What’s Up Peeps! I’ve recently discovered different members of this group. I’m slowly but surely going down the rabbit hole that is BTS (inc. some collabs)! Hope you enjoy my reactions as I try to discover what the hype is about!

Bullet Proof Boyscouts was used because they promoted their group as a “protector” of their adolescent fans……meaning they would shield them from the bullets of depression, insecurity, self doubt, criticism that target adolescents. They wanted to be their fan’s….ARMY……safe place💜

Another translation for sonyeondan is 'group of boys' so it doesn't necessarily have the connation of being good boys in the way we might think of boyscouts. It isn't a commonly used word (apparently old fashioned sounding) in Korean which is also why it was made fun of. Apparently it just sounds a bit weird to the Korean ear.

It's exciting to watch reactors watch this. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 you are so lucky. They have so much content musically but also behind the scenes hilarity. RUN BTS their own variety show producers gives BTS various set ups then just let these naturally funny chaotic people do their thing....

Ohyess: when she said "goody 2 shoes" I went "Ohno", because BTS were always controversial and challenged Korean 'norms' and to some extent challenged demands made on young people - from their very first single. No more dream invites young people not to simply comply with demands that they study ALL THE TIME to get a 'good job' (which will often involve pretty low wages and very long working hours in excess of 12 hour days) ,,, but to find their own dream and follow it. For me, that seems very revolutionary. It's also what BTS themselves did.
For many years BTS would not be considered very good sons. At an award show, Jin shared that his mum (without criticising him) used to share how she would meet her friends and could only listen to them talking about how well their sons were doing - at last he could say he had made his mum proud. In tears - both Jin, and me.

You never have to apologize for a long video of BTS…ARMYs are so dedicated that many of us watched an animation of butter melting for an hour lol! You may not understand what I’m referring to just yet but I have a feeling you’ll find out during your journey through the BTS rabbit hole. Speaking of which, you should check out their Butter mv. Or their performance of Butter at the 64th Grammy awards…AMAZING!

Girl, dont be sorry for long videos when doing BTS reactions. Its a joy to watch your honest reactions and commentary.💜 I graduated in '87 so their ages make me feel SUPER old. 😂😂 I love BTS so much, though.
It's a lazy Sunday (besides cooking, cleaning and laundry haha) so I'm sorry if this comment is too long.
Weverse is their app for BTS to stay connected to fans. Its free and a great source to watch their content. 🙂
Suga is actually the NBA's international ambassador as of early 2023 and has done a lot of promotions for them before he enlisted in September.
They built the record label from the brink of bankruptcy to being the most profitable record company in South Korea. BTS alone brought in $5 billion dollars into the SK economy in 2021 from concerts, merchandise and mostly tourism dollars.
They recorded a lot of content to be released during their 18 months of enlistment. Projects that they did before enlisting can be released while they're serving. But they aren't allowed to release any content that was created during their enlistment period. So, we don't hear much from the guys already serving in the military.
We'll occasionally see pics of JHope (he enlisted in April 2023) and Jin (he enlisted in December 2022) and they're looking pretty buff so it'll be fun to see them when they get back. They've both achieved Special Warrior status while enlisted due to their physical, emotional and mental achievements. They had to go through special endurance training in order to get the 'Special Warrior' designation.
Jin is scheduled for discharge in June 2024 and JHope (aka Hobi) will be discharged in October 2024. Suga (who enlisted in September) has to serve longer because he can't be an active soldier due to a severe shoulder injury, so he does government services instead and is scheduled for discharge June 2025. Now the remaining 4 (Jung Kook, RM, Jimin and V) will be going into the military by the end of this year. They'll all also get out June 2025.
Your pronunciations were mostly really good! Very impressive! 💜💜

    • @MystiqueRisingSun
      @MystiqueRisingSun 10 місяців тому +2

Slight correction - they're not allowed to release PAID content while serving. Nor are they (supposed) to be allowed on video.
Jin could release an album right now...BigHit/HYBE just wouldn't be able to SELL the album (and, of course, he couldn't promote it, either).
J-Hope could release a new MV...as long as he used still pictures from before military life *or* if he wasn't actually in the video.
Their military pay is the only pay check they are allowed to collect right now.
The only thing I'm not sure of is how past CD's/official merch. works. Since they can't get paid now...if someone buys anything from their "2 Cool 4 Skool" up to their "Proof" CD...or if someone orders a light stick on Weverse while they're in...I don't know what happens to their individual portions of the profit made on those items.

    • @purpleskiesforever
      @purpleskiesforever 10 місяців тому

@MystiqueRisingSun I'd think they keep all their accounts and have that revenue stream, but maybe can't touch it and have to use a Power of Attorney for access to funds.
I remember a story a few months ago where JHope's mom donated money on behalf of JHope for a local animal shelter to build more shelters for the animals. So, it seems like JHope's parents may have POA.

    • @MystiqueRisingSun
      @MystiqueRisingSun 10 місяців тому +1

@@purpleskiesforever I'm wondering if there is a certain clause for that...knowing everyone has to serve...and that "everyone" includes idols, actors (where a person's older movies/shows could be purchased while they're enlisted), etc. I'm sure they have something set up for cases like that, but, yeah, I just don't know exactly how it works.
On the other hand, while they're serving, they don't really need excessive amounts of cash anyway. They get all their meals for free. Though I don't know how other things work (from snacks to needed items like shampoo and such) in the military over there. I know in the U.S., they do have to pay at the commissary (on-base store) to get those things, but it's taken out of the pay they get from the military (these days, it's a type of debt card that their funds are loaded onto that only works on base)...so they may have a system like that for their military funds to get necessities. They can add their own funds to that card, though. So, they do still have access to their bank accounts.
I wonder if maybe the companies they work for just keep any earnings while enlisted in a separate account they can't touch while enlisted. Like, the company just gives them access to that account, or they get a payment, once they're out? That seems like much less hassle.
Hmm...once all of them are home, someone has to ask them about that! LOL

Bullet Proof Boyscouts can also be Bullet Proof Boys. The meaning of BTS - According to member J-Hope, the name signifies the group's desire "to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets". And their fandom's name ARMY is an acronym for Adorable Representative M.C.s for Youth - They are meant to walk alongside BTS in support of the under represented values and ideals they write about in their songs.

Thank you for taking some of your valuable time to not only watch this but editing and uploading your reaction. I am 48yr old ARMY and have been so since early 2017. My kids (all in early 20’s) teased me all the time about my love and obsession with BTS and the members. There is a saying that BTS finds you when you need them most and this was especially true for me. The music and lyrics are incredibly beautiful and meaningful. 💜💜💜

There are many documentaries on BTS including the Hardships of BTS from 2013-2021 by Xceleste anything from Rice Squad or Bora City Magazine. There is also a 21 episode (fan made) called the Rise of Bangtan. There are some songs like Singularity and Idol that have explanation videos from Rice Squad or Bookish Theories. If you react to Ddaeng or Ugh it is recommend to watch the explanation videos just because of the word play used in the lyrics. 💜💜💜💜 Welcome to the rabbit hole of BTS. We love our chaotic, crackhead humble kings.

    Thank you for finding them.
Among ARMY, there is a saying that BTS finds you when you need them the most in your life. :)
They all have different personalities and different talents, and they seem to combine like cogwheels to create the best balance and synergy. :)
I guess you already know, the reason why this introduction video is until 2022 is that BTS members are about to join the military.
After releasing a collaboration single with Coldplay, Jin, the oldest member, already enlisted about 10 months ago and is serving under Korean law.
And J-Hope joined the military about 6 months ago after releasing his solo album Jack In The Box and collaborating with J.Cole.
Suga released his solo album, D-Day, and he recently sold out all of his world tours and ended successfully, and he joined the army, September 22.
As you know, Jungkook was actively working as a soloist recently, and it was officially announced few days ago that other four members, including Jungkook, will soon join the military. 😭
So they are briefly stopping their eight-year group works and focusing on their solo work.
They promised ARMY that each of them will grow further through solo projects and come back together in 2025 after completing their military service.
Can I recommend some songs that I was comforted by them?
I'd like to introduce the story of the iconic trilogy that led them to a speech to the United Nations General Assembly.
DNA: Joy of fateful love → Fake Love: Realizing that love was a lie → IDOL, The Truth Untold, Epiphany, Answer Love Myself: To love other people completely, you should love yourself first.
These are included in Love Yourself Trilogy.
Oh, RM's speech at the UN cannot be missed. He was only 24 years old at the time!
Dynamite, Butter, Permission to Dance, these three songs were released in English to give positive energy to people around the world during the pandemic caused by Covid-19. :)
Most of their songs are in Korean, and their music video provides subtitles in several languages, including English.
And I highly recommend the music video and live performance of Spring Day, Mic Drop.
These two songs are totally different from each other, and you can feel the diversity of their music.
The lyrics of BTS' songs are based on their own experiences, and their albums are organic because they contain their growth narrative.
It'll also be fun to listen to their albums in order and analyze them. :)
If you're curious about their personalities, I recommend their variety show, Run BTS. (There is also their song, live performance, and dance practice with the same title as this.)
There is a considerable gap between them on stage and usual. They are actually very cute and funny. 🤣
Oh, I recommend Suchwita(meaning time to get drunk with Suga), too. Suchwita is a talk show created by Suga to promote the members' solo albums. Now, it's much larger than his initial intention, so he invited a variety of guests other than the members, though. 🤣
    Episodes in which the members appeared are ep.1, 7, 9, 12, 14, 15, 18 and 21. :)
You can hear the behind-the-scenes stories of the members' solo work in these videos.
He is currently serving in the military, and profitable activities during military service are prohibited under Korean law, so episodes he filmed in advance before joining the military are now being released every few weeks.
And I highly recommend BTS HARDSHIPS 2013-2021 by xCeleste.
This video shows why BTS and ARMY have a strong bond and why ARMY is so protective of BTS.
Sorry for this long comment. But I hope you enjoy this journey. :)

they all write and produce for their solo songs within bts. however songs get submitted as far as becoming part of bts discography the song still has to get approved. however people like suga saves all his songs and uses them later on or uses it as a production project for another artists. but their founder and management gives BTS the freedom to do most of what they want. including picking their own outfits or contributing to MV concepts etc

We Army live long videos. BTS trained us that way 😂
It’s so fun watching someone new Hearn about these seven delightfully diverse guys. All different but so hardworking and family. I’m nearly 50 and they and they’re music mean so much to me.
It’s crazy how much more there is to their story in the last 18 months since this guide came out. All have released solo work/albums (Jin’s was just a single but his will release once he’s back from the military in 6 months).
    Some unusual recommendations:
Rm: Yun featuring Erkyh Badu (lyric vid only but it’s a fantastic song)
Jin: Epiphany (live gives me chills)
    Suga: Snooze
    Jhope: Piece of Peace (live)
    Jimin: Lie
Taehyung: Snow Flower (an original Christmas song he did)
    Jungkook: Still With You
Group songs: Magic Shop Live, one of the most inspiring songs around. Written by Jungkook and the others helped.
Enjoy the journey take your time and have a great week!💜💜💜

Since this documentary was made, bts actually has won over 1000 awards in their career. They keep breaking records and even broke records they set themselves. They are successful as a group and as soloists, jungkooks song “seven” became platinum and both him a Jimin were #1 on billboard hot 100 multiple time and bts and the members as soloists are the only Asian acts to get a #1 spot on billboard hot 100 EVER! Also last week Jungkook won 7 music show awards in one day!

At lot of others have mentioned it previously, but BTS really does find you (even if it's a specific member) when you need them most. You don't have to apologize for long videos, we ARMY love them, especially when they come with genuine and appreciative reactions. You really paid attention, and your pronunciations were mostly spot on for your first try! Looking forward to seeing what you view next.
I also love documentaries, and if you're interested in more info on the group, XCeleste and Rice Squad have some amazing BTS videos. As for music. . .for anyone just dipping their toe into BTS, I always recommend "Black Swan" and "On" (the Kinetic Manifesto version) as good starter M/Vs. You'll get a good overall sense of their singing, rapping, and dancing in those.

Must see songs by the group vs solos and they are just some of my favorites, not a complete list though. There are so many but if you haven't seen them perform as a group you are truly in for a surprise. You said you prefer live but you should give their Official Music Videos a chance because there is no artist out there that produces them at the level BTS does. So give Black Swan, Blood Sweat and Tears or ON:Kinetic Manifesto a shot before you discount them. Straight English is "Dynamite" and "Butter" and "Permission to Dance" then it's mixed Korean and English for the rest (unless they are doing covers and those are a master class in vocals). You have to see "Blood, Sweat and Tears" Dionysus" "Idol" "Black Swan" "ON:kinetic Manifesto" "Mic Drop (Steve Aioki Remix)" "Dope" and "Fire" should be watched back to back, Something to keep in mind when doing Official MV vs live is that there may not be subtitles in the lives. And you need to see "Run" and "Run BTS" "Spring Day" "MikROKOSMOS" (which I have never seen live with choreo but the dance practice is awesome) and "Magic Shop" (now there is a live with subs for that is awesome) and it's the one that sent me down the rabbit hole. And there is "Bapsae" and "Anpanman" and "Airplane Pt.2" and "Boy With Love" (which is a collab with Halsey. Add "The Truth Untold" and "House of Cards" for the vocal line, these are a must. For the Rap Line (and I DO NOT LIKE RAP) but I love BTS rap, going in with Cyphers 3 and 4 (and there is an awesome live combo of those) and if you add the live versIon of "Outro:TEAR" (when they almost disbanded, the lyrics just tear your heart out and there is a live with subs) and with "DDang" you actually get all 7 on stage and its phenomenal. And if you do the "Dimple" which is vocal line only live it flows into "Pied Piper" with them all. Not sure if you are a dance fan but they have Dance Practice videos which are exactly that, no fancy costumes, no stage just in a dance studio setting with them their vocals and the most precise and beautiful choreo that you have ever seen a group do (which they don't always do with their lives depending on where it is in the set). Like the choreo for "Anpanman" is so good but in most lives they are just having a blast on stage and that choreo is almost lost but their performance is stellar. Their very first one is "No More Dream" and it's precious cause they look like babies and then "Take Two" is the last group song and its from 2022 and was recorded before they started the break for their mandatory military service. If I have overwhelmed you, sorry, not my intent, but as you can tell I just love all of their music. Hope you love whatever you pick and have a blessed holiday season!!

Just to start off with, long BTS videos are what ARMY lives for, so you're good there!! The intro was from "ON:Kinetic Manifesto" you have to check it out!! So funny, in the 90s my oldest was heading into high school...lol. Yoongi (Suga, Agust D), if you have a chance you should catch any of the live streams of his D'Day concerts here in the US this year. I was in Chicago for that one, it was the best concert I have ever attended. He is also the current Ambassador of the NBA. They got lots of disrespect from the media in South Korea. V Live is now Weverse and it's where they can all connect with ARMY through live videos. By the time they debuted they were the only group in their company, Big Hit let all their other talent go so they could concentrate on debuting BTS. I could go on forever as you can tell but I wont. Just join us in this wonderful world of ARMY and your life will be richer for sure, and you'll meet a lot of really nice people along the way!!! Take care and have a blessed week!! You don't even know where to start, but wherever you do you won't regret it.

Hi beautiful! I just binged all your reactions and I love your vibe! You got a sub from me. You’re so observant and I think you really get what BTS is about. Since you love Pentatonix you are the perfect person to become an ARMY. They have a similar quality of being a group of individually extremely talented unique artists that somehow shine even more as a group. Think 7 LeBron’s on one team. (And purple is already your fave color lol!)
You’re going to get so many Recs for songs and performances and documentaries, and they’re going to all be good! Everything BTS does is very high quality and it’s all very different. You can’t go wrong no matter what you pick. Let ARMY guide you, we love helping with this journey. I’m going to switch it up and offer some recs for funny vids to show you more of their personalities and dynamic since you seemed to like it. They’re very funny, sweet, humble goofballs and seeing them as they are is what makes most people an ARMY. I can’t really include links cause YT sucks but copy and paste should work since I’ll put the full video name.

I stopped listening to music until I found them in 2019. They appeared in a dark time in my life and taught me how to smile again. As army will tell you, they show up when you need them. As if by magic, and why their song "Magic Shop is an army favorite. Welcome to the rabbit hole💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

On my tiny West Indian Island of Montserrat...2:50 pm. Today is Sunny...lovely wind - beyond beautiful. WELCOME TO THE LARGEST FAMILY in the World. Borahea Darling. 💜💜. As an 'Army Mom' who discovered our Boys in 2016 - currently 56 yrs old.
Was by pure accident. I grew up with the Jackson Fives. Long before either Micheal or Janet broke away. Remember watching Janet as a lil kid on "Good Times'...LOVED n miss that show to this day. Point is: Knew ALL BOYBANDS that came after from then to now.
And BTS? - there is no comparison. They broke the 'Mould'. Not here to tell my personal story but let's just say....was in the deep end of a highly toxic/abusive relationship and BTS' message of "LEARN TO LOVE YOURSELF" HIT HARD.
Kicked that Monster to the curb and kept it moving since. The famous saying is: 'BTS Come Into Your Life...When Needed The Most". Well? Can attest to that. And possibly the Number of Army they've inspired/helped etc around the World? My story is nothing more than a grain of sand on a beach. So Borahea 💜💜 and stay safe *hugs*

One of the thing that endeared me to BTS in 2022 is the fancam of them at the AMAs during the NKOTB & New Edition performance. I'm a massive fan of both bands and they were in the crowd trying to copy all the dance moves and I thought.. Wow these guys are already accomplished dancers and earned their place in the boy band lexicon yet here they were, watching someone the original boy and dance moves and joining in.. sooo cute. Check it out when you can!

"Boyscouts" isn't the exact translation -- "sonyeondan" means a group of boys.
I'm not sure why boyscouts was chosen as the translation, but you'll often hear them called The Bangtan Boys.

BTS isn’t K-pop as K-pop would have you believe. They couldn’t get a foot in and have the gate kept access to korean media. So,…they became you tubers🥰🥰🥰 that’s how they got themselves out of South Korea. They started at 13, but RM was 17 when he was discovered by sleepy. I’m 62 by the way😁💜🔥👍🏻

KPop Idols as well as other Korean male artists, wear makeup and eyeliner, die their hair, and have stylist. There is something termed " Korean beauty standards" that are a but different from ours in the US. These standards are applied to the entire population. Of Korea but are very high for KPop Idols. Both RM and JHope received social media criticism for not meeting these standards. Today, the guys wear less dramatic eye makeup when performing but they still wear makeup.
You may already know that there is a difference between Idols and artists in Korea. Idols are cintractually exoected to adhere to behavior standards. Fir example, Idols are not expected to date. If they do, it is termed a scandal even when they are both single adults. Taking drugs is illegal for all Koreans. Even when a Korean is in a foreign Country we're it is legal, it is illegal fir them to use any drug. If they do, they are arrested and jailed upon return to Korea. I wonder if this is why BTS never attends after parties of events like the Billboard awards and Grammy shows. Drinking is acceptable for adults in Korea but again, drinking with '1no drama. Tattoos are also frowned upon. When JungKook, who has a sleeve of tattoos on one arm and in his hand, had to wear a glove while performing his hits in Korean TV. Lastly, as you watch more of their behind the scenes videos, you will see them heing very affectionate with each other. This is common among Korean boys and men and is not considered gay. In fact, Korea has not granted many rights to the LGBTQ community. Every Korean male is required to serve in the military. A recent Korean SupremevCourt ruling maintains the military's practice of prohibiting any homosexual activity even off base on the soldiers own time. A soldier that breaks this rule is imprisoned for 2 years.
I mentioned all of this because knowledge of (these cultural differences helped me in the early months of my BTS exploration.

All ages stated are at least 1 year older than we would count it. Until this year Koreans were 1 year old at birth and became one year older on New year even if their birthday is not till December. So Jungkook was literally raised by BTS. The first few years they had hardly any time off.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Greetings from this 62 year old ARMY!
Loved your reaction and the way your pick up on details and humor! 💯😊 I'm especially enjoying your reactions to V. I consider myself a V connoisseur. He is stunning on stage, and other times he is lighthearted and childlike.
A few years ago, ARMY wanted to do something special with their light sticks at one concert, so they covered them with purple cloth. When V saw the beautiful color in the audience, his creativity kicked in and he came up with these ideas about the meaning of purple, here: 42:46-43:06. ... Borahae is a coined word, a combination of Korean Bora (purple) and Saranghe (I love you). BTS and ARMY use it as a greeting of affection and loyalty. In English they say, "I purple you!" ... When BTS played Las Vegas, the whole city lit up purple every night! ... For a treat, search "bts" in Google and look for the purple heart in the landing page header. Click it, then click the purple balloons that begin floating up. The heart shaped ones have a microphone inside, and will give you a surprise to see and hear, created personally by each BTS member!
    Borahae! 💜

17:32 He absolutely did disrespect Suga, not only saying sugar, but saying sugar in Korean so it's even that much further from his actual stage name AND oh my goodness...I can't even count the number of reactions I've seen of this video and you're the first person I've seen pick up on that. The amount of disrespect that both RM and Suga received from pre-debut on was intense and came from both sides, no longer respected as rappers and artists from the underground (and people that RM had been "friends" with), but also the Idol industry as well (coming from a small and relatively poor label they were considered nobodies and largely disrespected) and told they weren't good looking enough, etc. This particular infamous meeting wasn't even supposed to be focused on RM and Suga, they were invited in celebration of something else...but when they arrived it was clear that they were set-up with the whole table focused on them...clearly they were doing something right because at this point this was maybe 4 months post-debut. If people weren't jealous and feeling challenged by their talent they wouldn't even have been noticed.

Also your audio is very low against the video and it is tough to hear what you say when you speak with the video playing. Please don't worry about pausing we love to hear people's thoughts
