- 6" e-Readers seem to be on their way out as more and more consumers and manufacturers opt for larger screen devices.
Pocketbook is capping off the BASIC LUX line with the 4th generation.
It has a touch screen and a glowlight (no warm light)
Check it out and let us know what you think!

Microusb in 2023 IS a crime :)
I have resisted e-readers ever since I saw them back in the mid 10’s on the bus. My curiosity has peaked from time to time and I was actually waiting to see if there was gonna be a new oasis. I didn’t realize Amazon was so locked up before investigating pocketbooks, nor did I realize sideloading was that simple. I do know one thing, weight is king- with any electronic. I’m forty and I’m glad to say this will be my first and it’s a step in the direction to step away from videos and distractions. Readings real entertainment, you can never feel cheated or it a waste of time unless you’ve just stuck it out with a lousy book.
I carry a 2022 Kindle in my back pocket every day, and before that it was an Onyx Boox Poke 3 -- both of which I bought exclusively due to the small size. I have other e-ink devices, but none that I can carry with me all of the time.
Agreed. My 6" Paperwhite (w/4g that I love!) lives in my purse. I don't leave home without it. I've got other bigger e-readers but none so handy as my 6" Paperwhite.
Thanks for review, is it common to have kind of burned pixel(s) on this display?
I hate the go back button in the bottom left when you rapidly turn pages, you can't disable it and it doesn't go away until you click on it.
It looks like a rebadged Touch Lux 5. Last year's advanced model is this year's basic now. Still happy that it's very accessible.
Well, they still have the touch lux five. But yeah, everything's crossing over with each other
beautiful button controls... if they could implement a bigger battery, keep the snake game, and add a new one, for example, Tetris - I would buy it :D
does it fit in the pocket?
How easy is it to side load the books?
From what I’ve read it’s one of the most friendly readers for all the different formats.
Seems much faster than my Kindle Paperwhite 2021
Can I send my substack newsletters to it?
I hope not, they are the only ones I can easily hold with one hand
Amazon has gravitated 75% of their lineup away from 6-in
Barnes & Noble's latest release is not a 6-in
Companies like remarkable, big me, super note, fujitsu, philips, king Jim , and countless others don't even MAKE 6".
And although e-paper itself is an ever-growing industry, the idea of a small 6-in ebook reader, is dwindling by the day
I think 6 inch E-readers will be very much alive until Amazon, Kobo and Barnes and Noble say otherwise. Personally, I think we should move on, but they’re surely still selling a lot of them.
Well, both Amazon and Barnes & Noble have navigated away from 6 in as of recent,
75% of Amazon's lineup are not 6"
@@goodereader The 6 inch models are still available from Barnes and Noble’s website though. And I would think that the cheapest Kindle is probably still selling quite well. Maybe the Paperwhite is the top selling one. I’m not sure. But they wouldn’t still be selling the basic model if people weren’t buying it.
@@goodereader that doesn't make their 6' not one of their best selling devices.
6 inch is so perfect but all good things have to die
why does it keep twitching
Ok, fine! Let 6.8" be the basic, but narrow down the side bezels for gah's sake!
I can accept 6 inch ereaders dying but if they go after 8 inch models, its going to be hard to justify.
If they want to do away with the 6-inch ones, at most they can switch to the 7-inch models as their base screen. E-readers must be very portable
All my books are. .pdf
So.. this is not good for mee
Noooohp
:)
Fujitsu does pdf only.
It should still support them
Wait what? Not good for pdf? I also have all books in pdf and need a reader for pdf's.
