Thought I'd finally make this long due video on the Polo 6R Maxidot Cluster Upgrade. The cluster really ups the premium feel of the car. Have u installed the dimmer switch?
Yes, mine is a BCM connected Dimmer switch. It's fairly simple, and requires a tiny wiring modification if you'd like to get it done

You'd need a slightly different cluster for the Diesel, but it can be done for sure.

Are there any immo or can communication related problems after the instrument cluster swap. Coz vw cars immobilizer and can system is inside instrument cluster ( Mainly polo/vento/rapid ). And Which tool is used to do the coding part, as VCDS does not do it.
A proper cluster retrofit involves transferring IMMO Data from old cluster to the new cluster. Long coding the cluster can be done by VCDS, but it cannot be adapted online with VCDS. ODIS can be used to adapt online if it's a brand new legal cluster. Used clusters cannot be adapted by OEM tools, so you'd need something like VVDI. If you physically swap clusters without the tools you will be stuck
@@SujoyShivde yes , thats correct. Immo data transfer is done simply by copying the eeprom chip and writing the data to the new one. And that process is simply easy. Many tools like vvdi, hexprog, ktag do it. But still many people who do ecm and cluster repairing and have access to these tools, hesitate to work on VW cluster swap, maybe they are not sure or they fail to work. So i am not sure whether the only thing needed for swap is Immo data copying & meter adaptation via vcds or odis. Or there is some more to it.
Depends on which cluster you buy. If it's new, it's super straightforward via ODIS. Feel free to try it out, it's fairly quick and easy. Just adapt online, adapt keys online and you're through. If it's used, then plenty of other steps come into play

Yes, when you officially program the cluster with OEM tools, the original mileage is transferred. Just the way it should be.

Will this maxidot cluster fit in a 2013 polo GT tdi diesel? Yes no maybe?
Fits diesel, but with some important limitations, which can cause issues to your car. You can buy used diesel Maxidot clusters and get them adapted to your diesel Polo

If you have a suitable OEM radio then yes

The old cluster can sell for about 10k but that too only if it's in brand new condition. It cannot be officially reprogrammed, so selling it is not really a viable option. The Maxidot Cluster was installed by me close to three years back and we install it ourselves. So my pricing is not really a good representation of what it will cost to the end user. You can speak to retrofit firms for present prices.

You need a brand new cluster, compatible with your immobiliser, and a few OEM special tools to code and adapt. Contact a retrofit shop for more information.

The old cluster and the facelift cluster hace different socket type. The old one is big and blue and the facelift is black and small socket. How you change this?
Your car might be a 6C, it is electronically a different platform. In India, and few other markets, VW only sold the 6R.
@@SujoyShivdeI have polo 6R 2010 and I have the cluster with the blue socket exactly same as you in the video but the new cluster have a another socket type not the blue one….
@hakanyzz the cluster you purchased belongs to a 6C, if it is a black connector. The 6C Cluster will not work. You can use the housing, but the 6C Electronics are incompatible with 6R.
Can I get needle swipe in jetta mk5
Unfortunately, not possible to do it on Jetta MK5 with Red Needles. Needs EEPROM modification

With some alterations, yes.
Will it work in 2018 Gt tdi?
Yes, but TDI has a different cluster, dials, check engine light etc
Does it support Vento?
Yes, supports Vento as well
Doesn’t this void warranty?
Depends on your dealership. It's a plug and play upgrade, and can be done officially with OEM tools. The primary concern during cluster swaps is mileage modification which is illegal almost everywhere.

I beg to differ. OEM retrofits have become popular and available by demand pan India. I know so many friends who do these retrofit projects in both North and South India.

I keep recommending a few retrofit shops, but there are a dozen stores which show up daily. It's become hard to keep track, and I do not believe in blindly recommending everyone, since I don't have first hand experience with them. You can checkout VAGSTAR, Vagmaster, ThatRedSells, GermanDNA etc.

Glad you liked it. Yes, it's come a long way. I've seen it change from 2001 :) to what it's like today. Looking back, we could have made a better video, but this is sort of the best we could do in Summer with just one iPad as our video device.
