I really wish they would remake Beauty and the Beast for todays times and rewrite the last season. I feel the last season robbed the charaters of their deserving Happily Ever After. I know there are alot of fans that can write the last season better than what was written. I was 12 when I started watching and this show made me believe in the impossiable, in hopes and dreams being able to come true. I felt really let down when Catherine died in the show, I felt like the writers let the magic die.
Yes, I agree, most of the magic definitely died with Catherine, but seeing Vincent keep their love and her memory alive while searching for their child, which rang true to the “foreverness” of their bond, kept me watching until I could no longer ignore the fact that the new Diana character was meant to be the new beauty (!) She was already filling out the roles of Catherine in relation to some of the subsidiary characters, and for me the magic, romance, appeal AND credibility of the show would be completely lost had Vincent been able to replace Catherine with the first new woman that crossed his path. That went against the whole premise of romantic and gothic love, their poetry and their promises of eternity. Had I seen that play out, it would have ruined season 1 and 2 for me as well. I have therefore never watched the three final episodes of season 3, as I felt the betrayal of Cathrine, the fans, and Vincent as a character creep closer. That was more painful to watch than Catherine's death on that rooftop! I guess my point is that, as sad as it may be - and it really was heart-wrenching - to see Catherine die, it may have been the best choice under the circumstances when apparently the decision to have half s season more seemed to have been made. To close their storyline in a different way with having Catherine leave voluntarily (to go fight crime in another country or whatever) would also have been a betrayal - equal to that of bringing in a new love interest for Vincent. The baby arc, however forced and jump the shark-like it was carried out, and the long and painful goodbye to Catherine at least still touched the heart and allowed for a will-o'-the-wisp for a few more episodes. Kudos to Perlman for that - can't have been easy. There can only be one beauty in that tale. In my opinion it would have been more true to the story to recast and replace Linda Hamilton with another actress playing Catherine Chandler if the show had to go on, but I don’t see that playing out well either. That would almost certainly also have killed the magic - just in a different way. Chemistry like that which Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton had on-screen was rare and magical in itself.
B&B the best gift of all - love, respect, understanding and knowledge beyond what we could ever have expected. We shall never see the likes of this again. Still moves me after 20 years.
I was truly moved, hearing them talk about their characters and what they can represent for us spectators. Special people and actors, they are always in my heart. I love them, especially together ❤️❤️❤️❤️ C&V Linda and Ron ❤️❤️
I adored this show when it was 1st shown. Never saw or don't remember this interview of Linda and Ron in their salad days. I am re-watching (streaming) the series on Paramount. The magic moments are still there thanks to their acting. Thanks for posting.
I just recently fell in love with this series on the Chiller marathons and you know what i would never want it redone because they really would just butcher it! They should have just ended it with season 2 and made a farewell episode with everyone getting their true happily ever after.
I still watch the show on UHF syndicated TV I love it over and over again and again.... It's like watching It's A Wonderful Life every Christmas season.👍
She wasn't supposed to replace Linda. What Vincent needed was a good friend with connections in the upper world. If anyone was noticing, Diana fell in love with Vincent. But the series was canceled. End of story .
I agree about losing the magic. I can think several ideas just off the top of my head that would have been better than what they wrote. Many of us have come to the conclusion though that 3S was a bad dream, Vincent's horrible fever nightmare, and there's precedent for that in Remember Love and Down to a Sunless Sea. I don't think I want a remake though. I just know they'd screw it up - unless we could get a movie that fans wrote with a director like maybe Peter Jackson, who gets these things.
AMEN!!! I agree with you and that is my main problem with some of the TV shows of today, I mean I love Heroes and Law&Order SVU but there isn't any romance on screen like there was when BATB were on. Tis a shame

@ladyserenityrain I had seen an interview where they had asked Linda why she left the show and she said that the script writters wouldn't move the relationship along and she was not looking forward to another season of running for her life, getting kidnaped, almost revealing the tunnel world to those above and after all of that never getting to have a "real" relationship with Vincent. The script writers said that they didn't believe that the audiance would want to see something like that!

They didn't, they sold the series and placed it on a different night, so she got out of the contract early. I agree with her that the series would have people lose interest if the relationship didnt move further along.

Not quite. After BATB's producers turned down CBS's offer of Saturday night, CBS dropped BATB from the fall schedule and instead picked it up for only a half season. This change in terms was sufficient to give Linda a legal exit from her contract. She never wanted to do a tv show - only did the pilot because it was such an excellent script and she didn't think it had a snowball's chance in hell of getting picked up. So we got 3S.

@ladyserenityrain She kept fighting the script writers but when there was no sign of them changing their minds and they moved the show to a different night she got out of her contract, she only had to work on B&B two days a week and was planning to do terminator the other days until the season ended and then continue with a fourth and final season, she said she didn't think the tv series would pick up and she didn't want to do it at first, but she likes to start what she finishes.

omg. i just realized Moe Sizlak must have been modeled upon Ron Perlman. i'm a long time fan of both. "i used2 box under the name Kid Gorgeous then..." i love it just lost my DVD copy of Beauty and the Beast. and i I wish more people were watching it 30 years later. it pisses me off when little kids know about Freddy Krueger but more so when I realize they don't know about Vincent or slice you up with a samurai sword Buddy Holly. hope is illusory even non-existent if you can only get it through the TV or the phone or upon the moment of death or through someone's wallet.
I agree. Whenever I would go to a flea market or yard sale, I always looked for B & B DVD. One day I was at WalMart and found seasons 1 & 2. Then I found season 3 on Ebay (also Amazon). I am loving it all over again and just found the clips of Linda & Ron on UA-cam. I read many reviews on Ebay or Amazon before I decided to buy it not sure if I could handle the change. I got convinced I needed to see it in it's entirety since originally had missed some of the 3rd. season. I just finished the 1st season and I am enthralled again w/the love story. Everybody who liked it should buy the DVD.
@LandoftheShanks I don't go to a movie to see lovely dove but I don't go to see harsh reality I go to have a sense of something better, someone who rises above hardships and obstacles to have a bit of happiness. I go to see a piece of hope, and if I can't get that I feel that the entertainment acspect of the movie has failed. That was the opinion I was expressing two years ago. They are writting b/c it's their dream to be writers of books or writers for scripts of tv shows and movies. They are alot that can't write also, but you can tell within the first two paragraphs who they are, they may not be good writters but sometimes they have great ideas.
What I find interesting is what Linda has to say about the show as a whole ... yet she is the one who wanted to and did leave the show because she got "bored" with it ... after she left, the heart of the show died. It should have stopped right there. While Season 3 took on a completely different story line, it wasn't the same anymore.
At the time she left the show, she was married to Bruce Abbott (father of her first child). She wasn't married to James Cameron until 1997 (but had her second child by him in 1993).

The reason they stopped the show was because Lisa was pregnant and wanted to be a full time mom.
This looks like The Morning Program in 1987 or so with hosts Mariette Hartley and Rolland Smith, not positive.
