I could not stop watching the documentary, it is so well done. The feeling of nostalgia, learning things you didn't know, remembering how good Becks was... but it was hard to watch the abuse he had to endure. I had no idea it was this serious. I am Turkish, I remember my dad watching "the game" and saying "poor boy fell right in to the trap. English fans will destroy him." As a kid didn't understand him. Now I do. Can't even imagine what would have happened if social media existed back then.
Everybody is sharing the same feeling... I had seen the ad on Netflix about this series many times and I was like - I remember him, nothing much about him that I could possibly be interested in --- until I read somewhere this morning that this documentary is the most watched show on Netflix globally ever... So, I´m glad I checked it out and loved it!!! wow!!!1
I had not one clue about "football" in Europe. This documentary was absolutely fantastic. I cried at least 3 times. I love the focus of how important it is to have other men who support you in your life. Yes, David was very clear about his love for his entire family and their love for him, but I came away away with an appreciation of the men in his life, his father, his teammates, managers, friends. This is a beautiful tribute to the true nature of men and I loved it xx
Yes Football is like religion here he was God it’s a shame how he was treated after the red card because he tried his best for England. But Posh made him into a brand so he did well even after football
Fellow men are the only ones that can truly accept your vulnerability and see you as an equal. Everyone else wants to look up to you, your wife included. She'll lose respect and attraction for you if she sees you express too much weakness.
Netflix did a great job with the Beckham documentary. I was shocked at the brutal treatment that David received from his fans, especially the Brits. He was, and still is an amazing athlete.
He truly deserves this documentary, and I'm surprised it took this long for him to get it. His brand isn't underrated but his skills certainly are, a true powerhouse. Can't wait to watch!
@@wbalkhair7369 You're right! They've been putting him in a box his whole career, especially after his marriage to Victoria. Being pretty does come with its own disadvantages lol.
@dgc5249 Have you lost respect for every footballer/coach/manager that has gone to Saudi? Beckham received a lot of abuse, yet other than Henderson, the others like Gerrard have hardly been talked about. Xavi was a manager in Qatar, received no backlash. Funny how that happens.
Ive finished watching this, and i can tell you, it was absolute worth to watch. His journey as football player, his determination and motivation can be example to us. He’s trully a legend.
What, most of you from the gay community? Normal fans watched the premier league because of quality football and great derbies and rivalries. Beckham was good player but not at the level of elite players from that era. Media made him some kind of a pop star and brought the most annoying fans into the sport. Just like today with Messi Ronaldo news. At least they are elite players, but their fanboys are just unbearable. Like the Beckham fans.
What a superb docuseries! I did not want it to end. David Beckham was a fantastic football player and such a good person who loved his family. Best docuseries I have seen on Netflex in quite a while.
Storyline. David Beckham, a household name, footballing icon and at one point the most hated man in England. A comprehensive look at David Beckham's footballing career focusing on his England redemption, World Cup dreams, trial by media and becoming brand Becks.
When he left Man U, I left too. What a great footballer he was. Heartbreaking to watch back how the fans turned on him and abused him for a long period of time. How he coped …. But I’m proud of him and his legacy.🙏🏽❤️
Absolutely correct, those people are keyboard cowards now I bet, and I’m glad they showed their faces so the world can see who the bullies are , bet they are rightfully ashamed . David was utterly brilliant player.
I've never seen passes more beautiful and accurate than his, no matter where his teammates were, he delivered the ball to them. and the free kicks, pure magic.
@@vantagev8331There have been many players who could pass better than Beckham, Scholes was better than him. There have been many better than Hoddle, but that wasn't the point. He's probably talking about crosses, Beckham was far better than Hoddle at crossing, but again, that's not the point. The point is, it's who he saw, not someone he didn't see who was better.
I agree. That England game against Greece with that now infamous free kick was nothing short of magical. It wasn't just the free kick - you watch in the 20 minutes before that free kick, and Beckham realises that we needed to get the points in order to qualify and he literally becomes a one-man machine, chasing all over the pitch and literally almost playing the game by himself! One thing is for sure - that man had talent, but he also had a damn good work ethic!
Liverpool supporter here... and I love this bloke! Top top player and a really nice human being. Fragile, flawed but what spirit and love he has shown! National treasure.
His good looks overshadowed what a world class footballer he was. Beckham was world class as a right midfielder and central midfielder. One of the best passers of the ball in any situation the game has ever seen, was great at tracking back and helping out the defense, linked up intelligently in midfield with quick short passes, and was a big game player (scored on the final day of the PL in 1999, scored vs Arsenal in the 1999 FA Cup semi-final replay, scored the free kick vs Greece in 2002 to take England to the World Cup, and delivered the two assists that sealed the Treble for United in 1999). An absolute legend.
@@Mjr47 agreed, Sheringham got the assist for the winner and Giggs got the assist for the 1st goal, but Beckham’s corners were pinpoint in the most pressure situation and it caused commotion in the Bayern box and led to the two goals that sealed the treble.
Just finished this and honestly it’s so emotional. They came across as such a lovely down to earth family at the end. What an amazing series. And after all this time, David comes across so well. And he will go down in history as an icon. Absolutely loved it!
Ive never been a fan of Beckham, but after watching this I found a new respect for the guy. I never realised what a brilliant footballer he was. The documentary is very well done and I admire his openness in it.
Victoria was out here in a marriage all by herself! Respect to her for holding the household down, because I know for a fact Morden women would have called it a day and taken half. Just goes to show how powerful propaganda can be! For so many years I had the wrong impression of who Victoria Beckham was! This documentary completely changed my mind. Much respect! 👏🏾❤️
Uh V had millions of dollars to support the family and hired help. He career ended in late 90s. She rode David coat tails. Nothing strong about ordering Uber eats and having Nannie’s, give me a break. They are an elite couple have a private jet. Seriously
People dont realise how good beckham really was he literally won games on his own.. 1 of a kind type of player with a right foot we will be lucky if we ever see again 👌
How many guys in the Premier League or any league in this season of 23/24 can assist the striker like Beckham. Ruud, Cole, Yorke, Ole, Raul,R9 got the ball on a plate for them to finish their dinner for goals.

What a remarkable man David Beckham is ! I was born & bred in Manchester! a City fan & wasn’t living in Uk at this time, I live in Australia 🇦🇺 I was absolutely shocked watching the Netflix documentary, the way David was treated, by his own father, Alex Ferguson, Glen Hoddle & The press ,TV ect ! But most importantly the English People ! I’ve alway been proud & protective of England 🏴 but i cried, after watching the documentary! I thought no wonder David has OCD. As a child his father made him practice football relentlessly until David got it right no matter what!He never praised him & getting annoyed, when he got it wrong ! He was a littler boy! Then there was Ferguson ! who wouldn’t speak to him after matches when United lost! when he did brilliantly he didn’t praise his either! We all saw it! Ferguson kicked a boot into David’s face & said he did something to make the cut look worse & never apologising! ( No wonder David has a compulsive disorder) It didn’t matter how brilliant he played, these people were never there satisfied or wasn’t there to protect him ! And what a nasty piece of work Hoddle was ! David was playing his heart out when he was fowled, everyone at that match could clearly see it,David retaliated as many players have & do only to get a red card ! all hell let loose & blamed him for the loss! Was it the responsibility of David to win the match on his own,I don’t think so ! All those people including managers Ferguson & Hoddle should be ashamed of themselves, for not protecting a brilliant footballer & fellow countryman! At his time of need! today he’s still absolutely gutted over the treatment & accusations that was thrown at him ! But you know what he’s a better man than any of the accusers will ever be & all have to live with themselves for what they did to him! In their eye’s he couldn’t do right for wrong 😑 Good luck to David ,Victoria & family 🥰💕 I was a privilege to watch your wonderful documentary ! The world needed to know how brilliant young sportsmen are treated by managers !
Sadly many of these superstars had to endure dysfunction to get to where they are. It's tough love in some instances and in others it is living vicariously through somebody else and reflecting your own failures on their success. I am glad that he turned out well and was given the opportunity with a supportive spouse in Victoria, to be greater than he ever imagined.
This is the comment i was looking for .. the fans ,managers and your country how can they depend on one player!!!and if that player makes little mistake you make that player’s life hell. WTF
I've never been a football fan, but this is brilliant!! What an amazing story! Watching this, I remember all the madness of the 90s and all the press coverage not only here in the UK, but across the world. The strength of character of both David and Victoria is truly incredible and so very inspiring. ❤
For us Brazilians, the fiasco of the 98 World Cup and how the Brazilian players behaved in that last match with France is still discussed to this day as to whether the Brazilians were bribed to lose... the players were not even running... They said it was because of the shock of seeing Ronaldo getting sick right before the beginning of the match, hum... who knows... it was just weird... England lost because the team lost the penalty kicks, but Beckman got the blame..
The new generation don’t understand just how big Becks was back in the day. Not only was he a brilliant and very underrated player but he was a cultural icon. I remember myself and other kids copying all his hairstyles. He was the football player who transcended the sport.
Even if they don't. A lot of them are going to watch the documentary and even if they don't care about the becks, there were definitely a lot of people called out in the Doc. All I'm going to say is that West Ham and a lot of other people are going to be very unpopular for a while. XD If it gets enough push on social media, it's really going to suck for any West Ham supporters or Glenn Hoddle. LMAO Not sure about the other guys though.
Back in the 1990's I was a fanatical Man Utd supporter, my life was based around watching them. I adored David Beckham as a boy and I felt very protective over him as a Man Utd supporter after France 98. In fact his treatment by English supporters and the media made me turn on the England football team and I've never felt the same about them since. He still comes across as very modest despite all his achievements in the game and commercial success off the pitch. Nothing but respect for David Beckham. I'm just sad it ended the way it did at Man Utd. He'll always be a Man Utd legend.
What a wonderful documentary! Really highlights the sacrifices and perseverance in being a professional football player. I really admire Victoria Beckham for keeping the family together through all the moves for David Beckham's career. I love the couple's honesty and working ethics! Thank you Netflix for this hearwarming journey!
I think the thing I like most about him is just how much of a decent person he clearly is. A properly talented footballer and equally wonderful role model. Looking forward to this one!
@@LaChicaconSuerte-1111so what? Cheating on your wife is the straw that breaks the camels back ? Out of all the achievements, sacrifices and good deeds a person has done ?
No. The point is that he says the stories were horrible. The stories may have been horrible, but they were not untrue. He is talking as if he didn´t actually cheat on his wife and as if these stories were all made up, but he did cheat on his wife. And that is what caused all the pain. @@nlocnil3602
He can´t deny it because he did actual cheat on Victoria with other women. He tried to get the court to grant a super injunction on a newspaper to prevent them from publishing a story about his affair with some girl, but it wasn´t granted because....well, why could that be....because he couldn´t deny it did actually happen....And he´s never actually denied cheating because then he would be lying...all he can do is say the stories were horrible and that they affected him and Victoria, which they did, but due to his own infidelity...@@JamesSmith-cm7sg
My goodness, this absolute legend was an icon on and off the field. We'd watch his games no matter what and we're in IRAN!!! That's how amazing he played ❤
What a beautiful soul! I had no idea Beckham went through such an ordeal. Brought tears into my eyes and made me angry. Shame to all of you who created this reality for him. ❤ D.B.
England be very proud. I’m not ethically English but I am English as I grew up here and growing up watching becks was incredible, he was inspirational, he was a role model and he stood for everything that this great country is all about.
Never thought I would have said it, but Victoria was a saint to put up with the affair and continued upheaval of family and home for his career. Glad they made it through and are now enjoying the rewards. ❤
He treaded her like garbage. And she’s the catch in the relationship she’s the one with the brains and personality. Most interviews where David’s speaks it seems like he can’t even spell his own name he comes off so dumb
He’s probably THE reason i became a United supporter. Everybody was influenced by his style of play, the crosses, the technic on the freekicks, we wanted to wear the same boots as him, some even had the hairstyle. He was brilliant..
I was a right mid, the corner and free kicker as a young boy and I copied his style. Never was as good but I was always a top player. Amazing how icons can influence you 😅
Never been a football fan but this is a documentary I want to see... for the individual's journey, talent, obstacles and personal growth. I've come to admire David Beckham starting the day he walked and waited through the entire queue for The Queen.
becks is one of the greatest footballers that has even lived. He was a genius on the pitch like Cantona & all the other greats. I love David & Victoria's attitude to family & think they are great role models.
I have been a fan of both David and Victoria Beckham for years! I have been a fan of both of them before they were married. Thank you for showing the world true what true love is truly about. People get married and they are willing to throw in the towel just because they are not happy. Marriage is a lot more than that. It’s dealing with the good the bad and they ugly and getting on the other side of that. Thank you Victoria for being such an inspiration for so many women all over the world of being a women mom and wife and having your own businesses. Thank you David for being such a great guy showing your flaws because no body is perfect. Inspiring other men on what being a husband and a father and a professional athlete was all about. Def one of the best documentary’s I have seen in a while. After watching this I gained so much more respect for David. I’m saddened by how he was treated by the public after a silly mistake in the World Cup. Glad he pressed on that would have driven many to suicide
Just watched the first episode, it was a great watch and it’s insane how the media done him like that. Embarrassing. English Media hasn’t changed to this day either.
I was hooked the minute I started watching this. Went to bed at 4.00 I think . To see how this country treated this boy , for a split second silly mistake , it’s shameful !!! . Even now you can see in his face the trauma the way this country treated him . Thank you David I really enjoyed it .
I was never a fan, not of David or Victoria… but I just watched this doco from start to finish and I absolutely fell inlove with both of them. Incredible people. Beautiful family. That was well done and I thoroughly enjoyed learning about this magical human.
This was such an inspiring documentary! I mean, the way he was bullied and he carried on, wow. It shows how he could have given up, commit suicide, think that his life was over. But overcoming it he actually got the best life, and so many happy victorious moments. What an inspiration for us all not to give up at our darkest moment!
You should be ashamed, England! It's unbelievable what he had to go through. What an admirable man! What an remarkable woman, and what a wonderful family they have created together! I wish them endless love and happiness! ❤
He is incredibly underrated despite his amazing talent on the field. He was definitely one of the best passers in the world if not of all time, effortlessly creating chances for his team. And his free kicks were not just good, they were outstanding. Despite the criticism he received, many dedicated Manchester United fans proudly support him. Even in the face of negativity, our adoration for him remains unwavering.
For me his comeback story with England fans was the best I've seen. I watched that game against Greece. I was jumping like an idiot at home my father was furious with me considering we are from Croatia. One of my favourite players from that time. He was so good but his life outside football made people forget that.
Fantastic, what a humble, hard working, talented man with a lovely supportive wife. The hate he had to endure after his world cup mistake when he was only 23. No care for his mental health. After watching this I have so much respect for David and Victoria. Dumbo Harry and his awful wife could learn a lot from these two instead of constantly whining and treating their families so badly.
What a strong and intelligent man. We used to make fun of him with his little inarticulate voice and that all he could do was kick a ball and be pretty. I am in awe of what he's achieved over the years, then comes Miami - he's a visionary. This documentary has also educated me about a strong couple who value hard work and family. Fair play to you David. You really deserve Legend status. ❤ Fair play to Victoria too.
What a beautiful documentary! It is full of love, amazing lessons for everyone and from everyone involved in the story! Beckham, you are an example of humbleness, dignity and integrity. Thank you for sharing this with us and for always putting your heart on everything you did as a professional! I had the opportunity to meet Beckham in Café Havana, a restaurant in Malibu, CA. I was with a group of students and he accepted in a very sweet way, to take a picture with us. Incredibly simple human being!
What a shy, handsome, determined man. Absolutely loved his grit and love of his sport. Wonderfully made series! His love story with his wife is so touching.
This was an excellent docuseries. I have so much more respect for David Beckham, I never realized how great a footballer he truly was. He is lovely with his children and wife. They are a beautiful family. I wish them well.
This guy is underestimated a lot. His skills were brilliant, great football IQ, phenomenal free kicks , pin point accurate long passes, hard but fair tackling. People just remember his hair style and stuff, but football wise he was incredibly good.
One of my favourite Utd players of all time. Just watch how much he runs in a game, never ever gave up. Proved so many wrong who laughed at his lack of education and squeaky voice.
He totally shut them up with his popularity. He's the most followed retired footballers in social media. Maybe even the most followed retire athletes in social media currently.
Watching this docu...made me realise whether you're rich or poor famous or not we all have our trials and tribulations. And David and Victoria have had their fair to contend with both professionally and privately. I have reevaluated my opinion of them of their success because watching this ...they have had to work hard for it!! So good luck to them.

Did it, tho? I think both were perfectly balanced. Those passes, not to mention his free kicks. His skill will forever be memorable.
I think you are spot on about the 'comradery' that male friendship is about. I think football is the one sport that ultimately is about comradery.
Soccer in Europe is even worse than in Latin America which is already bad, think fanatic religious people...
Fellow men are the only ones that can truly accept your vulnerability and see you as an equal. Everyone else wants to look up to you, your wife included. She'll lose respect and attraction for you if she sees you express too much weakness.
Thank you for this comment ❤️
Netflix did a great job with the Beckham documentary. I was shocked at the brutal treatment that David received from his fans, especially the Brits. He was, and still is an amazing athlete.
He truly deserves this documentary, and I'm surprised it took this long for him to get it. His brand isn't underrated but his skills certainly are, a true powerhouse. Can't wait to watch!

I've never seen passes more beautiful and accurate than his, no matter where his teammates were, he delivered the ball to them. and the free kicks, pure magic.
Glenn Hoddle was far better.

@@Mjr47 agreed, Sheringham got the assist for the winner and Giggs got the assist for the 1st goal, but Beckham’s corners were pinpoint in the most pressure situation and it caused commotion in the Bayern box and led to the two goals that sealed the treble.

What a remarkable man David Beckham is !
I was born & bred in Manchester! a City fan & wasn’t living in Uk at this time, I live in Australia 🇦🇺
I was absolutely shocked watching the Netflix documentary, the way David was treated, by his own father, Alex Ferguson, Glen Hoddle & The press ,TV ect !
( No wonder David has a compulsive disorder)
It didn’t matter how brilliant he played, these people were never there satisfied or wasn’t there to protect him !
In their eye’s he couldn’t do right for wrong 😑
Good luck to David ,Victoria & family 🥰💕
I was a privilege to watch your wonderful documentary !
WTF

Absolutely staggering how vile some of the public were towards him. Completely unjustified.

Not sure about the other guys though.
This is a documentary i'll definitely watch. Beckham was and is an absolute legend with a very real story to tell.
