Very useful information, thank you!
We just switched over and company is growing. I have been doing separate investments into tech stocks. Goal is to get my dividends over my earned income. Then I will cash out my shares from my company
Actually, according to the IRS ESOP stands for Employee Stock Ownership Plan
If you're working three years vesting for three years at 100% employee-owned company, can you cash out your shares or what you paid in?
Usually only if the company is publicly traded. If not, you can usually only sell your shares if you get board approval, which is referred to as a board based ROFR decision, which stands for Right Of First Refusal.
We are going to have a meeting today about a possible isop program for the shop
Can I barrow money from my ESOP after the said certain amount of years??
If you quit does it void the transaction?
yes i belive
Depending on when you are fully vested. If you leave when you are fully vested yes.
Golden handcuffs... interesting.
If we just started with a esop 2 years ago and I'm about to switch jobs can I receive some payment now or is there a beginning period of wait?
This feels way too much like a pyramid scheme for my taste…
