We are on the right asumption, but we have the wrong conclusion. What is an Archon? The Guardian God and the ruler of a nation. What ir the Archon is composed of three beings. Furina, representing the Godly authority; Neuvillete, the authority over the land as the Hydro Sovereign, and the Oratrice, who has the Gnosis and it's the heart of Fontaine's justice system. It also makes sense when the idea of three Powers of the State started in France, the inspiration for Fontaine.

Could it be that while the Hydro archon was fighting in the Cataclysm way back and died, her nation Fontaine, was also facing its battle? Without their archon, Fontaine fell and lost as well. Then, Furina, the current archon was born in Fontaine after Egeria’s passing. She learned that everybody there have died and that she’s all alone. Maybe those were her tears (feelings) that we can still hear in the fountain of Lucine. Out of desperation and love for Fontaine, she revived everyone using the primordial sea waters, as oceanids. Everyone in Fontaine ARE oceanids. Fontainians are elemental beings, that’s why we can harvest their energy via the Oratrice to power the nation. Furina probably was cursed by Celestia for doing so, for interfering with what should have been (reviving the people).Celestia took her divine power and even her consciousness, but she was able to put her gnosis in the oratrice first so she can still guide and be able to fulfill her role as an archon, God of Justice even by means of becoming a machine. The current Furina probably is an empty shell of what Furina used to be, cursed by Celestia for all we know.
I used to think that the idea of people believe their Archon getting assassinated by someone during first act of Liyue Archon quest is dumb. But after this scene, maybe not so much.
I'd say it was still pretty dumb. The power difference between an original archon and a young one is probably very significant. Rex Lapis was a god killer during the archon war and Furina's archon status is questionable

Perhaps weaker than even Nahida, who have been: 1) locked away pretty much since her birth, and; 2) having the least followers of the Archons, and according to herself, an Archon's power is proportional to their country's religious faith in them. Very weird. I presume either Furina is too dumb to realize the power she holds, perhaps she is indeed cursed, or maybe Fontaine splits their religious faith with Neuvillette. Hypotheses, hypotheses... We will see where this leads.
It’s one those things where regular folk probably think “Well ur a god you should literally be unstoppable” which is why it was so perplexing for the people of Liyue that Morax “died” Luckily they had Ning /others of her rank to sorta be the new figurehead of the country so they were able to handle it better
It's still dumb because if she did, Arlecchino would have died along with Fontaine. Divine power unleashed when a god dies is not something a mortal coil can bear - Source Zhongli. Not to mention Venti's friend and others who killed Decarabian, died along with him.
She's really complex and I love that. There's more that meets the eyes to her than your avarage Archon being all mighty and divine. For all we know she could be a smart person who plays the idiot but yet have another smart mask.
Now that we have the context of Chapter IV Act V, is it any wonder why Furina was so traumatized? It wasn't that she almost died; it's that Arlecchino found out she was a fraud. And if word of that got out, the prophecy would be fulfilled and Fontaine would be destroyed. I actually want to see Furina try to get some revenge on Arlecchino. However, despite having a Hydro Vision now, Furina would probably still lose against the Knave. I could, though, see Arlecchino commending Furina for mustering up some courage since their last encounter.
I didn't read any of her voice lines, but by the main Story alone, assuming that her personality hasn't mixed with the act, I think that she is not someone who would hold grudges at all... In fact, she sounds like a really sweet person.
As a Fontainian, Arlecchino would likely have big respect for Furina when she knows the truth, and Arlecchino in some way is also an actor (the Fontaine trailer). She might feel bad and try to make up for Furina in future quests when she’s released.
So many unanswered questions with little to no answers. But he is what I think: Furina is the archon but her actual control is sealed for a reason. While the chief justice is a different being that controls water (Potentially the Hydro Dragon)
Interesting theory, but it is also possible that Neuvillette and Furina are once one entity but were split into two. But as for the reason why, I don't know

i cant wait for focalor's identity/history reveal, I've been told that the game usually drop hints about the archon's abilities and pasts through elemental culus and elemental slimes. Furina is currently the archon ive been obsessed to know about, her character is so mysterious and unique in a way that i couldn't even think of a theory:') Neuvillette and The Knave as well has also piqued my interests, i can't wait to come back to this comment once the Hydro Archon's past has been revealed.
With the oratrice being repeatedly mentioned throughout the story I would say that probably plays a major role in Furina's past history. It's very interesting to see that even Furina herself doesn't know how the oratrice works, even though "she" supposedly created this machine.
Really interesting how they're just telling us "she's not the archon" so hard. I'm thinking that she's not the archon at the time being, but she will be? I don't know. If she was chosen to be the archon, then she'll probably make an important decision to end the prophecy and then she'll be truly the Hydro Archon. Maybe she'll use the gnosis somehow? Gotta say, Furina a very intriguing character, and I can't just ignore the build up for the final acts

after the quest end, the only thing i can speculate is that, there are two furinas coz their name is literally- the Focalors not Focalor so the one who was shown to us may be clone or something and the real archon is somewhere doing something about the prophecy

Not really, if you recall at the start of fontaine traveler was about to challenge Furina to a duel and she got scared inmediately, the people were not interested so that's why she pulled the ''aha '' thing and act she does, she's not strong but the people do think she is, they expect her to be able to defend herself but the fact is that she's so weak right now that she stays all the time in her house or the opera and always with neuvillete on sight, i don't think it was a bait she was truly just trying to pet a cat and someone tried to kill her, something is wrong with her yes but her naive and scared self is not a lie , she is trying to be a leader but is so incredibly lost by the profecy she didn't even think on an emergency plan in case she can't stop the disaster shes a mess and there's probably a reason tbh

Furina crying makes me think she can't use her powers. Even though Harbingers are really powerful for human standards, an Archon folding like that without even knowing she was facing a Harbinger means Furina has A. Either never used her powers and doesn't know how powerful she actually is, or B. Based on Arlecchino's theory, she might be under some kind of seal that prevents her from using her powers

I usually never care what happens for the most part in these semi cutscenes, but this one just made me feel so bad for Furina, even if it turns out in the end that the fatui were gathering the gnosis to do something good, I still could never get over the fact that she was about to kill someone just to take one. Focalors is just the 'official' name of the Archon. Much like Barbados is the official name for the Wind Archon, but Venti is his alias when he goes around town, same with Zhongli and his official name as 'Morax/Rex Lapis', the Electro Archon is Ei (official name of Baal), and like Nahida's official name is Buer.
It's more likely her "Focalors" side is in slumber thus her powers not truely awaken. But when it does it doesn't mean Furina is gone, it's more Furina gets a boost
Furina's so weird. Like we know she's an archon and she has little to no demonstration of being an archon. I hope we can get some archon feats in the 4.2 quest. The only thing that might make her interesting is that she's the only archon so far to recognize the traveler and expect his arrival before u arrive and depending on ur playstyle, u could come to fontaine right after mondstadt; but that could easily be explained by other things like newspapers and stuff. (and then ofc, the inazumins actually knew u were coming too cuz Ayaka was eager to meet u)
Or maybe this is the first archon who is actually physically weak. Archons are, in essence, elemental creatures of Teyvat after all, not omnipotent deities in the traditional sense.

That's because they are hiding something about her. Maybe she cannot be killed or hurt? Maybe she is a clone of the original archon similar to perona in one piece with how she can use her fruit, put her body in a room and roam around as a ghost. After the 4.2 Archon quest, I feel even worse for Furina. She had a rough and lonely situation for a looong time.
Could it be that while the Hydro archon was fighting in the Cataclysm way back and died, her nation Fontaine, was also facing its battle? Without their archon, Fontaine fell and lost as well. Then, Furina, the current archon was born in Fontaine after Egeria’s passing. She learned that everybody there have died and that she’s all alone. Maybe those were her tears (feelings) that we can still hear in the fountain of Lucine. Out of desperation and love for Fontaine, she revived everyone using the primordial sea waters, as oceanids. Everyone in Fontaine ARE oceanids. Fontainians are elemental beings, that’s why we can harvest their energy via the Oratrice to power the nation. Furina probably was cursed by Celestia for doing so, for interfering with what should have been (reviving the people).Celestia took her divine power and even her consciousness, but she was able to put her gnosis in the oratrice first so she can still guide and be able to fulfill her role as an archon, God of Justice even by means of becoming a machine. The current Furina probably is an empty shell of what Furina used to be, cursed by Celestia for all we know.

I used to think that the idea of people believe their Archon getting assassinated by someone during first act of Liyue Archon quest is dumb. But after this scene, maybe not so much.
I'd say it was still pretty dumb. The power difference between an original archon and a young one is probably very significant. Rex Lapis was a god killer during the archon war and Furina's archon status is questionable

1) locked away pretty much since her birth, and;
2) having the least followers of the Archons, and according to herself, an Archon's power is proportional to their country's religious faith in them.
Very weird. I presume either Furina is too dumb to realize the power she holds, perhaps she is indeed cursed, or maybe Fontaine splits their religious faith with Neuvillette.

Now that we have the context of Chapter IV Act V, is it any wonder why Furina was so traumatized? It wasn't that she almost died; it's that Arlecchino found out she was a fraud. And if word of that got out, the prophecy would be fulfilled and Fontaine would be destroyed.
I actually want to see Furina try to get some revenge on Arlecchino. However, despite having a Hydro Vision now, Furina would probably still lose against the Knave. I could, though, see Arlecchino commending Furina for mustering up some courage since their last encounter.
I didn't read any of her voice lines, but by the main Story alone, assuming that her personality hasn't mixed with the act, I think that she is not someone who would hold grudges at all... In fact, she sounds like a really sweet person.

With the oratrice being repeatedly mentioned throughout the story I would say that probably plays a major role in Furina's past history. It's very interesting to see that even Furina herself doesn't know how the oratrice works, even though "she" supposedly created this machine.

Según un evento, el otro arconte hydro murió, Furina es una sucesora, y creo que no tiene suficiente poder o es muy inexperta.
La cosa con ella es que, no tiene la fuerza de Ei, ni la sabiduría de Nahida, me parece normal que se comporte así.
@@fabiolalara1874muy probablemente Furina sí tiene un poder, pero no en su cuerpo actual, ella está ocultandolo dentro de la máquina, dónde realmente se encuentra la gnosis y su otra personalidad.
Cuando ambas furinas se consigan, Furina revelará su verdadera personalidad como la arconte de Fontaine

So Furina was the "Acting Archon". the true Archon (Focalor) was inside of that long-ass name judge machine
Focalors is just the 'official' name of the Archon. Much like Barbados is the official name for the Wind Archon, but Venti is his alias when he goes around town, same with Zhongli and his official name as 'Morax/Rex Lapis', the Electro Archon is Ei (official name of Baal), and like Nahida's official name is Buer.
It's more likely her "Focalors" side is in slumber thus her powers not truely awaken. But when it does it doesn't mean Furina is gone, it's more Furina gets a boost
Furina's so weird. Like we know she's an archon and she has little to no demonstration of being an archon. I hope we can get some archon feats in the 4.2 quest. The only thing that might make her interesting is that she's the only archon so far to recognize the traveler and expect his arrival before u arrive and depending on ur playstyle, u could come to fontaine right after mondstadt; but that could easily be explained by other things like newspapers and stuff. (and then ofc, the inazumins actually knew u were coming too cuz Ayaka was eager to meet u)
Or maybe this is the first archon who is actually physically weak. Archons are, in essence, elemental creatures of Teyvat after all, not omnipotent deities in the traditional sense.
