Maureen Stapleton wins the Tony Award for "The Gingerbread Lady" (1971)

Maureen Stapleton wins the Tony Award for her role as Evy Meara in Neil Simon's "The Gingerbread Lady". Stapleton received six Tony nominations during her lengthy career and won twice. Her first Tony was in the Best Featured Actress category for "The Rose Tattoo" (1951).
