It's kinda like watching kids see their tough friend get his ass kicked by a kid who kick boxes for fun.
They don't understand what you and I know. The kids have built up an impression of their friend that doesn't exist, but any adult sees that the kid who boxes for fun is gonna whoop the the kid acting tough, not by merit but through actual craft.
Ngl I think it hits harder for Drake to lose to Kendrick than losing to Pusha T. Kendrick is his actual peer and direct competitor, they blew up around the same time and constantly compared to one another while Push is still the dude Drake looked up to as a kid and someone who's literally like 10 years older than him. He was never going to lose his #1 spot and the recognition that came w it in that battle with Push but Kendrick has the power and popularity to at least compete with him on that level and legitimately outsell him.
Drake blew up way before Kendrick but I agree in terms of Kendrick being able to compete against Drake unlike pusha but Kendrick is definitely not outselling him

Y’all gotta stop that “Drake makes better music than Kendrick” nonsense. It’s all subjective. I think the opposite. I enjoy Kendrick’s music way more than I do Drake’s. And I dig some of Drake’s stuff but it doesn’t appeal to my artistic and spiritual tastes the way Kendrick’s does.
@@lexio9913 it’s a brick TO YOU. Consistency means less if you’re just churning out content without signs of artistic growth - if it’s just about staying on the charts. Again, it’s subjective. I tuned Drake out many times for the things I couldn’t tap in with, but some of yall loved it.
IMO, Kendrick’s bar was set high enough that a ‘disappointing’ album still retains value as people discover the theme, intent, and grow with it if it winds up being appreciated by them. So I wound up liking a lot of that album. 🤷🏽♂️

NOONE wants to hear Drake for his voice or his lyricism. They love him cause his music makes you feel good. That's it. That's the reason.
So when people say he's better than or bigger than Kendrick I laugh because they use the sales and streams argument. He's not a better lyricist than Kendrick and he doesn't have a voice that is more culturally significant and as powerful as Kendrick's. The proof is in the pudding.
When you are culturally as significant as Kendrick , Jay Z , Nas , even Eminem , you can touch controversial and sensitive subjects in your music and still have people bump their heads. DRAKE CAN'T DO THAT.

Drake will always be ahead of Drake because of the impact he had on the culture. Drake has been carrying hip hop for 15 years. Whole Kendrick would drop once in a while just to drop so called classics. People just love to associate any album that Kendrick drops as a classic but when you look at the charts you mostly see Drake albums. The only Kendrick album that you consistently see on the charts is GKMC while Drake consistently has 5 albums on the charts which aren't so called classics but people are always playing them
Winning the head to head is great for his resume but it's not good enough to claim top spot because he didn't do much in these last 8 years.
