The Pixel really shines in tricky lighting conditions, like when shooting against the sunlight, and definitely in portrait mode. For the rest of the pictures, it was back and forth between the G7 and the Pixel. To me, the Pixel feels a little too contrasty..sometimes unnatural, and cooler in tone than the G7, which generally has more natural colours. A lot of people commenting here are confusing detail and color profile between the phones. Although the G7 has better color outdoors and the exposure is higher, you lose a TON of detail that you just can't get back. The Pixel 3 has a flatter profile and a more evenly exposed photo that gets the detail in the sky more often than the G7. But that's the beauty about being able to adjust the color and exposure after the fact in apps like snapseed and photoshop. The Pixel 3 retains ALL of that detail while the G7 lost it from the beginning. I'd much rather have a photo with more detail and adjust it later than to be lazy and have a photo that compromises detail for color and exposure. Why? Because I have a G7 and after having some photos professionally printed it has caused me to seek a better smartphone for photos. I have next to NO detail of my baby's face. I do own a DSLR and I use it often, but sometimes you don't have time to bust out a DSLR and take candid photos. Sometimes you don't want to bring a DSLR with you EVERYwhere you go. I have more candid photos taken with my G7 than I do with my DSLR and while it looks good on my phone's screen, once transferred to the computer or printed, you quickly realize how inferior this camera phone REALLY is.
Hey High Tech Traveller, still making reviews? Haven't seen anything new in a while. Am getting worried. I ordered the ROG 3. Can you make a review of that? And maybe a camera comparison between it and the U11+. God bless.
I like the Pixel 3 portraits in this comparision. I've seen other pictures with to much blacks and details. Are most of the pictures like in this video or did you pick the best? Maybe other reviewers picked the worst to make it look different then lets say Iphone X?? Or will the camera output like 50% good and 50% bad. I don't now what to think.
NICE review, thanks! The audio is a big minus for me. Front facing camera, P3 is a huge win. Rear camera, LG is taking the lead. That plus the audio and a few little extra perks makes the LG a winner for me but it P3 had good audio, probably would have chosen that one. Thanks for that great review!
The LG G7 wins for taking a better picture of your music out of that high end 32bit DAC headphone jack. Paris Hilton will not replace her iPhone for a Google pixel.
Lol. when he talked about pixel 3, was shooting the video with LG phone... And vice-versa.... So you can see its clarity without wasting time... He did a perfect job.
Should have compared with v40 after camera updates in both devices, but this good too, keep it up. Edit: photos on both was almost similar, both are value products, but my vote goes to g7 for wide lens. I use it too on v30.
I am not 100% sure, but at 3:27 in, when photographing the mirror, it doesn't look like a LG G7 to me. I believe the camera set up on the back is wrong. Maybe mixed up the images. Any other thoughts?
Interesting part is that, despite the pixel being better in like 75% of the time, there are some photos that are much better in the G7, looks like a software problem, the pixel apparently deals better with most situation while the G7 apparently haves better hardware. And the video looks much better in the G7 (pixel phones tend to do bad videos)
You can use ported Google Camera on LG phones. If you don't care too much about fast update, might as well get an LG which have headphone jack and microSD slot, then install Google Camera apk.
The G7 shoots very good pictures, but the Pixel's are just stuning, specially in low light. I just think some of the G7's pics were too overexposed and it's odd because I've been using the G5 and V30 and they don't overexpose so much, but the results are there. For me, the Pixel wins in photos and "loses" in video and audio, but the phone also costs twice the price of the LG (even more here in Portugal), and that's a dealbreaker because the G7 is a very capable all-rounder with excelent cameras.
Great video. Pixel won mostly, but the LG wide angle is great. I don't love the blurring/beauty processing on the LG. Kills some of the sharpness. I think they both didn't do great in the blown out sky (LG) and too dark foreground (Pixel) for that one picture I also caught some of the picture mislabels. I assume it's too much of a pain to confirm and update the video, but I would have been fooled had I not seen them in the reflection. Great job otherwise.
Pathetic sound quality of the Pixel 3, and some selfies were blurry. May be your hand shook a little for both the phones at different points. I liked the dynamic range of pixel more but in some shots like the sunset shots, G7 was surprisingly good (looked good). Since, the Pixel had brighter images, it didn't feel that good to me in those shots. Night time selfie and photos, G7 was clearly better (selfie cam). I guess both phones were on auto mode. You could have the tried the night modes of respective phones if not the pro mode. Great comparison. Pixel wins I guess but G7s great too.
I didn't get what happened to lg low light performance at the end because in the start lg was performing very well plus lg pictures are pretty washed out and pixel 3 had very detailed pictures, lg audio performance is better than pixel's. In my opinion its a draw between them when keeping in mind the price difference.
G7 launched almost 9 months ago and now costs half as much as the pixel 3 but it's still giving a tough fight to a camera champ like the pixel. Some shots were better on the G7 imo
Horrible Audio quality of Pixel 3. Lg G7 cam is not far behind Pixel cam. But i don't know but i felt as if you intentionally clicked some bad shots on G7 for comparison to make it look worse.
I had the G8 and the camera surprised me with how bad it handled a variety of lighting situations. It can't handle the bright Texas sun at all. And stinks with low light or windows in the background. Just terrible. Gcam helped a little , but was slow and buggy. Switched to Pixel 3a. I had Samsung S8 before that and it did better than the LG. LG is great otherwise, but I need a decent camera.
The LG G7 sound is slightly shrill... you notice it when talking, especially with 's' sounds. That does NOT happen with the G7 Gcam port... maybe that uses another microphone and/or algorithm? But the Pixel 3 audio is really.. "thin"... very bad...
Today you can grab the LG G7 for 330 euro, pixel 3 is around 800 euro, so LG is the winner for me..
And install gcam.

Just bought one mint for $140... Insane how much the price of LG phones drop. Pixel will always get better updates, but you can't beat that price.

G7 is cheaper than pixel 3
Am I the only one who is confused about what you are talking about and what is on the screen?
Lol. when he talked about pixel 3, was shooting the video with LG phone... And vice-versa.... So you can see its clarity without wasting time... He did a perfect job.
Pixel definitely shows real detail so much better. Lg doctors every photo. The pixel shows most realistic and way better in tricky light conditions
Looks like blues are better on the Pixel 3, but green are better reproduced on the LG G7. Is that a fair assesment?
Parabéns Higt Tech Traveler! Comparativo muito bom.. Belíssimas fotos... Ótimo vídeo!
Pixel 3 vs pixel 2 (with the latest Pixel 3 camera app)
Install camera APK pixel for LG G7 and you have beautyfull HDR+ pics. I've done it for LG G6 and it works like a charm! Doesn't need to route it.
How does it work?send the link
great comparison .....both have their strengths and weakness........how lg matches the pixel 3 is amazing....
Its so frusting that the g6 had the wide angle on Front too and now the pixle 3 promotes it like its their invention.
Google never said that... 😐
@@Tempest.-_ I said they provided LIKE
3:26 You messed up the phones)
I'm confused, would the G7 with GCam especially be the same?
Which country is it?? Is it Canada?? Btw thanks for the video comparison...I prefer pixel 3 for the photos and videos but I’ll go for LG for Audio..
Should have compared with v40 after camera updates in both devices, but this good too, keep it up.
Edit: photos on both was almost similar, both are value products, but my vote goes to g7 for wide lens. I use it too on v30.
Very nice review!
IDK if anyone sees this but at 3:26, you will see the G7 in the place of the Pixel 3 and vise vasa. Are the pictures correctly match the phones?
I love that pixel 3 image at 4:16
The G7 shoots very good pictures, but the Pixel's are just stuning, specially in low light.
LG G7 far better in audio and slightly better in camera
Looks like HDR was ON in Pixel 3 and OFF in LG G7.
My old Nokia Lumia 720 picture quality is similar to Pixel 3.
Using LG G7+ currently.
3:28 which one is pixel and which one is lg??
Yo what about the front facing camera of the g7? It can switch to wide angle as well.
Great video. Pixel won mostly, but the LG wide angle is great. I don't love the blurring/beauty processing on the LG. Kills some of the sharpness. I think they both didn't do great in the blown out sky (LG) and too dark foreground (Pixel) for that one picture
I also caught some of the picture mislabels.
You took a lot of nice landscape. Good job.
Thanks for the extensive review.
Pixel 3 has excellent dynamic range, far better than G7. Great review btw
At 3:29 u inversed photos u can see in the mirror ur using pixel 3 where itt says its g7 and ur using g7 where it says its
I didn't get what happened to lg low light performance at the end because in the start lg was performing very well plus lg pictures are pretty washed out and pixel 3 had very detailed pictures, lg audio performance is better than pixel's.
Bro.. The pixel phones are the gods in the phone world when it comes to camera quality.
How is it that the photos from the camera with less mp (google pixel) better than the dual 16 mp of the lg?
Sir you made a mistake pic of pixel 3 is actually g7's pic and g7's pic is pixel 3 you can take ss and zoom it
Buying pixel phone is like DSLR camera ...it's like you buy a phone and at the same time gets a professional cam too
It's clear the Pixel 3 camera is much better but the audio is terrible....almost unbelievably bad!
Yeah, was the same with the Pixel 2. The audio on the pixels is highly muted due to it's agressive background noise cancellation.
I gotta say.....Pixel is better. I'm an LG fanboy but give credit where it's due
G7 should pay DXO more
3:28 bro WTF you switch the result !!
Was HDR enabled on the G7?
LG G7 ..is a much better phone than the pixel 3. More affordable to , with excellent sound quality 👍
Pixel all the way.. But.. On Amazon (Germany) Lg G7 thinq costs 375,00 eur! In same time Pixel 3 is 599 eur! So.. You see my point..
How to make grass greener? Ask LG
I noticed that also. Just goes to show that AI is smarter on the LG.
i was saying it sarcastically, i dont like super greens
Do you have the phones out of order in the the beginning?
Pixel 3 or 3xl ultra wide angle camera????
When did you join Phandroid?
How to turn off camera shutter sound in g7?
3:29 you messed them up
Will LG ever come out with a great camera or even the top camera of the year??
The LG G7 sound is slightly shrill... you notice it when talking, especially with 's' sounds. That does NOT happen with the G7 Gcam port... maybe that uses another microphone and/or algorithm?
But the Pixel 3 audio is really.. "thin"... very bad...
The music is very relaxing.
LG G7 is best in most conditions..Pixel is good in tricky lighting.
Pixel microphone sucks
