The Fastest Cup of the Day of 2024!

- Yesterday at TrackMania's Cup of the Day, we played an insanely fast fullspeed map!
Not every fullspeed map in Trackmania is the same. Often these maps have around 500-600 speed and not much more. Yesterdays map instead had an average speed of around 800, so it was a lot faster than usual fullspeed maps. The higher the speed on these, the more important speedsliding gets and since I am not the greatest fullspeed player of all time, this track was a big challenge!
Cup of the Day (COTD) is the biggest competition in TrackMania with thousands of players each day that is getting played on the latest Track of the Day being available for everyone with a paid access to the game.
Format explanation:
-15min time attack seeding
-players will be put into divisions of 64 according to the final ranking after the seeding
-knockout mode of these 64 players in each division until 1 player wins with the following knockout repartition: 64-17 players = 4 KOs/round; 16-9 players = 2 KOs/round; 8-2 players = 1 KO/round

Top 500 is only -.2 from gold medal, that is kinda hilarious. The majority of players will not even get gold on this because the gaps are insane
i got a 46.048 and still have not gotten a pb to get gold😭
@@jackconnell8319 Damn, you can do it. It’s pretty much impossible without some halfway decent speedslides and you really want to get a good start and end. You have to slide everywhere and in the last pancake try to speedslide over the magnet before the last feature and you will gain a lot of speed.
FS is such a hunting genre I don't think it's ever suitable for the TA format. Miss any SD and the run is already unsavable

I don't mind maps like this for totd because it shows to new players what the game has to offer and I think that is what it should be about, as well as decent mixed map #61028. If you're an intermediate player who usually is good at getting ATs and you see a map where you get a good run and you're 5 seconds behind AT that is a cool experience, it is exciting because you can see that even though you feel pretty good there are still things you can learn so much about. I think its ok for people to not be div 1 every day if they arent specialised in that kind of driving.
I enjoy watching cotd videos but mostly just for the qualifying phase. It’s interesting for me to watch players (that are much better than me) learn maps. However, the format of the rounds of cotd isn’t all that entertaining to me. It’s just watching someone playing safe for 20 or so rounds of the same map that they just spent 15 minutes risking to learn.
I think it’s a tough format to maintain retention. If people aren’t here *specifically* for you/your content, they’re likely only going to watch until you’re out.
Same. After the qualifiers I just pull the progress bar to the last 8 or so and if I see schtreamer's already ded I skip again to the final round
