You can't kill these cars! Love our Galant! We have a 2007 ES with the 2.4, 138,780 miles. Never one problem and it has been to hell and back.... Things have happened to this car that should never happen to a car hahaha!!!
It's a shame. They could have updated the Endeavor, Galant, and Eclipse and had some good sellers. They should have thought twice before discontinuing them.
This car is a steal as a daily driver with its quick depreciation and overall great reliability. You can get a low mileage one for the low 10'000's and even though it's not the HIGHEST quality (cause it's not), routine maintenance and you'll be good for atleast ten years or more and that's all you can ask for.
The Galant is a decent and reliable car for basic transportation. A few years ago I had an 09 as a rental for a week. Back in December when I bought a new car, I did give this car a chance but honestly Mitsu has not updated and refined this car since its original redesign in 2004 (mostly cosmetic changes). This car comes in dead last when compared to all other midsize cars it competes with. It is very loud too. I ended up getting a used 09 Mazda 6.
These cars are tanks!! Love it and wouldn't trade it for anything! We have 126000 on it and not one check engine light or any repair. Ours has when to hell and back and is still running awesome, the exhaust for an I4 is amazing!! It maybe a little dated but no-one could beat its driving feel, so sporty!!
I bought a new 2012 Galant SE a couple months ago, and I love it so far. My wife has a 2009 Toyota Camry LE that we paid about the same price for (about $20K), and the Galant has so many more features for the same money. My only beef with the car is that the acceleration is a tad sluggish, but other than that, it's awesome.
I purchased a Black 2012 Galant and love it! It is fun to drive and has an awesome music system. I got the upgraded SE package so the interior is much nicer than some of the "other cars". I live in NOVA work in DC so the commute is murder - I didn't want to spend a ton on a car that is worked so hard everyday. I don't like the looks of the Ford or Carolla and there are about a jillion Altimas on the road. It's not a Porsche, but it is sleek and sexy car that handles nicely and is reliable.
my dad had an 07 galant then gave it to my mom when he got a new car and it still works. why did they have to stop selling such good and reliable cars like this?
There are no recalls check for yourself I have a 2012 galant 43,000 miles no problems just did a new set of tires and brakes after a year 2 road trips super smooth no complaints here great on gad I upgraded the sound system 2 12s
@@carguyns4348 well I like it because it’s just a simple sedan to get around, I don’t really care if it’s as good as the competitors, I just care that it’s reliable and runs lol
Even though this body of Galant was introduced in 2004, it was pretty heavily freshened in 2009. It lost the "bird beak" front end, got a rear end re-design, and the c-posts were slightly modified, being a little bit thinner than on the '04-'08 models.
2011 is where the body has went way sleeker and skinnier for faster aerodynamics. Drives like a budget lamborghini. Feels like you're on the road forever. Literally
The Galant has remained almost unchanged in the American market since 2004. According to Wikipedia, the 380 was "a localized version...[that] replaced the long-lived Magna line." It was produced from 2005-08 in Australia/New Zealand. The American Galant is produced in the US.
absolutely right, this car isnt inspiring in anyway, but man is it comfortable and more than keeps up with traffic. I rented this for 5 days in LA, A/C on 95% of the time, got more than 30 mpgs, Did 1300 miles in 4 days, didnt feel it at all. Im going to buy a used 2012 in a few months. I was very very impressed.
8:55- a bit dated, but it gets the job done. and as weird as it may seem, the song fantasy girl by 38 special plays through the cars audio system as he Saabkyle04 navigates the various menus...the vibe presented, seems to be fitting or may be too fitting...just my opinion...BTW nice review Saabkyle04 on this Gallant!
I love this car. A friend of mine has a 07 and with 130K miles hes never had a problem and he dogs the crap out of it all the time. A very reliable car.
Car is sportier than people think as it has sportronic manual shift as well an engine design to maximize low end torque(long stroke, tuned intake runners, single camshaft, vvt intake). The 4 gear, sportronic transmission means you only need to shift down one gear for a lot more power while cruising.
Thanks for the vid, I'm thinking about buying one of these. This gen of Galant was a little homely when it was introduced in 2004, but has gotten much better looking in recent years. As for the price, I've seen these things go for as little as $16K brand new.
Had a brand new 2009 galant sport edition. I loved that car! Was extremely reliable and drove really well. Only problem was the four gear transmission and the lack of folding back seats. Otherwise it was the perfect car. I had it for five years before i moved onto a 328i bmw. The 328i was superior in everything, but reliability was horrible compared to the galant. I still have the bmw for almost 8 years now(in december it will be 8 years). I stay on top of the maintenance, but if i wasnt a car guy, id say the galant was way better than the bmw! I still find myself looking at 9g galants every few months. Its a shame they got discontinued.
A good measure of a car company's reliability is how many older ones you see on the road relative to the number produced. The Galant has never sold as well as the Camry, Accord, or Altima; but I still see many 10+ year old Galants still on the road. Hopefully mine will still be chuggin' away in 2022!
Really disappointed with Mitsubishi (at least in US) for not stepping their game up. Its vehicle lineup has been horrible and they could've remedied that to regain much of its customers. I say this as someone who liked Mitsubishis. Their mistakes: 1. Killing Galant and Eclipse without fixing those cars. 2. Stopping sales of Montero (Pajero/Shogun). It's clearly the better SUV than Endeavor ever was. 3. Focusing solely on EV without perfecting it. iMiEV isn't exactly a car one would like to buy and drive. Lancer, Colt and Mirage would make more sense as EVs. 4. Extremely slow model refresh cycles. They had the last gen Galant for a decade, Eclipse for 8 years and Lancer's also getting stale. 5. Base model of the cars too boring, limited and poorly engineered. Lancer's an example again.
Mitsubishi is a very reliable car. I see old ones still driven out there. I like the galant in white. Its too bad the back seats dont fold down though but a great warranty too
Mitsubishi cars are of great quality. I own a galant and I can tell you that the all what makes a car in a galant is great. However, it just lacks the additional features. I think most galants do not have traction control or ABS brakes. The inside of the car also lacks the feel of luxury like the extra compartments above driver's head or radio (and other entertainment stuff) controls on the steering wheel. But many other cars in the same category lack these. The problem with Mistu is the scandal it was involved in early 2000 in Japan. The had cover-ups on quality control issues, and some these issues caused accidents and people getting killed. Once the story was out, the media had fun and went on to report every single accident on the road where a mitsu was involved in it. One thing to note, NONE of the cars which had quality issues were sold in the US. The quality problems were limited to their pick up truck line-up (Fuso). My car has 170,000 miles on it and it is running smooth...very comparable to my friend's car which is a 2009 camry.
ena81xx the controls are actually on the back of the steering wheel ( on both sides ). So that you can change the volume and change the songs with your fingers. At first I don't notes that the buttons where there, because are not visible at all on the front of the steering wheel.
Another unfortunate scandal that hit Mitsubishi is the scandal of them being involved with the Yakuza in the late 1990's. Despite the rather despicable actions of the Yakuza; they actually have their good side as well. In the aftermath of the January 17, 1995 earthquake in Kobe as well as after the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan; the Yakuza secretly helped out with relief efforts by anonymously distributing food, water, medical supplies, toiletries, etc. They also managed to stop any would-be looters after these disasters. Their reason for these actions is that they wanted to say to Japan and the world is that they weren't these evil gangsters and they wanted to help their fellow citizens during Japan's darkest hours. After the Kobe earthquake; the Kobe city council was extremely hesitant about asking for help from the national government. In fact; help from Federal government of Japan took two days to arrive from Tokyo. This angered the citizens of Kobe.

Over 180,000 miles now and still no problems.
They seriously need to redesign this thing now. A new one would be awesome!
@ 7:45 the sunroof already has a built-in pop-up wind deflector, so the "optional" smoke-colored plastic piece on top of the car is not needed.
