Also, when growing food it is best to focus on feeding the Soil, rather than feeding the plants. Once you balance the life in the soil you will have fewer pests and disease pressure because they can't attack a healthy plant. The soil is the KEY! Check out Korean Natural Farming. It is big in Hawaii. They make all of their soil amendments for free using local resources. We use it in our farm and is the best knowledge out there for self sufficient gardening.

I got a tip you might can use Brethren… banana peels, apple cores, and some potato skins is all you will need. You cut them all up and mix it together let it sit in a container in the sun for a few days give it a good stir up and you can put in the hole under the plant or you can’t put on top of the ground throughout your gardens it will feed make ‘em grow strong when you water try and water towards the evening so your plants don’t burn out… I love your land very beautiful very peaceful and I also enjoy your insight on Seala media… Perfect love brethren let me know if it works for you 🙏🏿

Ramon, you can plant amaranth/calaloo next to your cucurbit plants (cucumber, watermelon, squash, etc) to help with the bug pressure. The bugs will prefer to eat the amaranth and move off your cucurbit. Good companion plants. It helps here on our farm in Connecticut, USA. Much love and many blessings. You're doing the right thing to plant your own food.
Last year I planted cucumbers 🥒 with okra and they both grew well well, they love each h other.I am learning about companion planting. It really made a difference.
