fix my ugly apartment so that I can love the space I’m in. I’ve ordered the contact paper and the dish soap bottle. I’m heading to target tomorrow to pick up your same over the cabinet door rack thingy. Thanks a bunch Wayna!❤️
Wow I remember the install of this contract paper. This held up well. Next time you have a stain try using white vinegar. It usually works well for removing stains.
@@hausofrlateish throughout the years I've learned a bit here and there... also drinking a glass full of (lukewarm) water with a half teaspoon of baking soda followed by a lukewarm glass of water with lemon, will clean your inside.. super healthy too and will bring yr ph level to the right height xoxo from the netherlands

I've you silicone around a sink .first clean area of dirt and grease. Next apply sealent around area. Next wet area with soap and water. Next run finger over sealent. As you can see the sealent will not go over the wet area making it stay wear you want it to be.

The stamens! Yes they will totally stain they are horrible. Actually florists are supposed to remove them for that reason. If you buy lilies and some are closed, once they open up remove those suckers! They will eventually let go and fall, staining whats underneath (table cloth, table, clothes etc.)
Question!! Can you use contact paper or peel and stick mosaic in a rental shower? Very interested in trying it. I was wondering how it holds up and how the removal will go after a year or so.
I’m currently binge watching your videos as I get ready to update my bathroom! I think I’m going to use the contact paper. Yours has held up well and looks great!
Couple tips before you put paper down wipe surface with Rubbing Alcohol and shouldn't have any issues with paper not sticking. If you do have a problem get some Gorrila Glue Spray Adhesive problem solved! It may leave a little sticky residue but nothing a little Goof Off won't take off in a few sec or even Rubbing Alcohol usually does the trick! Overall great video.
my bathroom sink is white tile and I hate it want to put a counter/vanity top that looks exactly like the contact paper you have above in video, hubby says to much work breaking up the tile and replacing, so was thinking how can I i get the look could I use paint etc, well I happened on this video and love the simple low cost of replacing,,Our tile has tiny grout lines so wondering how that would work...would love to win ,,,sadly dont have 3 friends to tag so good luck to all that can enter,,,Thank you for the idea and info, Have a safe and rewarding week

I would love more information about the walls in your kitchen! Is it just wallpaper? I have been considering that or peel n stick backsplash but I’m worried the backsplash will damage the paint. I’m a renter!
So glad you did this review. I think it looks great for a year and daily use. I’m definitely going to use this contact paper. BTW your white tile with black grout looks great.
Low my sister, I to contact my kitchen counter as well as the backsplash, I did mines in the granite look and when I got a little tear in my countertop a little like yours I did have leftover paper I cut a little strip and I laid it across the top of the tear and it Blended in so well if I don't show you where I replaced it you would not see it you can do the same thing for that little corner that has the little split that you pointed out hope it work as well for you as it did for me. Tanya Anderson I don’t. I put down my hot pot holder things then place the hot pot on that. But I wouldn’t put a hot pot on the counter either 🤷🏽♀️

You can always buy corner guards for the corners.
I heard if you use epoxy on top of it, it would harden and give it a shine as well.
Were they Lillies? That pollen stains everything so it’s normal to cut the stamens off when you get them.
For the countertop, you could put some gold contact paper on the edges to seal them. They could look like fancy edges.
I love that basket you have your water in. Where did you get it?
I love it too.. I watched all her videos to see if she mentioned it but I didn't hear anything about it 😔.
