  • For me, the walk to Mt Misery, Tasmania, was anything but conducive to misery. I had a great time, soaking in the sun and magnificent views, on this 3 hour walk.
To access Mt Misery, drive to Ranelagh, and then make your way to Huon Bush Retreats via North Huon and Browns Road (which gets steep towards the end). I recommend donating at the registration station, as the track's are privately maintained.

Thanks for visiting us at the Mount Misery Walk, part of the Huon Bush Retreats eco-tourism development, south from Hobart, Tasmania. We purchased this land from loggers who were going to demolish the beautiful forest. Now, we share it with people who hopefully leave a donation to cover the $100k cost of building the track. No worries! I'll have to back sometime; I really loved the forest on the lower slopes!

I got a bit excited there because I hadn't been to Mt Misery and then that viewpoint across to all those mountains - but you're right the summit was a little disappointing in the end. Great destination tho / one to consider.

FloNo Trail I managed to find the trig point but there were no views there either... plus there was a large private property sign (wasn't sure on it's legitimacy though)
