Unpopular opinion: I’m all consumed out. I was a big shopaholic but prices soared and quality dwindled. Creativity gets dampened by overhyped trends and things sell out quick unless you’re super sourcing things. I love fashion but styling staple pieces has been way more fun than the new items lately
Same here! And really conscious of sustainability now so I am doing a full year of no clothes shopping, and barely any shoes or bags. Loving it so far!

Balmain is cut in such a way that when I wear it I feel like a supermodel, and jacqmeus is cut in a way that makes me feel frumpy 😂 that being said jacqmeus has very nice bags, good leather, well made, for a fair feeling price.

I wasn't excited about the news of Pharell becoming a creative director, but he is doing a magnificent job. People are again talking about LV and he is bringing out very popular pieces. I wish he would take over woman part of LV as it became very boring, especially with some of their new bags being "quiet luxury".
I bought from men's collection Soul Trunk East West in the worn out looking canvas and it wowed me. It is everything that I wanted Side Trunk to be, it has more space and I don't need to worry about scratching of the hardware as it already looks used.
Agree on Balmain - But it will forever remind me of the time I looked at a random hoodie on a rack at Selfridges and it was a £4000 Balmain sweatshirt

Miu Miu is the instagram and Tamara brand. It’s overexposed. As an older lady, I see brands like Prada and Miu Miu putting out jackets from the 80’s that I already own. They copied the older designs and just slapped a logo on it. The tan bomber jacket you showed is an example. I have an amazing one. No label. Also, you scrolled by a white cotton jacket with silver buttons that literally looks like my old Levi’s short cropped white jacket with silver buttons. In terms of handbags Louis Vuitton is catching my eye. Jessie’s Closet just put out a video on what’s coming from LV and it looks really good! I have elevated my dressing with fine jewelry and accessories, some of which you have so kindly linked. Thank you very much!
Some of those Miu Miu coats remind me of the jackets the train drivers wore in the 80s and 90s.
When I was younger (circa late 90's early 2000''s) Miu Miu was Prada's diffusion line, thus sold at diffusion prices which was all I could afford back then. However, since then most diffusion lines appear to have closed down and Miu Miu pricing itself at main line prices. But people of my age that can now afford those prices, I'm not wearing mini skirts and that whole teen look. Although I'm not complaining because a few months back, I sold a load of my old Miu Miu items and made more money then I thought I would!

Agee with you on Prada. I have shoes circa 2014 and I’m seeing them again in the latest season. Never understood their price markup recently; however, their outlets are good and I always seem to find great deals there. I’m truly loving what Pharrell is doing for LV. I have a few of their pieces and they are timeless

One of the first things I’m buying when I reach my weight loss goal is a balmain blazer. I tried one on recently and I felt very put together without much effort.

It’s honestly a chicken and egg. Zara’s business model is ripping off popular brands almost exactly, and by doing that, they occasionally fall in line with original designer’s vision.

I always felt like miu miu was more for girls in their 20s and Prada is for girls 30 and up

Agree with everything you said! To add- Dior ready to wear is looking like Micheal Michael kors right now. Their shoes, hats and classic bags are still good but what’s going on with this whole Miss Dior thing?? 🤯
I 100% don’t get the Miu Miu thing either. It definitely gives Hollister vibes, but for an absolutely absurd price. I also feel like it’s a social media only brand and some of the products also look….cheap.
The Miu Miu hype is a surprise to me. The pricing is just out of control.

This is why I like this review, u can dupe some of these basics and save urself quite a bit
Pharrell’s collections look great on the runway in context of the theme. But when I see the clothing in person it’s hard for me to visualise how they would fit with my wardrobe.
I really like the new Miu-Miu style, but it's not for the average 40+ woman. I would have loved to wear it in my teens and twenties.

Love *yutulu* the way you show it! You really focus on showing off the bag. I don't think any other UA-camr can show off bags in as much detail as you.
Insightful takes as usual Cassie! The face you made in the thumbnail made me make coffee first. Yes! Draggg! Price basics at an affordable price. Too much too when any brand excludes most body types. We aren't most of us a size 0 or over 6 feet tall.
Love Balmain too, they just get it.

Lot of items at Miu miu are not photographed well. I use to be like you, I didnt understand and then I went to the store and checked the items in real life their bags look like nothing on the website but in real life, the quality, craftmanship and the intricacy in the details is on another level and top it with an amazing customer experience that you dont get anymore from lot of other luxury brands these you will be converted 😂❤❤🎉

Honestly couldn’t agree more!!! Schiaparelli and chrome hearts have a very good strategy and don’t seem to fall in the black hole along with everyone else ( preying for Burberry). Personally I am really trying to find independent designers and more artisanal pieces some originality is desperately needed!!!

I really don't care about Prada and I don't get the Loewe hype. They have some nice pieces and the Loewe quality is really good but I don't fawn over either. Never liked LV either. And all the big brands now are slapping a logo on a bunch of cheap crap and charging thousands. It's all so boring

Thank you for yet another insightful and truthful video. Fashion for some houses is no longer about creativity but about profit. And I have to ask, I know is beneath luxury. But the proposal of the Spanx founder (hail grace to her) just came up with sneakers on heels (nothing new) the price point is ridiculous. But the shoes are not quite ugly. If you come across it I would love to hear your thoughts.

fun video balmain is underrated but still talked about i remember being super excited about the beyoncé tour once i realized he was designing some of her costumes

I adore you and I agree about Chrome Hearts being one of the last true luxury houses. About their use of silver. I want to demystify you about the cost of silver. One Troy Oz of silver only cost about 30 USD. Meaning it doesn't cost them lots of money to use it. It's very wise for them actually. You agree the the name and design of brand might dictate its value. Tiffany and Co for example a their use of 925. If you took that new fabulous pinky ring you just snagged this year. It's less than 1 OZT of silver. If you melted it it's worth 30ish dollars. I buy designers things too and would love Chrome Hearts (like the rest of the world clearly) but I thought more people should know the true value of silver.
Absolutely! Chrome Hearts was big in the early 2000s, now you can find those old designs knocked off in stainless steel for $20.

While I definitely think the Margaux bag by The Row is a very cool looking bag, the thing I like about the Prada bag is the fact that the depth is not as wide. If you get a Margaux 17, the depth is great for traveling. But for an everyday bag like the Margaux 12, the depth is just a bit much for me! Of course, I would just love to see one of the Margaux bags in person, but (a) I live in Montana, and we have no access to that bag here, and (b) every time I try to find one online they’re sold out!

the criticism a lot of people have about Miu Miu being too young for them is always interesting. I always felt like Miuccia definitely seems to have more "fun" if you will with silhouettes and such but the Miu Miu girl has always been a range of women across age groups. like she goes from having young actresses like Demi Singleton and Storm Reid, then you have the generation that Gigi & Kendall represent, then there's Chloe Sevigny, Adriana Lima, Amber Valetta, Mia Goth, Zaya Wade, Emrata idk. Miu Miu doesn't read to me as a girl of a certain age but for sure a particular attitude

Balmain is strange. Whilst Olivier is a creative genius, the stores are different. I once went to the Balmain store in Dubai Mall and everything was 70-90% off, with big signs, like a rug store clearance. Jackets and bag from 5000-300 dollars etc. It was... strange..
They are in TJ Maxx as well. Only a few items.

I have never bought anything from either Miu Miu or Prada. I am not keen on Prada Nylon bags and hate that inverted triangle logo. I read however both Prada and Miu Miu are both brands doing well. With Prada right at the top of the chain which surprised me above Hermes. Even Mui Miu is doing better than Hermes. I guess in fashion you like what you like and taste changes which can either elevate a brand or bring it down.
Totally agree Balmain: OR just does what he thinks .. the collections have been consistently good for well over 10 years with few exceptions imho .. he hasn’t got the buzz but maybe he’s risen above that .. loyal customers .. anyone who knows fashion knows he’s great .. would be interesting for Chanel but him and balmain perfect fit .. just gave my cousin my black sleeveless jersey top with logo and gold shoulder buttons .. a classic and sooooo luxurious .. oh sod.
Agree miu miu: matelasse bags nooooooo. But Emma Corin looks awesome in the rtw.
Disagree Prada: the raf Simons collab hardly set the world alight - is he even still there ?? - but the recent Michele wang video on prada has some reaaaally chic pieces with great details .. the ombré shirt dress, and the dark gabardine dress with the deconstructed minimalist epaulettes .. really loved them .. intelligent, thoughtful, unexpected twists that a certain kind of refined customer would just drink up .. amid the predictable branded crap something there worth a closer look.
Anyway still wish you had bought the schiap skeleton top !! THAT is you imho 😀💪
the prada Lindy bag is a bit of a stretch. It is just such a shame because Prada was one of the innovators, not a copier, and they have given up on that now
Balmain is underrated
I loved MiuMiu at one time- there were those pieces that suited a more mature woman- I am hopeful based on recent runway shows that they are turning the old ship around!!
