It speaks to a britain we used to love and we see so many problems. Think it's melancholic homage to our home. 51 year old brit here too and Ren has just entered my life this past couple months and it's been one wild ride.
The original...? The 1965 version... You were 45 then? Dang, over 100 yrs old, that's amazing. Oh, wait... You meant when The Verve's version came out... LOL 🤣
@@johnmurkwater1064 The Rolling Stones song The Last Time, is NOT Bittersweet Symphony. The Stones NEVER sang Bittersweet Symphony. This Stones track was used by their manager to create a musical track that the Verve used in their song 👍🇬🇧
This feels like we are riding a wave that's building and building, getting bigger and better and it's not closing out. A ride of a lifetime just like Ren's a once in a generation artist. Trying hard not to fanboy, but with quality matching quantity it's hard not to get a little giddy on this wave that is Ren's tale in the making. New to your channel and love how you lads go about it. Keeping it real. Much love to you guys, much love to Ren and much love to all the good folk, the friends of humanity making change through life's insanity.
I think what's even more remarkable than his undeniable talent is this feedbackloop of hope, love, support and humanity he created in symbiosis with all you reactors. All the comment sections are full of peoples stories and others bigging them up, just all around positivity, and that's just awesome to witness.
It reminds me of "Under the bridge" by The Red Hot Chilly Peppers.. In the sense that Anthony Keidas is singing about his love for Los Angeles, " At least I have her love, the city she loves me, lonely as I am together we cry", Great reaction guys!
There's a lot going on in this. For a start 'The Seagulls' is Brighton & Hove Albion FC's nickname. Ren's from Brighton, the whole song is an ode to his hometown. Ending it with 'We're birds of a feather' ties up a spiral. He's a clever kid. Puts out a much needed vibe. Hope he goes absolutely interstellar. Seems like a very brave lad with an incredible amount of talent and stoicism. Ren is a Pure Creative Force. I'm a 51 year old who was lucky enough to see his train coming from behind an Akai mpc in Chester. He's not wrong about street violence. I can't go out since having my head smashed in literally twice. Britain needs to get real with it's attitude to 'drugs'. The street fights are ridiculous. It's alcohol & cocaine related shittery. I stay well away. I'm the proud owner of half a titanium face because of two random play-fighters. Been battered 2 or 3 times since. Self defence is a must in Britain. I'm disabled now. Last guys left me for dead in between 2 parked cars. I was walking, without my necessary crutches from a pub and got hit on the turn. Woke up at night-time. Half deaf. I got hit so hard it broke a piece of bone off in my ear which was later removed by a bedside Dr in the Hospital. Crazy how much that 1 moment changed me. Ended up with 3 cracked ribs too. Unconscious isn't enough for some people sadly. Some people like when you stop moving. I've survived a full unconscious 2-footed stamp on my head at 14-15 years old. Just walking home drunk and a gang hit me. Chester is one of the most beautiful cities on the planet. It has a full 360 degree Roman Wall surrounding it. Gotta be very careful going out on your own though. My son Sam has also been assaulted in town. It's far too common all over. I remember frequent punch-ups in pubs before it got really nasty. This is different. It's probably the biggest criminal problem right now in Britain. It ruins so many lives.
This video is shot in Western Road, Brighton. I spent a lot of days as a student and later as an adult living in Brighton. I remember uni days were a lot like what Ren is describing. Fast forward to today the situation hasn’t changed much. Lots of people struggling. This is a great piece on life in Britain (at least in south England).
Fantastic reaction thanks for supporting ren love and respect from the UK 67 year great granddad thanks guys love and respect from the UK 👍👍👍👍👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍
You were both so excited to be close to 1K followers and to see you over 5K made me so happy and excited for you! You deserve all the love coming your way! Thank you for being so incredible and supportive to Ren and his art ❤
Awesome Reaction! And Ren did an amazing job with it! For me, this is one of the iconic songs of the 90's and it takes me back to that time and place, living near the ocean in San Diego. The seagulls were the icing on the cake. It's strange how a song can be so current, yet stir up memories. I love all of the Retakes. He has 4 others, Right Here Right Now-Fatboy Slim, All my Life-Foo Fighters, Losing It- Fisher Rap Remix and Wildfire-SBTRKT one shot retake. They all are similar in the way he uses the original song to build and create this (I like the word captivating) masterpiece.
I swear to god. I've never seen an artist be able to turn classics into their own left and right and have it match up to the original every time, many times surpassing. If you haven't yet check out his band The Big Push. Their cover "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop" is something you must see! There are a few covers of this version up from them and all great, but there is something magical about this one. It's found on the Big Push channel.
Fun reaction as always. Fun fact: after seeing this, one of the members of the Verve send Ren his guitar (to Canada!)! Missing your reaction to Animal Flow! And you should finally get to Chinchilla solo stuff! Little girl gone is an absolute banger. And Fingers (live for Hunger TV) is just amazing.
Another great review. I was delighted to enjoy this track as much as his other works. I can’t believe that I only heard of him a week after Hi Ren. Looking forward to the next one. 🇬🇧
I am actually very thankful for UA-cam and social media I live in Alaska and Alaska doesn't tend to get these artists these underground artists there are a few here but if we were to just rely on radio we would never hear this kind of music. And I spend 90% of my time just listening to either the music itself or watching reactions of it and it's all music like Ren's thought-provoking and honest in a manner that's understandable.
You have to check out his remix rap of "I'm Losing It" (a must) as well as his track "The Hunger". It will blow your mind. Dude is so diverse. "I'm losing It" is next level!!!!!!!
One you absolutely have to react to is his cover of I Shot the Sheriff with The Big Push. It’s street corner busking and yet again he changes everything you know about him as an artist.
Great reaction, your so right we need REN and more independents who can show the industry how it should be done. We are bloated and saturated by chum from every angle. If he had stayed with SONY this would never have happened they would have diluted his talent.
Should be noted the Verve took the sample from the rolling Stones, great retake from REN though. His Right Here Right Now takeover is great as is Money Game 2
“People go to work and the Sun Mirrors that” ..Sun and Mirror two national papers in UK. Every single word in every song has something that can be taken so many ways. Living busking he sees what the papers say doesn’t reflect the real world.
@@ReactionRecall oop seemed that you already did that! Well some other suggestions would be: Be like me, power, hunger, Genesis, both "money games" (you'll find something that was reference in "hi Ren" in part 2) There's some other good ones I jam to a lot, but they are all from his semi-older stuff, like french song, insomnia, depression, penitence (those last 3 hit me hard ngl) (I was that guy who was a Ren head before even power. I love this man and glad he's blowing up)
He quit smoking in Canada, and was putting this video together up there, he said it was hard to do because he's smoking in this and doesn't smoke anymore XD
The bass guitarist with The Verve liked it so much he sent Ren a guitar.
That's awesome
It's really cool, after seeing this The Verve actually tracked him down in Canada and gifted him a guitar.
It just resonates so deeply! As a 52 year old Brit, it takes me back 30 years!
46 year from Wales and my belief in music has be rekindled by this guy !! Pure genius 🙌

"The greatness and the blight" or the bitter and the sweet. A great ode to Britain.
Extremely fitting!
Nice to see more people discovering the seemingly endless talent of Ren
